Galaxy S6 :: No Download Mode - Only Factory Mode
Jun 17, 2015I have a Galaxy S6 that I purchased off Ebay and on the back of the phone, the model is SM-G920i but in the settings of the phone, the model number is SM-G920F. I want to get this back to original stock firmware based on the G920i. The only problem is that I cannot get into Download Mode to be able to use Odin. I have tried all of the hardware combinations and the only thing is does is take me to a Factory Mode, where the options are Auto Test, Manual Test, Item Test, Test Report, Debug Test, Clear eMMC, Version, and Reboot.

Aug 22, 2010I am planning on returning this phone because it cannot get to recovery / download mode using the combo keys. When I tried to swap it today, nothing from their stocks worked but the demo unit worked, but they wouldn't swap it with mine. I understand that it might be a huge problem for me if i cannot get into download/recovery mode right? Seems to me that the early batches can do this but the new batches cannot. Bell must have done something. But what exactly they have done? Is this software related that Bell did to disable this? Is there no chance at all to flash the device to re-enable it back?

Nov 26, 2015Dropped S6 in water, turned off and left in rice bag for 2 weeks.
Tried to turn on today and it only boots to download mode, everything else just reboots the phone. Also it will only turn on when connected to USB so i'm guessing the battery is dead also.
My main concern is I have photos that I really want to try and recover and yes I know I know, always have a backup, as a desktop technician I really should have had that setup on my phone but here we are.
So my main target is to somehow get into recovery mode and then use ADB to pull files from the phone.
I've tried to flash many different recovery files but they always fail in Odin v3.10.7, log for Odin is:

Jul 9, 2015S6 stuck in download mode. I tried to unroot and flash the old stock software. It's now stuck on a screen that says to use emergency recovery or I can get it to go to download mode. When I open up Odin I don't see the blue section where the driver should be.

Feb 20, 2016The last flashing process was a while back. I must have been a little rusty... Anyway, I today tried to install the 6.0.1 compatible TWRP Recovery on my Galaxy S6 920F and made several mistakes in the process using Odin 3.10.7 on my Windows PC (flashed a wrong file in AP, it was an .img and not a tar.md5). Now I'm still in the Download Mode and can't exit it at all. I tried the Home Button + Vol Up + Vol Down like 1000 times, but it still won't work. It really seems to be stuck. Odin finds the device, but when I try to re-flash the recovery the right way (at least I hope it is), it tries to establish a connection before flashing and after that it's stuck, too.
On my device the last lines are: B:2 K:2 S:2
What can I do? Is there a way to bring this device back to life?

Oct 13, 2015I have the international galaxy s6. SM-g920I. I have rooted it already, then I tried flashing a recovery. Now it is stuck in the Samsung logo. I can still go to the download mode. What to do. And if I need to download the firmware file, can you tell me what the baseband is? This is urgent. I can enter download mode, but not recovery. Only have access to Odin mode right now.

This isn't affecting the alarm but obviously I am missing any texts or phonecalls coming through and don't get them until I wake and change the phone mode back. Sep 6, 2015I just tried out car mode for the first time and when I was in the simplified interface there was no way for me to exit it... I just tried it out inside so it wasn't automatically hooking up to a cars bluetooth or anything. I believe I was supposed to pull down on the top menu thing to turn it off but I couldn't pull it down while in car mode. I ended up having to reboot my phone to get out of car mode.

Jan 4, 2015The network mode on my Samsung galaxy S5 device is always set at GSM only. When I try to change it to WCDMA only or GSM/WCDMA (auto mode) it changes back to GSM only. The area I am has 3G network and most devices I see have H but mine always shows as E no matter what I do. When browsing it takes a long time for pages to open because its always at E.
I have factory reset the device but still facing the same problem.

Dec 12, 2011when I plug my S2 into my laptop (Macbook pro) and choose data transI was expecting to see an icon representing the phone show up on the Finder desktop. That's not happening. Instead I'm prompted to "press the home key to quit Samsung Kies" Am I doing something wrong or do I HAVE to open Kies in order to see my phone's memory (32GB SD). My Nokia N8 would just show up on the desktop...not so with the GS2.
PS. Does using the USB invoke Samsung Kies to open up? I'm not seeing anything on my homescreen except the word "Connecting"...and the little dots that indicate the phone is thinking about something,..but nothing ever happens beyond that.

Oct 3, 2012Yesterday for no reason my phone started activating a "Car Mode" feature draining the battery into nothing even after its fully charged. the screen is also rotating even when i have auto rotate off and is also starting freeze. it keeps connecting and disconnecting into Kies via USB despite the USB not even being plugged in.

I have tried everything from removing battery, removing SD CARD, SIM CARD, connecting to charger, connecting to USB cable on my laptop, holding volume up, home, and power button. My biggest fear is losing all my data. I have 100's of photos of my 3 month old newborn on my phone memory because I was running low on my SD CARD. I can't fathom losing all her newborn pictures.

May 13, 2012When I want to manually set the screen brightness (or change the "mode", called "sk�rmtilstand" in Danish), changes have no effect. The brightness bar is greyed out. Also, I have noticed that turning of "system battery saving" (the first of the two options offered under energy saving in the settings) changes have no effect.

Feb 12, 2012I get a poor signal indoors at home - on Orange and it's always been the case. I spoke to their customer services and was told to switch the phone from auto select for Network Mode to GSM only. My choices are GSM only, WCDMA only or Auto.
True, having done so, the signal strength seems better though not amazing but, ordinarily, I get then just a "G" for data. I found that switching to WCDMA only, data goes to 3G or even H and sometime H+ but I nearly always lose the standard signal.
I dont understand the difference between GSM and WCDMA nor whether the results I see when choosing each are to be expected or not. I'd welcome any information from those of you who know more about these things than I do.
