View 4 RepliesI have a Lumia 710 (Rogers branded) with the latest updates. There appears to be no wifi hotspot options in the settings, I assume this has been disabled by Rogers. Is there anyway for me to get this enabled?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI bought a BB Bold 9900, supposedly unlocked, yet when I put in different SIM it connects to the network for a second and then it disconnects, yet it works fine on Rogers. Took it to the mall and was told it's corporate phone, it is unlocked but still works only on rogers. What can I do to unlock it now? I unlocked a few 9900 and I just buy code online, put in different SIM and it asks me for unlock code.
View 8 Replies View Relatedtoday I picked up a rough looking Bold 9000 and swapped in my spare parts onto it. The catch is, it was a Bell phone. I already unlocked it and it states it is on rogers network now. I don't want the Bell logo/wallpapers to load upon startup, so I though by installing FW Version 5.0.1626 from the blackberry Rogers download page it would fix it.The software update just finished(about 10-15 min) and I see a bell background and bell startup logo. Should the Rogers FW change this over? or are the bell wallpapers/startup logo's programmed into the phone itself and NOT the FW?I don't want to remove the Logo completely, I just rather have it say ROGERS like my old BB and have all the rogers software/configuration.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI was always using on other phones with Android 2.2 FroYo that 3G mobile hotspot feature, which was included right in the Android system under Wireless Networks settings. Now in Defy there is no option like that under settings in FroYo. Defy includes own app called 3G Mobile Hotspot, which should work like that option for creating mobile WiFi hotspots in other Android phones. But here is the problem. On my older phone with Android 2.2 I could create 3G WiFi hotspot wherever I needed and it worked. But now, with Defy, when I use that application 3G Mobile Hotspot, it writes me error when creating WiFi hotspot "Cannot set up data link, please contact your service provider" I suppose it is something with my carrier (Vodafone_CZ), but when I used 3G WiFi hotspots on older phones (which had that feature included right in Android settings menu) it worked without problems and I a used mobile phone for 3G internet sharing with my laptop. Now I remember, that I have deleted some DUN profile under APN Internet profiles, could it be that problem, that 3G Mobile Hotspot app is not working?how to create WiFi hotspot on my Defy for example with some other app?Or if not, how can I use Internet Tethering in Defy Mobile Networks menu via Bluetooth (my laptot has BT). I dont know, what should I set in my laptot to use Defy like BT 3G Internet provider and I dont know, if Internet Tetherig via BT is not charged at my carrier (I know, that the 3G WiFi hotspot feature was not extra charged..) so for that reason I would like to make it working on my Defy.
My ROM: original 34.179.2.MB525.Retail.en.CEE

I have the iPhone 4 3G and also have a Kindle Touch. Can I set the phone to do a portable hotspot so I can use my Kindle without having to go to a Wi-Fi hotspot place?

View 15 Replies View RelatedWow, do I ever need help! I blindly bought an unlocked N72 on a Canadian Webstore (Mobile604) and I simply can't get the phone to receive and send emails. I can't get the phone to connect to Rogers' 3G network either. The phone is a E72-1 RM530. I'm a newbie and never owned a Nokia phone so I'm 100 per cent sure the issue is me, not the phone.
Has anyone successfully accomplished what I'm trying to?How to set-up Ovi Mail, the Wizard took me through the steps, created my Inbox, downloaded my messages but I can't receive nor send from that point on. I tried to add other addresses (Hotmail and Mac Me) with same issue. Thanks in advance, I WANT to love this phone and right now, I'm second-guessing my choice.
Can anyone assist me in this? I have a co-worker who just got back from Hong Kong with this hand set and wants to use it on my pay go card with the unlimited browsing option.. Could someone be so kind as to tell me the settings? and how to input them on the phone?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI read the FAQ posted above regarding how to upgrade the OS on a phone. Just wanted to double check with you all before I potentially brick my phone? I purchased an unlocked bold 9900 that has the rogers software on it. I am a Tmobile customer and would like to replace the software with Tmobile's 9900 software. Has anyone done this - just want to make sure that there are no hardware differences between the phones such that the Tmobile software won't work.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have installed the Bell 5.0 OS on my Rogers bold. Everything went pretty well for a week, and I loved this new OS. But this morning, my BB data stopped to work (email, browser etc.) and on the network status screen, it said that it was not connected to BIS. I connected to my Wifi network, and the BIS connection was back (using wifi). I closed Wifi, called Rogers, they sent a new config to my BB, and everything worked for a minute. Then it then stopped again. Suspecting that my OS was a bit messy, I wiped my device and installed 5.0 from scratch. Still no connection to BIS. So I wiped again and installed the latest Official OS from Rogers. Everything was fine. I then upgraded to 5.0 and lost connectivity to BIS again Any idea on what is going on? Anyone is having trouble have their BB connect to BIS?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI am currently running OS 7.0 bundle 1328 on a Torch 9810, according to Rogers Wireless this is the most up-to-date BlackBerry OS offered on their network. I have run the update protocol from the Desktop software and it also tells me my device is up-to-date. I called Rogers and asked why I could not update to 7.1 for my BlackBerry and was told that RIM has not yet released it to them. So my question, to whoever might be able to answer it, is this correct, why hasn't RIM released 7.1 to Rogers(a Canadian company like RIM) and when will I be able to enjoy the latest update for my BlackBerry?
View 9 Replies View Relatedif there is a way of name id to work on rogers network in toronto canada?
I have xperia x10 but it only shows the number on the screeen not the name id unless I have saved that no in my contact. When I change the sim to my ericsson w705 or w790, it always shows the name id with number?
Could ericsson try to solve this issue in their new update because if you are already used to of seeing the name id then it is very weird to see only the number.
I live in Canada and have a data plan with Rogers. Up to a few days ago I had a Samsung Jack and internet on it was just fine. I received HTC Touch Pro 2 with WM 6.1 on it. I have problems connecting it to the internet, and Rogers sent me a link to some 3rd party site which is no loger up and running. I can't copy the settings from Jack, as for whatever reason it just doesnt let me open & see the settings. If I go to settings-> connections --> communicationm manager -- data connection, I see that it is set to 'turned off'. If I flick it to 'on', it displays a short message saying 'the phone is inspecting the configuration' and then quickly reverts to CONNECTIONS window, which allows me to :
- add a new connection
- add a new VPN server connection
- edit my proxy server
- manage existing connection
As for existing proxy server, I created a new one called ROGERS and have entered the following settings in the advanced tab for WAP settings
SERVER: internet.com Port: 9201 (this port came as default)
user name: wapuser1
password: wap
Domain: 208.200.067.150
I found these settings somewhere, cant recall where.
Our son is presently looking at this phone here in Western Canada.Basic needs:
1. clarity of voice'
2. loud speaker phone
3. user friendly
4. used as reliable phone and no texting
5. no e-mail
Wants a quality phone without bells and whistles that has good reception and very good quality speaker phone. Not interested in texting, music, e-mails.Perhaps occasional camera use.He last used one of our Krazr K1 phones which we now need and he wants a phone that is similar and this one was suggested.Experienced user comments appreciated, as no one in the family has ever used an LG before.(BTW, we are not saying all 'LG' models are the same...we are simply saying that we are unfamiliar with them, unlike our longevity in use of Motos)Would this phone be a comparable to the Krzr K1...better or? He needs a GSM phone.

View 9 Replies View RelatedOn the LG Eve I have an icon for text messaging that appears on the lower bar on the home screen. It is there with contacts, dialer, etc. I have downloaded another text messaging application (Handscent SMS), that shows me how many new messages I have and has more functionality than the application that came with the phone.
So now I have two text messaging apps.Does anyone know if it is possible to remove the application that came with the phone? Or at least disable it? When I get a text message, I get notifications from both applications and I don't want that.
i have a milestone that i purchased last night and for some reason i cannot connect to the internet. Wi-fi is fine.I used all the settings i have foundon google. for APN i used internet.com, wapuser1, wap didnt work the milestone has these settings:
Name-

Proxy-
Port-
Username-
Password-
Server-
MMSC-
MMS Proxy-
MMS Port-
MCC -
MNC-
Authentication Type- (in this field i have these options--PAP,CHAP, PAP or CHAP)
Any help with filling these areas out, i have called Rogers but tech support is not knowledgeable with the motorola Milestone.
I see so many threads where people are taking a Telus Motorola Milestone and trying to tweak it to run on Rogers network (at slower speeds than it would on Telus). Why are they just not going to Telus? Is there some other advantage to making the Motorola Milestone work with Rogers network? It just seems many people dislike Rogers - is there something about Telus and the Milestone I should know about? Maybe locked into a contract at Rogers... but it's not like the Moto hardware is cheap without contract through Telus (something like $599 CAN).

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy Telus Desire is unlocked, rooted, and running on Rogers. With the stock ROM the 3G worked perfectly, everything was great. Now, I've flashed the phone with the proper radio for Froyo, got the proper SLCD Clockworkmod Recovery working, and flashed Cyanogenmod 6.0.0 RC2.Everything works great, but for some reason 3G isn't working at all. I've got the APN setup correctly for Rogers (internet.com, wapuser1, wap, blah blah blah), but still no dice. Data is turned on in the settings, but for some reason it isn't working. There's never any icon to represent it up top either.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have had the Desire (unlocked on Rogers for about 2 weeks and it has worked well in Toronto. I seem to get data from from HSPA, 3G and Edge (get Hs, 3Gs and Es on the notification bar). I arrived yesterday in Thunder Bay and cannot get any data there. I have called Rogers and they have reset the data or whatever they do but no change. I have checked all my APN settings, ensured that I have checked to use mobile connections and done a hard reset of the phone. Nothing works. I not that I have a choice of WCDMA, GSM or auto WCDMA or GSM. I cannot set this on WCDMA without it reverting to the auto position. I suspect that Thunder Bay may have no 3G service and my phone is not dropping to 2G although my experience in Toronto suggests otherwise.
I flew to Kenora tonight and we stopped briefly in Fort Frances where I was able to connect to the Dryden Municpal Telephone System GSM network. The E lit up and it appeared that data was being sent but it didn't get through. This seemed to eliminate the possibility that the radio is simply dead. Incidentally, bluetooth and wifi are working fine as is the voice radio. I have seen it suggested on redflagdeals.com that I need to have the phone rooted to get access to 2G as this was blocked by Telus. I would appreciate anyone's input on this issue. I will be spending 3 or 4 months in Thunder Bay over the next while and need data access. If rooting the phone will do the trick, then I will need to get someone to do it for me as I am a little reluctant to try that myself.
