When i take photo's it displays them in the gallery ok but when I try to open them it just displays black with a grey box with a break through the middle of it

When I choose this the email opens and I can send, but the recipient, just get pages of code not the photo. If I create an email I can attach the photo and it sends. I also get this when i try to forward some photos i receive via email, they just receive code.

I called Samsung and they had me search the phone in several places to look for the pictures with no luck. Has anyone lost pictures after an update? How to find my photos? Well I have that little problem with it that whenever I download a pic from for example Google or Hangouts I don't have the -Downloads- folder in my gallery. They do not show up anywhere except if I go to "My files - internal memory - downloads" but nowhere in the gallery. In the gallery I chose the option to show every pic which is saved to the device but they don't show up only camera photos, screenshots. Nothing else.

View 2 Replies View RelatedYesterday I came across a strange problem with my SGSII. I realized that I cant access my gallery if wifi is switched on.If I turn off wifi, it works again. Any idea why this is happening? Restarting the phone didnt change anything.At first I thought it might be from some app, so I uninstalled the last 5 apps I downloaded, but nothing changed I'm positive that it was working fine before. It just happened all of a sudden.I have attached screen-shots of my phone info along with what my gallery looks like when it's not working.

Closing it and reopening it several times sometimes does the trick, but sometimes it has to be left for a while. I find this very annoying for such a lightening fast and smooth operating phone. My SGS 1 didnt have this problem.

I know from various sites that you can add a ".NoMedia" file to any folder and it will apparently prevent it from displaying in Gallery, but I can't find the actual folder location in My Files where the contact photos are stored, so that I can put this file there - and I can't find this info on ANY web sites. Is the .nomedia thing the only way to stop this? Also, is it possible to uninstall / remove access to Gallery if I install another photo/video manager app?

Now I don't have that option under the menu button and therefore I can't foward the message save to PC or anything else I could before.

It has three thin black vertical lines down the left of the screen if i view as a portrait or along the bottom if viewed as landscape. The lines are always on the screen when the camera display is active and in any pic or video I would take.
