Just got my Lumia 920 and very happy with it... Ex Iphon user and BB for work, cut the SIM car, stuffed it in Nokia and Magic on the go.Anyway, findin my way arund it nice and easy. One thing though: how can I listen to Ringtone before selecting it for when poeple call?? When I hold finger on the tone I want, only option is to delete it.

I downloaded the recovery tool from MS site but when i click on my device i get the message package not available for this device.
I've recently upgraded to the Lumia 900 and have downloaded some sound clips which I would like to assign to various features like new mail, text message etc. However, it seems that I can only assign the downloads to contacts and not any other feature. Can I only utilise the sounds installed on the phone or am I missing something really simple?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI distinctly remember setting a separate ring-tone for one of my favorites. But then, out of the blue, her ring tone switched to the default. I was just trying to edit the contact. But when I select a new ring tone, it no longer previews. I can select one, but not have it play right away.
I tried powering the phone off and back on, but still cannot preview the ring tones. I played around with the "compose ringtones" option that makes a ring tone out of the phone number, but that doesn't work because it does it for each phone number for each favorite. So that I would have to memorize more than 10 similar ring tones. But at least I could press the play button and preview the tones. That tells me it is not the default sound playing app that is the issue.
I am trying to get the custom ringtones onto my 920 but zune does support the 920, how to transfer the mp3 tones so that the custom folder appears in the ringtone section. The phone is using windows 8.

In Maps 3.03 you can only zoom to the geographical center of the route (which is useless). View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a problem with my nokia n86, when I go to Photos > Captured photos and I "travel" by the months that the pictures were taken, for some pictures, the preview image is completely different than the actual image! For example, I browse the phone for some the pictures taken in september 2011.
Then, when I choose one and try to use it, or even if I enlarge the picture I chose, I find out that the preview is plain wrong. This bug is for most of the pictures I took. This is really annoying - I can't find pics I took and use them. I must move them all to the computer. Also restart wont fix it. And I tried to update the software but it is the latest.
How to go back to 8.1 from the 10 preview build i have reset my phone several times and still nothing no matter what i do i cant seem to go back iam worried iam going to be stuck with it till july when the full build comes out if thats the month it does....
View 7 Replies View RelatedI've just recently got my 1020, I love it, I'm new to Windows Phone, I've been on iPhone since it's inception. When I take a photo on the 1020, and view it straight after, is it showing me the 41mp (or 34mp perhaps) version or the 5mp version? In settings it's set to take both 5mp and 34mp. But it seems as though the quality of the photos is quite low, especially when you zoom in a little! I'm still trying to work out if there's an improvement when I export it to the computer, maybe this is something to do with viewing it on the phone? I used the HD Photo Viewer app, I didn't notice a difference but maybe I will after a take more photos.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've downloaded the windows recovery toolkit. It'll let me download the firmware (1.6gb roughly) but then it tells me that it can't find my phone after it finishes the download.
I made the mistake of putting the tech preview on my main driver and my battery is dying ridiculously fast (among other instabilities)...
Upgraded to newest build, all photos, etc. have sync'd, but not a single text message has downloaded from prior to installing this preview. I've changed every setting I can think of, but nothing works....I've never had this issue with 8.1. I let it sit overnight on wifi, and , I'm having no luck at all. Not trying to be pessimistic, but I hope my texts aren't gone. I really don't want to have to go back to 8.1 to get them back, as I'm digging WP10.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have used my Icon fine with the Preview for Developers version of WP 8.1, until the latest update.Since then, I've had trouble booting the phone when doing a soft reset (it took 3 cycles of going to the red Verizon screen, sitting there for a minute, rebooting on its own before it loaded WP). Also, I had an issue with the lock screen becoming unlockable, and looking like a screenshot of the start screen... kind of hard to describe, but the Start screen slid up like the lock screen, but without the keyboard to unlock. That's happened twice in the last few days and I had to do soft resets (which led to the issue mentioned above).
Today, the phone spontaneously just rebooted itself, while sitting unused on a table. Very odd, haven't seen that before.I should mention that when I first installed the update, I got a Blue Screen error when it booted up, and I had to reboot manually.
I installed a new camera update on my 1020 the other day and I can no longer preview the photo immediately after taking the picture.
The only way to view it now is by checking it in the gallery. It was handy to preview the photo to check whether I needed to re-shoot it due to blurriness, blinking etc..
I've checked all the settings and I can't find an option to bring it back.
My girlfriend's Lumia 1020 is unbelievably slow. It takes forever to load apps like Messenger or WhatsApp, etc.
Any app in general. Just really slow to load up. It's also laggy sometimes.
WP is a really efficient system, so there must be a software-related fix, as the hardware is still good. She is running WP 8.1 Developer Preview. She doesn't have a ton of apps, and she closes her apps after using them. I know she doesn't have a lot of space left of storage, around 1.2 GB, but it's something.
I've just updated my Lumia 1020 to Windows 10 preview 10572. Everything seems ok but for one thing - I can't install the twitter app. It's in the store an allows me to start installing, but it either fails after completing installation, or after restoring user data. I then get an error message with the error code 0x8103010F. I have tried soft resetting several times, but it will not install the app in full. Every other app seems fine, it's just the twitter app that has the issue.

However, if I remove the memory card, all the ringtones are available again. If I put the card back in, they're gone again !
What's wrong ?
BTW, by default in what folder are ringtones stored ? I couldn't find them...
I am trying to assign a ringtone to a contact on a E51 with latest firmware.When editing the contact, I select Options->Ringing tone, and then the only two selections available are "Download sounds" and "Default tone", even though I have many ringtones which show up when changing the ringtone for a profile.I thought this is something I had been able to do in the past.The only thing different now is that I have my contacts synchronized with a Mail for Exchange (3.0) account, could that be the problem?The same thing happens if I try to assign a ringtone to a group. How can I fix this so I can assign ringtones to specific contacts?

This can't be right, I could do that even in my old Nokia (3110 or something like that). How to do that? At least there's got to be a 3rd party program for that available in Ovi.

Except for one of my contacts, I can not seem to set either mp3's or aac's as a custom ringtone for a contact. Though I have gone through the process multiple times, only my custom default ringtone plays when I receive a call.
I would appreciate any and all help that will assist me in getting this resolved. To say I am slightly frustrated would be an understatement.
there is a plug-in for custom ringtones per contact! it is in the Extras repository open xterm apt-get install per-contact-ringtones you will notice that it is integrated with the contacts manager.after you open a contact, tap the menu and you will now have an option "custom ring tone"
