Are you experiencing a slow GPS fix on your E72 using ovi maps? Frustrated that the problem persist without any solutions? Your phone plan doesn't allow the use of 3G or any equivalent service? Worry no more people. I have a solution!
1) Go to Menu > Control panel > Settings > General > Positioning > Positioning method
2) Once you'r in Positioning Methods, disable ALL positioning methods including integrated GPS.
3) Count to 10, and enable the relevant positioning methods. I usually enable Integrated GPS, Wi-Fi/Network and Network Based. There is no need to use A-GPS for this.
4) Go to Ovi Maps and drive/walk/fly. It should get a fix within 1 minute or so.......
When I go to http://maps.ovi.com/ on my PC there is always a long wait (typically 5 minutes) while it downloads data before I can use the site or even login. What is it downloading and why? I live in Huddersfield so why does it finally change from the unwanted world map to an unwanted map of Birmingham? Am I doing something wrong (I do, of course, regularly clear out my temp files)
Well I have purchased n82 a month ago now my mobile is acting very slow, if I use nokia maps and exit from it, my phone hang after it I have to turn off then turn on the phone to access the options. Second problem is GPS satellite finding no connection to the satellites even for a second. I installed Garmin Mobile Xt 5.00.80 when I'm going to run the Garmin the logo shows then it turn back to menu nothing is happened.
This phone has been incredibly slow when using OVI maps or just at random times there will be no response from any buttons. I just had a "lock up" event and the flash bulb turned on by itself and stayed on until I removed the battery. Very slow to get to camera mode as well, sometimes up to ONE MINUTE before it starts up.
I have a C6-01 and I noticed that when Nokia Maps 3.09 is online, route calculating is irritating slow. Why is that? I cannot think of any reason for that, since Nokia Maps is set to ignore traffic infoI also have Garmin Mobile XT on my phone, and as Nokia Maps 3.09, it only has the map data for the South Brazil region. Both maps have similar size. If Nokia Maps is set to go online, it is way slower on route calculation than Garmin Mobile XT is. don't understand why Nokia Maps 3.09, being a state of art nav system, developed specifically for Nokia Belle, is so beaten by the humble Garmin Mobile XT, which is an outdated system, developed for Linux in the first place !lso, I learned from my experience with Nokia Maps 3.09 that route calculating time is dependent on the amount of maps loaded on the phone. The less maps loaded, the faster is route calculating.
I have had my s6 for about a month now and so far so good however i do have a few issues. when i want to dial a number and i press the numbers ( i order to find name of person im ringing) it takes a while for the names to appear whereas my s3 was much more responsive. if i pressed 6 instantly all the names begining with m n o would pop up.
also on two occasions i tried using google maps. on my s3 it would give me 3 alternative routes but s6 only giving me one. it also keeps losing gps signal and the map is very out of sync it would show me on the wrong road.
I have a N85 Navi which I bought less than a year ago. I updated this week the maps and the application (latest version)and added one voice for the navigation. After this update when I open the Maps and select Settings and Navigation (to change i.e. voice), Maps closes automatically without any error messages. I can open all the other settings sub-menus. Any ideas why this is happening? Do I have the to re-install the application, maps and voices?
I am using Nokia Maps 3.03 on my E71 (language: German) plus Nokia Map Loader 3.0, but I am experiencing several problems: Nokia Maps goes online via Internet for a few seconds (which costs me) although I set it to my Wireless connection. How can I switch that off? Every time I load a new map (and voices) via Map Loader and then start the software on my E71, it tells me that the maps are out-dated and I need to delete them. But then I do not see any maps in the software, and also the load of the voice is gone.
I have finally moved into the 21st Century and have had my 5800MX for about a month now.Type RM-356 Firmware Version 50.0.00.5
I have a problem with my Maps Application. Firstly I only have 9 icons on the Maps display page instead of the 10 that is shown on the Nokia website, I have found I do not have the Michelin guides........any ideas why?
I cannot download the Here and Now 2.0, it states that the Installation failed and have tried many times to reinstall it. Does this have anything to do with the missing Michelin Guide icon not being there?
I updated today to Maps 3.01. (To be noted that Ovi Suite still considers there is a new version of Maps available and would download and install 3.01 again any times I click on update.) When starting Maps the load screen with progress bar appears, then I can see an "empty" map. No keys work. After a few seconds (around 10 or so) the phone restarts.I deleted Cities folder and the file QF, rebooted, reinstalled etc. nothing helps.
The maps in my Nokia X6 16gb are gone after i ran an update in which it says will delete the old maps and voices to replace newer ones. Upon completion of the update, when i checked maps that are available in my device,Instead of new updated maps, there is only 1 map left which is Hong Kong and Macau, and i don't live in either one of it. Tried downloading the maps through the Ovi Suite, always got the message "The connection to the Ovi Maps server timed out"
I've bought a new 5800 Xpress music recently and have three questions with Ovi maps: 1. I don't see any satellite (photo) maps when selecting the satellite mode in the display options; instead, the map is just filled with a pattern of alternating dark green and light green linear areas. How do I enable real satellite data, as shown in the attached picture? 2. The update speed of the map when navigating on foot or by car seems very slow. Is there some way to increase / improve this? 3. The phone doesn't seem to recognize really well if I hold it vertically or horizontally. Can I improve that behavior, or switch between manually?
About a month ago I bought the Nokia 5800 as I wanted the free Sat Nav, I have version 3.01 on the phone, when I phoned Nokia about something else I asked them about version 3.03 and they told me I could not install this until I had used all the days of my 10 free trial, then I was to ring them again and they would help install it for me, after 55 minutes on the phone we had no joy, so I decided to try myself and did it first time. Now the question I need answered with your help is, I am going to Italy in June and when I open the GPS (offline) it works fine in the UK where I live, and when I input the town Pisa, Italy it finds it on the maps, does this mean that the Sat Nav will work in Italy or is this just a map?
When you download version 3.03 does it download all the maps? Also is there anyway I can find out which maps I have on the phone?
using Ovi Maps 3.03. Sorry if this has been asked already but a couple of things :How do I check what maps are actually installed on my phone? How do I know if there are newer map versions available than whats installed on my phone?Im asking this because I noticed the Ireland map on maps.ovi.com is more up to date than whats on my phone. I installed the Ireland map again using ovi suite on my pc but it's still missing some new details that are found on the maps.ovi.com map.
I`ve tried to upgrade my Nokia 6210 Navigator from Nokia maps 2.0 to Ovi maps 3.01 but it. Doesn’t seems to work. If i try to upgrade it with the old Nokia map updater it just says: Cannot get enough information about the phone unspecified error. Can anyone tell me if this is possible? I also get a error message when i try to use this file that ovikovi posted (http://static.s2g.gate5.de/nokiamaps client/nokia_ maps_3.01_09wk44_b01_s60_3.1_lm_rom.sis). The error message that shows up in the phone is: It doesn’t work to install this file, the unit is built in! And in Ovi Suite it says: The file is in use. Another application is using nokia_ maps_3.01_09wk44_b01_s60_3.1_lm_rom.sis /I´ve also tried to uninstall the version og Nokia maps that is installed on the phone but that doesn’t seems to be an option ! Any one who has a clue of something that can solve my problem?
Looking at my Installed Applications on my 5800XM I realised that there are the following two entries:
Nokia Maps 9MB
Ovi Maps 7MB
Are they supposed to be both there? Shouldn't the Nokia Maps application have been overwritten when updated to Ovi Maps? Can I manually remove the Nokia Maps application to free these 9MB of C: memory?
After opening Ovi Maps, and going to any function. The software/program, shuts itself down before I can proceed to 'my position', 'drive', or even 'walk'. I cannot even seacrh or go to settings.
i have maps 3.04v? i used Nokia Suite to transfer maps of Bosnia and Hercegovina, Croatia and Serbia. Nokia Suite also transferred Europe base map. But i think i can only view base map of Europe. I cant view detiled maps of cityies.
I my dad recently bought the Nokia N8 after playing about with mine, I recieved the phone unlocked and set about setting it up for him, though i'm having foul problems with the maps! i've installed them, re-installed them, uninstalled and then reinstalled again and no luck, there wasn't even a Maps icon any time it was installed, but on my Nokia N8 when it was installed if went straight onto my home screen? how can I finally download these maps to this phone for my dad? he's starting to become really impatient because he needs to use the maps for his job
In Maps Updater you can or could select all the countries & provinces you wanted then start the download and come back later when it had finished. Using Maps in OVI Suite, you have to select and download each item one-by-one. I download a couple of entire countries plus about 8 individual French provinces. It's a real pain to have to keep coming back to see if one item has finished so you can select the next, especially since after each French province finishes the selection always jumps back to 'Albania' and I have to navigate back to France again. Sorry, even if you are on commission from the Albanian tourist authority, I have no plans to visit Albania for the time being!
Seriously though, is it so hard to retain the tick boxes to select all the maps and voices you want before you kick of the downloads, so you don't have to spend an hour watching progress bar and can do something more useful with your time? I just find the functional redesign baffling. Next time I'll go back to using Maps Updater, and hope this isn't going to be entirely superseded by OVI Suite, at least until it has the multiple-choice tick-boxes!
I recently bought my Nokia 5230 and it came with the programm Nokia Maps (Version 3.03 (246)) installed on "C Telephone memory" using 9MB there. Then Nokia gladly announced "free world voice guided car navigation". In order to get this free car navigation I followed the Nokia instructions on the internetpage and installed Ovi maps (Version 3.03 (246)) which is now in "D Telephone memory" using 7 MB there.(That is the information shown when I look into the details of my installed programms.I then loaded the necessary maps and the voice file with Nokia Map Loader from my computer into my micro SD card (E) . Navigation is working extremely well! But: What is "D Telephone Memory"? According to the filemanager of my phone no D exists! More important: May I safely deinstall the preinstalled Nokia maps now that I have Ovi maps installed? phone is set to german and the designations above are translations into english and may not correspond exactly to the english designations of Nokia phones set to english.
I think i know that Nokia Maps was renamed a Ovi Maps, but then I have these two softwares installed seperately in my E72. I mean I got a Nokia Maps (6MB) and then a Ovi Maps (8MB) seperately installed on my device.
Now do I require both of them or may be just ovi can suffice?
Nokia maps erases the maps on every second startup. The situation is the following:I run Nokia maps, it erases the mapsI connect the phone to the pc; nokia suite says he has to update the maps on my phone, I say okafter the update, there are no maps on the phone, so I chose one or two and install itdisconnect from the pc, run Nokia Maps, there are the mapsI quit from Maps and start it again, it wants to erase my maps againand there is no choice for either I let it to erase it, or it quitsAnyone?
When I bought nokia e72, I have reveived lot's of maps (almost 4GB). I want to free-up my memory card by removing some of maps. I try to do it in ovi application, but there is not possibility to do that. I can see all maps that are in my phone, but how to remove some of them?
I recently bought a nokia E7 (Blue) US Version but I am using it in Canada. I updated it to Symbian Anna and so on. Everytime I try to add new maps from the cell phone itself it says (downloading list, please wait) this takes FOREVER, then i try to do it by nokia ovi suite, well that is even worse, sometimes it says THERE SEEMS TO BE A PROBLEM WITH CONNECTING THE ONLINE MAPS, sometimes it says some crazy errors (COULDNT CONNECT TO THE SERVICE, ETCC). I deleted the E:/cities folder + QF file, I opened the Ovi map apps and they got restored and so on but still nothing happens. Is there any other way to add some map I mean MANUALLY? I need the USA and Canada map, (voice guidande male us), I read some discussion from Ovikudy on how to do it manually but i need theses files.
BTW, I regret buying this Nokia E7 big time I should have listened to my friends and go to ANDROID. I know nokia is killing symbian but please fix those MAP serverS.
I am confused.about this as, in my application manager, ovi maps is not listed but I have ovi maps installed and working on my N97. With this configuration I had about 20mb of available space on my C drive.I then installed the update to Ovi Maps (v.3.4) and suddenly Nokia Maps now appears listed in my installation manager (still no mention of Ovi Maps) but Ovi Maps is still the working programme. I now have only 4 mb of available space on the C drive. It seems that Ovi Maps must somehow be built in. Since it works fine without Nokia Maps, I would be better off deleting Nokia Maps.It is a bit confusing. Can anyone clarify please?
first, will maps work in 2700 classic at all ? second, will it work offline without using gprs ? third, can i update my maps s/w since .sis file dont work in 2700 ?
I have a problem with viewing the maps in nokia ovi suit. I just bought a new Nokia E72 I installed OVI Maps but when I connect device to Ovi Suit click on maps and click for Europe, All, Asia or whatever it does nothing, it doesn't give me a choice to install the maps of particular countries. How shluld I fix it?
My phone has gotten to where when I am typing a text message it'll get so slow and almost freeze up and just stop and I got to wait and let it come back before I finish. I am running .131 on my Alltel 8330. Also, the 507 error I believe it is, happens to me a lot & I have had to completely reinstall the whole OS so many times. My battery doesn't really last very long at all. It doesn't compare to many that I hear about & my signal just isn't that great. Sometimes it runs good & won't really be that slow or lag but these past couple days it has been lagging bad & even with scrolling. Memory is NOT an issue I can reboot up with 45 & it'll go down to around 39 throughout the day.
I've tried .127 OS that my phone came with, used .131, used a hybrid before and tried .169 but the notification problem is too annoying.
Howdie to all Nokia brethren (and sisters)! Just purchased a 5800 Navigation with preinstalled Nokia Maps 2.00. is it worth it at this point to "upgrade"/ replace that with the Ovi Maps? The reason I am asking is after some reading and researching 5800N doesn't have too much support just yet from Nokia. I am afraid to screw it up from the very beginning as I have read the crowd has some issues with the software/apps freezing/malfunctioning on the 5800N edition.
