Aug 14, 2010i would like to know if it is possible (and how to) to completely format my nokia 5230 and reinstall the software.
i want to do this because i bought it with the default settings of a different provider than mine, and some apps (such as nokia ovi maps) do not seem to work right.
that is: i would like the phone to be as is if i bought it without this provider specific settings and preinstalled apps (which i cannot uninstall and won't work with my provider).
p.s. i have already tried the weir button combination (red, green, camera, on). but i didn't work: the phone returned exactly the same as when i first turned on, with all this wrong provider settings...

Everything appears normal except it does not ask me where I want to install the app. Instead it just stops the whole process and does nothing. I have plenty of memory. I did a Soft reset I believe going to settings>phone>phone management > factory settings... I used the code 12345. That did not solve the problem. I tried doing a hard reset using #7370# but the phone kept responding with "request not complete".

I've found an application "bluetooth-wlan-convert" (!!!) but I can't install it on my 5230 to test it (not compatible). I also have seen a microSD card with wlan function but it seems to work only on Windows CE or Linux based smartphones [URL]. If the price was acceptable, do you think if it could be use on Symbian based phones with an appropriate application ? Do you know other way for having wifi function on phone without wifi ?
