Sony Ericsson :: Settings Not Installed - Web Browser
Feb 16, 2010
Having a problem with my Yari and selecting internet settings - the phone simply won't select any internet settings! Everytime a connection is made to the internet, the phone asks for me to choose what internet settings to install.I have sent the settings to the phone from both Sony Ericsson (SE) Website and Optus (operator in Australia). I receive these ok, but settings don't install. No issue with streaming settings.
The phone will not connect to the operator to download settings for MMS/WAP/Internet.
It is similar in nature to this older post:
Steps taken to attempt to resolve:
1. Manual internet settings
2. Operator provided internet settings
3. SE provided internet settings
4. Master reset
5. repeat steps 2 and 3 - same issue.
SE in Australia suggested Master Reset and then code update, which I will try tonight. Other than that, return to retailer.Any one have any suggestions? Hardware or software fault?
My k800i has been absolutely fine for the 4 or so years i've owned it but recently trying to start the golf game it came installed with has crashed the phone sending into an auto restart.Today instead of restarting, the phone crashed and had a few pixels on the screen in dark Grey but wouldn't change so i had to remove the battery. Now whenever i turn on the phone, the screen display is completely white and the phone vibrates once. I have tried removing the memory card, letting the phone sit for a few minutes before trying again etc all with no success. After googling this problem it seems fairly common but I didn't want to download different software that could damage it permanently. Does anyone know a good solution to this?
I've checked and learned that Elm uses NetFront v3.5 web browser. I guess there's something wrong with it as I cant login to sites that have a home page and after the login redirects u to another site. I am giving an example with the site of www.hattrick.org
I am giving the right username and password and I hit the login button but after the load it remains to the login page without entering my account. I created a thread in the game forum and I found out that more players have the same problem with Elm and hattrick. I d be grateful if i get an answer to my problem as one of the reasons I got it is to play this game from my mobile.
Can anyone tell me how to stop installed apps using the default SE web browser? I have Opera on the phone and had thought I had chnaged the settings for it to be the default broswer but anything that goes direct to a web site opens up the old one. Help.
I recently ordered a w995 from overseas, and for some reason I am unable to change the default page on the web browser. Although I tried changing the setting in Internet Services -> Options -> Advanced -> Connectivity -> Default homepage, the browser seems to ignore the page I provide. Is there any way that I can override this behaviour?
Sony W995, and with my Cell Provider plan, i don't have internet.I got internet on my landline. But when i connect to my wifi network, i can use the phone to browse the web, but when i try to open applications that require internet (such as facebook app), it won't connect through the wifi it gives me the following: Connect using: the setting is empty, if i enter, i should add a data account, i don't know what's that Allow local conn: Yes Then it won't connect.
bitstream unveils the second generation of the acclaimed bolt mobile browser, the most fully featured mobile browser, now featuring tabbed browsing. press release: marlborough, massachusetts – march 23, 2010 – 700 million pages viewed, 190 million minutes of video watched, 180 terabytes of data transferred, and over 5 million users since bolt was first introduced in february 2009, bitstream inc. (nasdaq: bits) today announced beta availability of bolt 2.0, the next generation of the bolt mobile browser, the most fully featured browser for mobile phones of all types. among the new features in the bolt 2.0 beta version is tighter integration with facebook – by far the most popular domain visited by bolt users around the world – including the ability to use facebook’s instant messaging service and to seamlessly copy text or links and post them to a facebook account directly from within the bolt browser. the most important new feature of bolt 2.0 is the addition of tabbed browsing, letting people simultaneously browse multiple websites and easily switch between them.
each new version of bolt becomes more exciting to announce, said anna magliocco-chagnon, president and ceo of bitstream. we are closely listening to our end-users through our user forum, our twitter and facebook pages, and their comments on blog posts and articles, and they are guiding our development roadmap in important ways. it is this close relationship we are building with our users to which we attribute our stunning growth. bolt added 1 million new users in the last five weeks alone. like its predecessor, bolt 2.0 is engineered to run on mobile phones of all types, from low-end feature phones to high-end smartphones. bolt is the only major webkit-based cloud computing browser and is built to deliver a pc-like browsing experience on mobile phones. the second generation of bolt maintains all the features of the first generation bolt browser, including many that no other mobile browser offers:
best of breed over-the-air data compression, resulting in faster load times and decreased data usage. patented split screen viewing to make surfing complicated web pages simple, and viewing content on the smallest of screens easy. additional notable upgrades in bolt 2.0 include a faster widget gallery with updated user interface and a server upgrade to webkit 4.03. bitstream has made bolt extremely easy to use, with keyboard shortcuts to quickly navigate pages and scale up and down through the browser’s six levels of magnification. comprehensive instructions on how to use all of bolt’s many features can be found at http://boltbrowser.com/faq.html. bolt is free to download and works on any mobile java (j2me) phone (approximately 75 percent of the estimated 4 billion phones in use today). handset manufacturers and wireless operators looking to preload bolt on their mobile phones can license a custom version of bolt built for any operating system or platform.
recognizing that some mobile phones currently in use cannot support the full size applications and some network providers limit the size of application downloads, bitstream also offers a light version of the bolt mobile browser, bolt litetm. bolt lite contains all the essential features of the bolt mobile browser, retaining bolt’s feature-rich functionality, best-of-breed download speeds and desktop pc-style page layout in a smaller package optimized for entry-level devices. the bolt 2.0 beta can be downloaded for free at: http://boltbrowser.com/beta/download.html. people can still download bolt 1.7 and bolt lite for free at http://boltbrowser.com.n)

I can see that the Hazel/Elm are now both running NetFront 3.5 which has Adobe Flash support. Is it possible to extract this browser for use in a different phone? Is it possible to upgrade the browser at all? I am running a W705 currently which I think runs 3.4.
I'm a Graphic Designer that all so makes video. I would like to know what settings I should use when I want to convert my videos for my Aino. It's impossible for me to find on the net. The best settings: File format Video Codec Biterate Framerate Size (240 x 432?) Audio-Codec (Aac?)

This is something that's really getting on my nerves now. Everytime I use the Google search feature on my phone I get directed to the Dutch version instead of the English version. This has happened on a number of A200 platform phones i've owned. It seems to be a browser problem but I can't find any setting to change the default language. Anyone know of a way to sort this apart from bookmarking the English version of google.
I got my MMS setting from my current network but the problem is, whenever I receive MMS pictures, I will receive it in small size, too small I guess, about 3kb. I even try to send MMS to my number but still it will appear in a small size.
