Nokia :: E55 How To Set Exact Address Of My Destination?
Jun 21, 2010
I am trying ti use the GPS in my E55. I have a problem. I start the application, MAPS and then select CAR. I'd like to write the exact address where I need to go, but this seems to be impossible. The only thing I am allowed to write is the city (or, in the best cases, the train station, the cinema, etc). But I'd like to go to the house of my girl friend! Any idea?
I bought a used Nokia E52 with a hope to have maps in the pocket and GPS.After certain struggle I managed to install all maps and it seems to be working. However When I search for a street address, unless there is something on this street (in locations database.. like parking, hotel or restaurant), it doesn't fidn it at all.I looked at many forums, but I can't figure out if it's a bug or a feature. Can one just type a street address in OVI maps (let's say "Rue Saint-Bon, Paris"..or "6 Rue Saint-Bon, Paris") and expect it to find it. It seems the most basic and most important feature of GPS navigation - to find street address. But it just doesnt' work!
I am running Maps 3.03 on an E71. While this version provides free turn-by-turn navigation, which is great, I find that providing the destination address is much less convenient than it was in the previous, non-free version. Before, you'd enter a city from a menu and having done that, you got a menu of valid streets within that city and so on. Now you just get a single text-input box into which you have to type the address (and deal with the system's invariably wrong attempts to complete things).
This step backward provides an additional incentive to want to be able to choose the destination address by indicating an entry in your contacts database. Navigate me to THIS restaurant, or the home address of THIS person, etc. There appears to be no way to do this, unless I'm missing something. And, inexplicably, there also appears to be no way to copy-paste an address from the contacts app to the Maps app. I've attempted to check the documentation, which in Nokia E71 tradition, is useless.
If I'm missing something here, I'd appreciate being enlightened by someone. If I'm right about this, this is another example of why Nokia's market share in the US is miniscule and why their share worldwide is dropping. Smartphones cram a lot of capability into a very small package, which places a huge premium on user-interface design. This is a major factor, perhaps THE major factor, in the iPhone's success, despite the fact that it's not so great for making calls (unlike Nokia phones, which excel in that department).
Could someone tell me exactly what is the current status of GPS on the N900? As I understand you can see where you are but there is no voice guidance. Is it possible to enter a destination address and have the phone guide you walking? Out of interest will the N900 ever be able to support video conferencing or is there a hardware problem? Thanks, Ian.
I have a Nokia N8 and my maps app always has me between 'within 400m-3km of my location' (also happens with Google Maps). I've taken this back to the shop twice who assured me they fixed it but I'm still not getting an exact location.
N8 Nokia Maps 3.08 does not calculate the Time of arrival. It shows the estimated time of arriving only with the Hours, but no Minutes. This is so even at the Endpoint of the route.
Whenever I set a place and select "drive to", it always ask me: "Online connection required to enter the shop. Connect now?" when I select NO, it will not work. It can show where I am, but don't tell me how to go to my destination.
Before I upgraded my 5530, I could choose between phone and card memory for ovi store downloads. Now I cant any more n it keeps downloading n installing it to my phone. I cant seem to find where i can change that. Its not the case with app manager. When i install something from there, it asks me which location i want it installed into.
Ovi Maps 3.06 & later:Seems to support GPS Coordinates, Degrees Minutes & Seconds,Decimal Degrees (WGS84)

In Degrees, Minutes & Seconds,Latitude: N51 34 57,Longitude: E12 34 56,Becomes the following: 51 34 57n, 12 34 56e
In GPS coordinates,Latitude: N 51 34.950,Longitude: E 12 34.933,Becomes the following: 51 34.950n, 12 34.933e,To select any of the above formats, go to Menu > Settings > Application settings > Positioning > Notation prefernces.
I have put some location as my "home", and I don't know how to replace it.When you go on maps --> drive --> DRIVE HOME, you can easely get guidence to "home". How can I change this "home"?
or does it only go into the drive mode when you have it set up with a route? The map goes into idle when it's just on the normal "my position" readout.
I'm trying to install Ovi Maps, but I have not enough space in the phone memory so I want to use my memory card, like I did with all the other apps, but this time it doesn't prompt which drive to install, it just goes automatically in the phone internal memory.
I have Nokia Lumia 900 running Windows Mobile 7.5. The Nokia Drive running on it is 3.1.0.3206. It had been working great for me till 10 days back. Suddenly whenever I open the application and tap "Set destination", the app shuts down. The Nokia Drive then needs to be restarted.
It seems to have something to do with the destinations. The same behavior is also witnessed when I try to "Clear history" using Settings >> Clear history. In appears that the app on my cell phone does not like number of destinations stored, or a specific destination.
I have updated my Nokia 5800 and ever since when I try to go on the internet via Orange it won't let me. I can't even use or set up Wi-fi. When I go into settings and connectivity there is no option to select or search for WLAN. When I try to add new access point it tells me that my network destination needs to be set first.Any ideas what I need to do please?
I like my E72 but I have two problems that really annoy me.
1. In the past when ever I would write a new email I would get list of suggested email addresses in the "To" field. For example, if I would was to write the letter S I would get the email address of the people in my address book whose name starts with an S (sam, Sofia etc). for some reason this feature stopped working on my phone and I can't find how to make it work again. if I want to send an email I need to manually write the email address in the "To" field. The auto suggestion feature works perfectly on my wife's phone (an E72 with the same firmware - 22.007) but on my phone it won't suggest email addresses from my contacts.
2. Another problem is that my Gmail that is synced to the phone, through the Nokia Messenger server is locked on "hide emails older than 2 weeks". Now, I have hundreds of emails stored on my phone that dates to February 1st - the day I got the Phone.
Is there a way to delete these emails automatically, without deleting them on the Gmail account itself? It makes my phone really when going through the emails.
I entered the unlock pattern wrong a few times that my phone would allow me over ride this by letting me sign in with my gmail acc..phone wont let me sign in with my gmail and keeps saying invalid username or password but I can somehow use the exact same username and password to log on on my PC.
what's exact internal memory of x2-01,because my x2-01 shows only 40 mb in it..but others says that it's 55 mb..i restore factory settings many times & updated my phone software from nokia care centre..but it's still the same& by downloading games or apps..it became decreases day by day..tell me it's java ram memory also..how big size games & apps i can download to it...because in some aaps or games..it says out of memory error..even they're very smaller in size.
Have the same apps in the same places on both devices and keep them in sync? Both devices are running the latest iOS software.Obviously the phone app would not be on the iPod touch.I know I can spend an hour or two doing it manually but I would like to have it done automatically.
I won't get the exact time of message received on E63if I receive the msg when the mobile is switched off,, it shows the timing when the mobile is switched on
Well as the title says, I think someone has my exact PIN number. Not the 4 digit security PIN, the "unique" handheld code for BlackBerry's. I found it odd one day when my bbm friends were saying I was asking them "Who are you?".
And when my friends asked who "I" was, he said Thomas, which is not my name! I checked my own PIN, and the PIN of Thomas, it's the same! I never had this problem before. Could it be that just in a billionth of a chance that RIM had made 2 BlackBerry's with the same PIN? his BlackBerry and turns out it's the same as mine.
X10 Mini 2.1. How do yo set the correct time down to the right second? Whatever I try its like 30 seconds off. I try setting it 30 sec early compared to real time, and also 30 sec late. But it still changes minute when the real time says like 18:15:30 (hh:mm:sec). I am setting it to manual and Im using the TV as an indication for the exact time. But the phone always changes minute about 30 seconds wrong, no matter how I try.
Does the calories burned counter on the home page (where the timepiece is located) include the calories you burned during your workouts? I thought it did, but when I check my calories burned before I work out, then after, the math doesn't compute.
My iPhone 4 reached it's destination sort facility at 10:48 pm last night and it's about a 2 hour drive from me.Fedex hasn't updated since last night and still shows a 24th delivery date.. Can someone who uses fedex a lot confirm I'll get my iPhone today?
Since the last update I have had an issue sending pictures via text messages. At first I figured I needed to turn on WiFi calling to assist in sending...this worked for a time. But now it no longer works. I can receive images just fine. I put in an image of the error that my girlfriend sees when I send her a picture.
I can guarantee that it's not a data issue. I have excellent LTE and crazy fast WiFi.
I have tried everything I can imagine up and to a factory data reset. Which I did just this last weekend.
I can send images via email, hangouts, Facebook messenger etc. Just text message problems at this point. I like the stock app and would like to keep it.
I work as an IT specialist solving people's problems all day. I've had every HTC flagship since the EVO 4g and I'm finally stumped. This is a Sprint M8 btw.
My C6 has just decided it won't access the internet either through GPRS, WAP or WLAN.when I select wifi network, After enter password don`t work internet, also when I try to add a new access point from Settings>Connectivity>Destinations>New Access Point i get Error message... " unable to edit protected destination network". I made new destination but did not solved,it`s second time that it happen, first time I reset my phone, but know I install some programs and dont want to miss them,
