Nokia :: How To Get An OLDER Version Of PC Suite

I'm a Mac user - OS X 10.6. My Nokia is 3500 classic. I have 5000 SMS messages in it that I need to download to some safer location and I cannot access either the Inbox or Sent Messages with my Mac - only images and music folders.I have an old laptop running Windows XP (with no internet connection) so I downloaded the latest PC suite to my Mac and transported it to the XP laptop via memory stik.The latest version of PC suite refuses to install on the XP laptop saying that the OS version is not supported. It is XP 5.1 service pack 1. I do not wish to upgrade the junk laptop.

I updated my phone's fw to find out there's no Maps for it at the Nokia web site. When trying to start the app, it prompts me to update itself which seems to be impossible. Is there any way to delete the maps icon? I don't want to have it around if it is useless.Or, is there an older installer that my phone accepts, somewhere to be downloaded?

I've noticed that the last few trips to the US have cost me more than usual in terms of data roaming. I typically only use BBM when I travel South.Is it possible that BBM 5.0 uses more data than the previous versions? Could the addition of the profile pictures, and other added functionality have increased the data requirements?
An average day of BBM usage for me would be around 100kb previously, now it seems to be just under 200kb. The cost difference is negligible, but it got me thinking about the efficiently of 5.0

I am trying to update FROM Ovi Suite 2.1.1.1 to the newer version. The download process NEVER ends. 2 screen shot are attached. In the 2nd you clearly see some counter overrun (65518MB / 17MB). I have already: uninstalled; download new version; installed. Same scenario.

When I try to use Ovi Suite's own software updating feature, it can't download the update completely but after 16M/16M informs me about server/firewall problems. I alternatively tried to use my web browser with star downloader and after downloading everything it tries to catch file info from Nokia but then the connection is dropped. I had the same problem with PC Suite, so problem is probably how my computer and Nokia support site discuss together. But is the solution (as Nokia support QA suggest) to drop your virus software and firewall down. For me that sounds quite strange. Any help?

When I synch my iPhone via iTunes my notes on my iPhone keep getting replaced by an older version (presumably saved on my computer). How do I maintain my notes on my iPhone without being replaced by whatever is on my computer?Also, how do I restore to the previous notes on my iPhone?

When I plug the cable in my phone and notebook, the phone asks me to select the connection type. I select PC Suite. I have downloaded the latest version, but PC Suite does not connect with my phone. I use Windows XP Home Edition SP2I don't have a clue about the cable type, but it fits. There is no SD card in it

I am using Nokia E63 Mobile Device and Nokia PC Suite version - 7.1.60.0 - The problem is "Connect to Internet" is not working - I am using Nokia E63 Bluetooth Modem option and 'Airtel India' as connection - but I am getting error message as "Failed to connect to the network! In reading up on iPhone firmware v3.1.2 seems preferred if one wants to unlock.In shopping for a new (to me) iPhone most seem to have 3.1.3 - the unlock procedure for this does not seem for the fainthearted.So, my question is where I might find a DIY guide for reverting to older firmware (i.e. 3.1.2) - assuming such is possible.

I used the Ovi suite to install the free maps on my E72 which work great but the software itself is very poorly written, too many bugs and problems so i would like to uninstall it and use the PC suite instead. can I now update my phone using the PC suite with it's updater software or do I have to now rely on the Ovi suite.
The reason I ask instead of having two pieces of software is i want to a Vista/XP (two machines) clean install followed by a Ghost DVD so the smaller image the better (plus i dont like to have **bleep** installed on my machine:-)

How can I make my nokia E71 sync back with PC Suite after I started using OVI Suite? I have a Nokia E71, and i was using Nokia PC Suite to sync it with my outlook 2007 it all worked fine, contacts, to do notes and calendar (i wasn't syncing mail cuase i use gmail), untill the new ovi suite came out and i decided to try it since It sounded better.turns out It really sucked this ovi suite!! one of the worst softwares I've ever used, it duplicated all of the appointments that had color categories in outlook 2007, it is dead slow to sync!!!(i mean reeeaaly slow), even tough the Suite integrates more stuff in to one place it has reduced funcionality to sync stuff with my phone, it offers less funtions, not to mention that the user interface sukcs (its poorly desingned, it takes long to accses stuff, it shows me stuff as if it was advertisement).PC suite was very simple but funcional, oviously i went back to pc suite, to my surprise i couldn't sync, pc suite & the phone would do as if they were syncing, but when i checked at the end it wouldn't sync stuff.

I got this phone 3 months ago, and it paired with PC Suite perfectly, till few days ago, when i lost connection with it, and now PC Suite and OVI Suite can't find my phone. I checked bluetooth device that im using, and made sure that phone bluetooth is on. In Attachment is shown how PC Suite and Bluetooth react when i try to reconnect the phone.

Have a N900. Got the phone to work against Smart Suite and later Ovis Suite very well for the first 3 weeks. Then the trouble started. I used it both with USB cable and BTooth. First my synchronization with Lotus Notes calendar stopped (have to go by the PC), then contacts and messages. And today it does not even recognize the phone as a compatible phone. In the whole period I have been installing all kind of applications. My suspicion is that the trouble is due to an installation of a particular application - my question is:Anyone that got an idea what might have caused this?? Hope for help without re-intsalling the machine.
