View 2 RepliesThis is the first time to be here. Just want to know if my Nokia 6220 Classic is one of the free OVI maps as mentioned here:

And if not is there is any possibility to be free?
I Got a Nokia 6220 Classic and I can't download free version of Ovi maps. Why? When will I be able to download it?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've recently updated my firmware version to 05.15, and upon starting Maps (sorry I don't know which version I have currently), I get an error saying "Cannot open application. Get latest version from nokia.com/maps". I've downloaded the appropriate file (selected using the tool on the website), but I cannot install version 3.01 as my phone will not install a .sis file. Is there a .sisx version of Maps which I'm obviously not seeing somewhere? Or am I barking up the wrong tree?
View 6 Replies View RelatedAbout a month ago I bought the Nokia 5800 as I wanted the free Sat Nav, I have version 3.01 on the phone, when I phoned Nokia about something else I asked them about version 3.03 and they told me I could not install this until I had used all the days of my 10 free trial, then I was to ring them again and they would help install it for me, after 55 minutes on the phone we had no joy, so I decided to try myself and did it first time. Now the question I need answered with your help is, I am going to Italy in June and when I open the GPS (offline) it works fine in the UK where I live, and when I input the town Pisa, Italy it finds it on the maps, does this mean that the Sat Nav will work in Italy or is this just a map?
When you download version 3.03 does it download all the maps? Also is there anyway I can find out which maps I have on the phone?
Is the newly announced Free turn by turn navigation applicable to 6220 Classic and N79 particularly in India?
View 6 Replies View RelatedHaving done a bit of research, I would just like to clarify things in respect to my phone which is a Nokia 6220 classic, running S60 3rd edition. I double checked the version against the list here:
http://www.zedge.net/forum/t/27995/s40-s60-or-s80-find-out-here/
And also in the phone itself. Am I correct to expect that running S60 gives me a good chance of getting the free navigation upgrades that have been talked about here? I'm not in any particular hurry; but if its likely that the upgrade is not coming, then I won't have to check back here every few days. Someone posted elsewhere that upgrades (for S60 devices?) were coming "in the first half of the year". Is that just rumour, or has Nokia said something official about it?
Maps 3.01 crashes for me whenever I select the "Synchronise with Ovi" option. I recently upgraded the firmware in my Nokia 6220c from 3.23 to 5.15. At first I could not install Maps 3.01 through maps updater on my PC but user OviKovi kindly posted the sis file and maps, in another thread, which I installed manually on my phone. That allowed me to run Maps 3.01. The only issue I have now is that I cannot synchronise with online Ovi Maps because the phone application crashes.
When I had firmware 3.23 installed with Maps 3.01 I could synchronise. Now I can't.
I`ve tried to upgrade my Nokia 6210 Navigator from Nokia maps 2.0 to Ovi maps 3.01 but it. Doesn’t seems to work. If i try to upgrade it with the old Nokia map updater it just says: Cannot get enough information about the phone unspecified error. Can anyone tell me if this is possible? I also get a error message when i try to use this file that ovikovi posted (http://static.s2g.gate5.de/nokiamaps client/nokia_ maps_3.01_09wk44_b01_s60_3.1_lm_rom.sis). The error message that shows up in the phone is: It doesn’t work to install this file, the unit is built in! And in Ovi Suite it says: The file is in use. Another application is using nokia_ maps_3.01_09wk44_b01_s60_3.1_lm_rom.sis /I´ve also tried to uninstall the version og Nokia maps that is installed on the phone but that doesn’t seems to be an option ! Any one who has a clue of something that can solve my problem?

View 5 Replies View RelatedJust upgraded the software version of my Nokia N85 (RM-333) to version : 31.00.2 Then installed the Nokia map loader, selected the countries and languages i was interrested in and waited for about 20 minutes for everything to be installed, though never got any message on my actual phone which was still connected via USB.
Downloads are complete, so i try nokia maps on my phone (which i used during the free trial when i got the phone) but it still wants me to buy the maps? So guess it's not free yet then for the N85, so that was a morning well wasted trying to sort all this out.
Today I read about the new Ovi Maps being available with Free voice guidance, etc. Why is not being made available on the N97 till the end of the month. Yet again, Nokia's flagship phone missed out and we all have to wait. Everything about this phone is one big long wait. We have to wait for software, updates - when will Nokia get this correct. Why is it availbale on the N97 mini and not the N97?

Does this mean that ovi maps isn't free after all? I used to have this free trial licence a year ago, and i am prompted to renew this licence.

- Free Drive navigation
- Free Walk navigation
- Free maps and map updates

- Free Lonely Planet guides
- Free Michelin guides
You thought Garmin and TomTom were in trouble when Google announced its free Navigation service? Wait until investors hear Nokia's news.Reuters is reporting that Nokia will offer free navigation on its smartphones. However, instead of just the US (the current Google limitation sans hacking), Nokia will be demonstrating its reach by offering free turn-by-turn directions in 74 countries and 46 languages - a move that should cover 20 million smartphones globally with Ovi Maps available in over 180 countries Update: The original San Francisco Chronicle report has been pulled but Google cache caught a bit more saying that Nokia's navigation service is "capable of operating completely offline" unlike Google Navigation which requires data connectivity.
Update 2: Nokia just made the download link live. Hey, where's the N97 and N900.
Update 3: And it's official. Starting today, Ovi Maps walk and drive navigation is free across the globe. Drivers receive turn-by-turn voice guidance including lane assistance, traffic information (in 10 countries including the US), and safety camera and speed warnings while pedestrians will be guided on shortcuts through parks and pedestrian-only zones in over 100 cities across the globe. It all works offline too, which should extend battery life and keep that navigation humming even while puttering about in data dead zones without racking up international roaming charges (take that, Google). From March 2010, all new Nokia GPS enabled smartphones will come installed with the new Ovi Maps application and pre-loaded with local country map data and walk and drive navigation with access to location-aware Lonely Planet and Michelin travel guides at no extra cost. Additional premium guides like a weather service and events / movies are also included. Just 10 devices from Nokia's massive catalog are available today a list that includes the N97 Mini, 5800 XpressMusic, 5800 navigation edition, E52, E55, E72, 5230, 6710 navigator, 6730 classic and X6.

Will Ovi Map 3.03 be compatible with the E71? Right now it isn't.
View 419 Replies View RelatedI am happy to annouce that Ovi Maps 3.03 is now available for the N97. To get Free Navigation on your device please take the following steps:
1) Check that you have the latest N97 FW: 20.0.019. Learn how to check your current version and update at www.nokia.com/softwareupdate?n97
2)Once you have this firmware, you can go to Software Update on your device and the new version will appear for download. You should also be prompted as you open the Maps application on your device (online connection required).
Last week i´ve successfully updated my n5800xpress music with the latest fw 40.000.05 through NSU. Now i need some help with Ovi maps. So far i see there is a map on my device. It based on v3.01 09 and map ver 0.1.22.103. In order to use free Ovi maps so i need Ovi maps ver 3.03. These are some of my questions.
1.How to update my old Ovi maps to the new ver 3.03 through PC?
2.As i´ve read some of the thread regarding Ovi mapsthat in some case i maybe have to uninstall the old version. But when i check it through Application manager i couldn´t find neither ovi maps or nokia map but there is an Ovi store client in there.
3.Off topic. I wonder why when i start my fone sometimes some of the pictures in the contacts bar is not really in phocus? any suggestion?
Why is the nokia free navigation not available on the n96. i understand its not available on the n97 due to the FW having bugs but that is being resolved, Does anyone no when it will be available for the n96 I dont pretend to know everything like some people on these boards i am just trying to help. Its not all about the kudos.
View 28 Replies View RelatedI have downloaded OVI maps 3.04 and I still get the message "Online connection required to enter the shop".
Do I need a license # or do I have to uninstall something?
I know the free license for S60 3rd edition, Feature Pack 1 devices haven't come yet (except for E71 and E66). But nokia can give our poor old devices working on FP1 free navigation license for life time. As they used to provide free voice guided navigation for free for a week (or 7 days). So the same way they could provide our devices with free navigation for lifetime if they can't make new version of maps then. The OVI maps 3.0 works flawlessly in N82, N95. If nokia somehow decides to give the activation key for lifetime navigation then we all users would be very grateful.
So anybody who likes this post could support me and please give kudos to me. We can mail this post to nokia and if they listens poor chap's cry then we would also be among the ones using free navigation in our phones!
this is for the all the people nokia and phone operators has felt to screw overseeing as i cannot update my nokia 5800 from v30 to v31 i cannot use the free maps service seeing as im on the phone network 3 and ive heard they do not release updates at all, and my friend has a nokia e71 and also cannot use the new version of maps.therefore, dont you think that the previous version of maps should be made free so that people who have happened to choose the wrong phone or network operator can also use maps for free.i really do not see why i have to pay £X amount a year just because im on a different network (not blaming nokia at this point) so would it really be that much trouble for them to make the previous ovi maps free to all or at least make the new ovi maps avaiable to people with lower firmware
