Nokia Nseries :: Can't Unlock N97 Mini While Charging Via USB Cable
Aug 30, 2010
I realize I'm careless for letting my battery die so often, but I have trouble unlocking my phone if I:let the battery die and the phone shut itself offplug the usb charger into my computer and the phoneturn on the phoneI end up being unable to unlock the phone. If I press the power button or menu button, I am prompted with the message "Use keyguard switch to unlock screen and keys" But sliding the keyguard switch has no effect.
I am using my mobile Nokia N97 connected to PC for net browsing (with dial up connection). The phone has only one connecting usb slot for battery charger & data cable. While net connection is on with data cable for long time, the battery is discharging in short time. How to recharge the phone battery with data cable simultaneously while net surfing.
When I try to charge it using my PC's USB port, the PC will try and identify it as a flash drive, but it will then bomb out - this is an endless cycle (the sound Windows makes when adding USB Flash drive and then removing it). Using different USB ports has the same result. I am not sure whether charging occurs, but after 10min or so I am still unable to switch the phone on.So I went to the device manager and I can see it reloading each time the N97 tries to register as a USB device. Then I went and looked at which port the N97 is connected to (open each USB root hub and look at the Power tab - ie refresh each time the new device found sound is played from Windows - the USB hub that will be connected to the phone will be indicated by "nokia usb flashing parent"). By disabling the applicable hub, the phone actually showed the Nokia logo on a white screen with the battery life indicator (non charging)when I then re-enabled the USB Root Hub, the display remained on the phone and it started charging.Without disabling the hub the phone would just continue to endlessly find and then discard the "flash drive".I was using Windows XP SP3.Nokia OVIsuite 2.2.0.241 I did manually terminate any Nokia processes prior to disabling the USB Root Hub (not sure how many tried to rerun again)finally it is charging again. Wasn't too keen on what happened, because I don't carry the charger with me when traveling abroad.
I recently got my Nokia E72, and am trying out the USB Data Cable Charging "feature" - it just does not work for me. I wonder if am doing something wrong? The process of inserting the Data Cable is quite straight forward, the phone presents a menu of options "PC Suite..." which I promptly cancel. I then get a message "Charging", and about 15 seconds later I get a message about disconnecting the charger?
The battery/ phone are now in power save mode ie battery almost completely drained - right. So, why will it not charge through the data cable - it refuses. I have searched on the interweb, but seen to be the only one with this problem. The Nokia E72 manual mentions that charing is possible through the use of the Data Cable. I am directly connected to the computer (MacBook Pro 2009 Model). Mac OSX correctly detects the Nokia E72. Do I have to be in Windows XP?
About to replace 6500 Slide with X6 16gb, does anybody know if USB cable to laptop PC will allow charging or not? like the 6500 Slide does not.I know a car cigar lighter charger might work but I'm a train/bus traveller
I have an Iphone 4s that was purchased a few months ago. The charging cable all of a sudden would not charge my phone and I noticed there is a burn mark on the inside of the plug that goes into my phone. Is this cable covered under applecare plus warranty and should I be worried there is a problem with my phone?
When I use an older, slower charger for my GS6 overnight, my battery usually lasts all day, unless under HEAVY use of video or music. However, when I use the Fast Charging cord that was boxed with my GS6, it seems to charge to 100% at lightning speed, but then seems to lose power 5 times faster the next day. I may barely use my phone for <10 minutes during the day, and it is down to 10% by 5pm! So, fast charging = faster battery loss? I'm not seeing an upside to the Fast Charging, at all.
When I connect my N8 via USB in mass storage mode, a message is poping up "Already in Use" an the entire screen becomes white with red text "A Critical Error Occured"?
Is there any procedure through which i can literally download OVI apps & stuffs directly to my Nokia 5230 using my PC Internet via USB Connection. Nokia 5230 doesn't have WiFi connectivity unlike Nokia 5800. So each time i need to download them through the GPRS which has premium charges for each download.
I got my phone for a while now, recieve just bought a HDMI cable. So I decide to test out the N8 HDMI function, but when I connect my N8 to the TV there is no respond at all. The TV has been turned to the HDMI channel. There are no respond both in the phone and the TV plz help
After I have connected my 5230 to my computer using the USB cable (definatley in Mass Media / Storage mode) , the next time I open messages after the cable has been removed I get a pop-up telling me the selected memory is not available and defaulting back to the phone memory (I have the momory card set as the message memory).
My new nokia N8 is constantly coming up with the message "connect usb cable to device". I'll click ok and 2 minutes later it will reappear. When I connect it to a usb, it disappears but will then reappear when I unplug. I've tried updating software but none is available, and there is no programs running on the phone. When I turn off and on I still get the same problem.
Is it me or is "Swipe to unlock" rather slow as missing tap to unlock already?Prefer not to use spring loaded "lock-key" as probably first component to fail!f I've helped in any way, a click upon the white star at bottom right of screen would
I setup mailForExchange, and it recommended me to lock my phone. I remember the lock code. But after an hour the phone locked automatically. Now I want to use the phone, but there's no way it asks me to enter lock code. It just displays a "lock" on the screen and that's it. There's no button...nothing, no option through which I can enter my lock code. The phone doesn't restart either. I don't have the screw driver to take the battery out.
When I connect my phone via the PC's USB, it is instantly recognised and starts charging. When I try this from the USB port in my car, it does not charge.I have tried two genuine Nokia USB data cables and two separate in car USB chargers but with the same result i.e. no in car charging. The in car USB chargers both work fine with the Garmin Nuvi.
It's a USB cable so why doesn't it work? Can anyone throw any light on this please?
I've had my N8 for a year and a week.Four days ago when I wanted to turn up my phone it kept loading for several minutes then the hands logo appeared but froze int the middle. After the hands logo froze the phone kept loading again for several minutes then the hands logo appeared again . I tried pressing the power off button for 8 seconds but the phone only turned off,and when I tried to start my phone it did the same. I send it to Nokia Care but they said they couldnt do anything because they probably think there is something wrong with the motherboard. I don't know what to do anymore.
If you encounter the thing that the Nokia N8 won't charge and worst, if the battery was drained and the N8 shutted down and won't charge or power on, try the following steps.
1. Connect the charger supplied with the N8 to other compatible Nokia phones, like E72 like I did.
2. Wait for the other device (E72) to start charging.
3. After it starts charging, remove the charger from it (E72).
4. Now, try to charge the N8 using the supplied charger that you used with the other device previously (E72).
Only problem is, I'm using the same exact USB cable that I have been using for nearly 2 years. It all the sudden is switching between not being supported and charging (which is annoying, as the phone is vibrating twice every 15 seconds now). Anybody have any clue?
Today my E72 just started "charging" without being attached to electric charger or USB. It's charging for couple minutes and then stops. And that happens every half hour. I will turn it off, take out the battery and hopefully it will stop. This phone is becoming more and more buggy. At first it was fast and everything worked gr8. After time it started to give me error messages, memory messages and so on.
I have another annoying adventure with N8. It was turned off, charging via USB, then the morning alarm worked, i pressed "snooze", device froze with the message "Alarm snoozed for 5 minutes" on the screen.
It does not react on pressing the turn on/off button.
On any other phone I would just take off the battery. On a PDA I would use the little pinhole button to restart. Neither is possible with this "gorgeous" n8. It never freezes, aha.
So now it's morning, i need to go to work, and instead i'm trying to start the freaking phone. You're losing fans, Nokia. This is the most problematic smartphone i had.
I sent by N8 to a Nokia care point in October 2012 as the bottom piece that enters the battery compartment had broken in one corner and thought I'd better get it fixed before the warranty expired in November 2012. When it was returned I checked it turned on and reloaded some of the software, however I then requested an unlock code from orange UK and that was the end of that as I had already made my sim into a mini sim for my new Nokia 808. Although I have just received an unlock code from orange (another story altogether) however when I turned my phone on the battery was nearly depleted. When trying to charge it with the mini jack, the battery icon doesn't change to indicate it is charging, I have tried many different Nokia chargers with the mini jack and it does nothing. When I plug it into my laptop it recognizes it as a Nokia N8 and connects to Nokia suite OK, it then tries to charge showing the nokia logo, and dot sequence but then disappears and stops charging. I have also tried starting the charge on my 808 pureview USB charger and then plugging the charger back into the N8 to the same effect as plugging it into the laptop.
I have been trying to find the reason why it keeps happening and I still can't find out why but i think the battery is not the main problem to it, I think it's the phone.
Just bought a brand new nokia 603 as a gift to partner but almost cannot charging by adapter (charge by USB to laotop still OK). Very disappoint. The new guy is lying on Nokia care and be disassembled T_T. How can Nokia QC procedure passed a basic prolem?
I switched from a 9000 to a 9700 so I bought mini to micro adapters to use on my car charger and my USB cable so that I wouldn't have to buy a bunch of new chargers.
When I plug my USB cable into my Belkin power block or cigarette adapter it won't charge, but if I plug in my wall charger or plug the cable into my USB port on my computer, it will charge my 9700. Both the power block and the cigarette adapter will charge my iPod, so I know it isn't the power block.
Has anyone else had this problem and found a solution?
