Samsung Galaxy S II :: Static / Distortion Noise When Listening To Music And Scrolling Through Lists?
Jul 14, 2011
I just got my samsung galaxy S II a few days ago and i'm immediately disappointed by the sound. When using headphones, there seems a small amount of distortion or noise just before each track is played and in between tracks. (Possibly while playing tracks as well). Also, when i stop or pause the music, and then scroll through lists or even just touching the screen at all, there seems to be some kind of audible static noise heard through the headphones. This noise only seems to last for about 5 seconds after i have paused a song, and after that it then seems to be silent again with no noise when i touch the screen.
I´ve had my Iphone 4s since january and have use a cable to extract audio to play it in the car. A couple of days ago I took the earphones that came with the phone and started using them.
Everything sounded good, podcasts, songs, games. Yesterday I used an application called brainwaves that is a sound generator (alpha, beta, etc. waves). After that, I tried to listen to more music and noticed that the sound on the right earpiece is distorted.
I tried closing all application, reseting the phone, I even restore it with Itunes, and it is the same. I tried some other earphones without the control switch, and the noise-distorition dissapears. I connect the cable to listen music in the car, and the problem is there.
I tried different songs and podcast, and the problem is still there. Is this a problem with the output jack? the earphones? software?
I have a problem when i use handsfree earphones, there is such bad distortion that people cannot hear me. It isnt the headset as i have tested another pair and it does the same and it works fine in my other phone. Im not sure if i did something in the service menu as i was trying to increase volume on my headset for music, but this resets with a soft reset so it cant be that. I recently upgraded to ICS and thought this would solve the problem but it hasent. I do not really want to do a hard reset as this will take ages to back everything up and put it all back to how it was,I am also unable to access the Service Menu Audio setting now, nothing happens when selected, all the other options work, again i dont believe this is the problem.
Whenever I call someone or get called, the person on the other end receives nothing but static/disturbance. This is weird as my phone worked perfectly fine before. I can hear my caller perfectly fine, but they cannot hear me. This is high volume rubbish noise, when I shout, a little of voice makes it through, but it's hardly noticeable. Here are a few things I tried:
- Speech recorder: works fine. So it can't be the microphone
- Using headset: My headset filters silence and only 'sends out' voice when it recognizes noise. When Im silent, there is no static. As soon as I speak and the headset registers (and sends) voice, the static on the other end returns.
I am having some problems with the Xperia Z2 bluetooth speaker pairing.I have successfully connected it to my bluetooth handsfree device in my car.Ive also tested it on one speaker. But when I try to connect it to Philips Fidelio E5 I only get static noise. Can it be the APTX? Is there a way to turn that off?The Philips Fidelio works perfect with many other devices. (tested 3 different devices successfully) Including Xperia Z tablet.Â
I get static noise when I plug in specific pairs of headphones into my HTC one m8. When I try them with my other devices, I don't hear any static noises. Is there something wrong with my device?
I've come from an iPhone 3GS where in order to scroll within drop down lists in the browser, you use two fingers to scroll up and down, then 1 finger to make your selection. This doesn't seem to work on the Galaxy S2. Is there another multitouch way to interact with drop down lists?or example, a site requested my date of birth and the drop down list for year started at 1902 and showed the next five years. The only way I could work out how to get to my year of birth was to select the highest number showing which then closed the list, reselect the list and select the highest number showing which then closed the list, reselect the list and select the highest number showing which then closed the list, reselect the list and select the highest number showing which then closed the list and so on and so forth until I got to my year of birth.
I've been a happy xperia mini pro (android 4.0.4) owner for 8 months however today i started experiencing a repetitive static noise thump which appeared during all my calls. I wanted to find out more about this problem eventually any fixes, and if problems such as this would be covered by the warranty.
My 3 week iPhone 4S today started making a hissing type noise coming from the charging port. I am unable to play music through the external speaker now too. how I can fix it? Id like to avoid going to the apple store, but if I must, I will.
For some reason, and this happened on my S4 as well, when I'm listening to music through headphones or an aux cable, it cuts off for a second. Now, this doesn't happen with other phones I've played with (iP6, LGG4), so why it happens with Samsung's phones?
Phone was on desk minding it own business I turned on my Bluetooth speakers bose. And the phone made a horrible sound via its speaker phone speaker. Load static for no reason. I went to the radio tuner as it sound like radio static and sure enough as it was searching the static changed.
So why would turning on my BT speakers cause the radio to turn on with static without head phones and be super loud on the phone speakers. The only way I could stop the sound was to power the phone off.
Like many of us, I have experienced the problem of noise from the headphone port of my Bionic. This was prevalent no matter what I was listening too (music, podcast, phone call, etc), and was most noticeable when in the car, plugged into the aux jack of my stereo.
A friend suggested getting a ground loop isolator, and I found one on Amazon for around $12 with free shipping. It arrived on Friday, and let me tell you, THE DIFFERENCE IS AMAZING! All the noise is gone, and my music sounds significantly better. No more hiss or noise. I didn't realize how much I had gotten used to it being there.
I got my S2 a few days back, and am quite impressed with the scrolling background wallpaper. However, I don't understand how to make a wallpaper scrollable. I installed this app called Zedge that lets you download free wallpapers etc. When I choose the image to use as wallpaper, I'm taken to a screen with the following:
- A thumbnail of the image with a resizable orange rectangle. - 2 icons below that - one with 3 panes that looks like it's meant to select a scrolling wallpaper and the second one showing a single pane.
I choose the one on the left that appears to be for scrolling, then I suppose I have to select the area of the image I want. I want the entire image to be used as a wallpaper, so I select the whole thing. (I've also tried selecting only a sub section). I click save. It generates and sets the wallpaper and...it does not scroll. (I have all 7 home screens enabled).
I go back, choose the icon on the right, select a small area of the image and that gets set as a wallpaper. This also does not scroll. I don't want to go install a 3rd party app just to do this. I have tried with Zedge, as well as locally stored pictures from my Picasa albums. Also, how does one change the 3 default pictures in the 'wallpaper gallery'? I can't find them on the SD card.
When I press the menu button I have a list of apps on the phone a slow flick does not scoll down the screen smoothly, the same happens with my music list. Playing argry birds as the bird flies through the air there is a moment of jerk in the motion at mid flight. I have installed flash 11
Just recently when I access my gmail app on my phone, I have no way of scrolling up or down. It also freezes once I open it and the only way to get off of the screen is hitting the home button which freaks the phone out. I have also seen an error message which I did not take down the exact file launcher problem it was encountering.
i was using my phone then later i went to get something i heard a buzzing noise coming from my phone and when i clicked the home button the screen was black it wouldn't come on.
i tried switching it on by pressing the home button and power button together but it continued to make the noise and the screen is black. Also i did put it on charge to see if it would come on but it didn't.
i am new galaxy s ii owner. i got this device two days ago and when i was playing with the camera i noticed a strange noise every time i went to the camera app. i tested with other camera apps and updated my firmware via kies and i can still hear the noise. the noise is like ,, two clicks" at every camera startup and that's all. after it my camera's autofocus and everything else works perfectly fine. exact sound i found in one of Internet videos: [url] but his camera does not work and the noise repeats. so my question would be is that noise perfectly fine? or is it just me and i should replace the device?
I have my S2 for some days now. and suddenly my speaker acts weird. Every time sound is played (keyboard, calls, music, ....) the speaker acts weird don't know how to describe it:
1) It makes the right sound so thats Ok. 2) While playing the sound, the speaker clicks on (you can hear a click). 3) Then it makes a noise (you can compare it when you put your speaker from your PC really loud but ain't playing music or something). 4) After that it makes the click again.
I've bad echo on voice calls my friends tell me whenever they ring.... As in they can hear there own echo. everything is ok my end. I installed villaintweaks 1.3.1 as I was told there was a fix fire this. I installed the noise cancellation fix.... But still it remReally would like to get this echo. I don't like having to keep pressing menu-noise reduction off during every call. Also notice that if I remove my protective case the echo disappears completely....but I don't want to leave the phone unprotected. Also, is it possible to fully remove villaintweaks and all of its data(and tweaks that I installed) from the phone? Would a normal uninstall work, or would I have to do something else.
I have the dreaded echo when I'm using the phone and would like to know if there is a permanent way of turning off Noise Reduction as this is the only way I can get rid of it. As I already have a hearing impediment the echo is extremely annoying and having to turn off NR everytime the phone is used strikes me as ridiculous for such an expensive and otherwise marvellous piece of kit; its also a silly inconvenience.
Any hacks that will turn off NR or any chance Samsung will cure this in a software update?
I believe this may be an issue on all devices. It seems like the issue is prominent when taking close up photos. The issue affects the top ~15% of the screen and the bottom ~15%. The only purpose of having a front facing camera is for the ease of selfie shots.
I posted the following question and received a solid answer but it was at the Droid X forum. I tried to navigate to a Droid X2 forum and ended up here.
I'm about 2 seconds from returning my Xoom Family Edition. I am furious at the fact I can't do something as simple as play music with the screen off without hearing static and constant clicking through my headphones. Only when the screen is off, too. Is this a common problem? Even my first gen single-core droid X doesn't behave this way when I play music using the very same apps with the screen off. It handles it fine, no clicks, no pops, no static, no bullcrap. Why is my supposedly "powerful" machine
