Jun 22, 2010I bought my nokia 5233 sometime in january it worked fine until april or so, it would switch off automatically.At first I disregarded it thinking that i would have pressed the power button by mistake.Since two days this phenomenon is happening atleast about 7-8 times.I wouldn't like to take my phone to the Nokia care yet coz here in my country the Nokia care guys try to fleece you saying something has gone wrong which is not covered by warranty.Would any of you guys help me in diagnosing the problem so that I can fix it myself before I take it to nokia care?

Feb 13, 2010I have bought a new nokia 5233 hand set a week back but IM facing a problem now.My phone is getting restarted and then the date and time is being changed automatically don't know why it is happening like HTH but the date is being changed to 2020 ,I have formatted my phone but the problem still persists. Once in a day the phone will switch off and switches on by itself and changes the time and date when it restarts .Anyone please suggest me anything to solve this problem Or should I contact nokia care about this problem

Mar 6, 2011Mainly happens while on facebook mobile, and will occure while typing completely randomly. The reply from support is simply update software, I can't see why I have to do all this, as apart from anything else I don't currently have a phone line for internet due to illegal BT sales activity! It is also suggested that I send phone off in a jiffy bag to be repaired if unsuccessful, and what do I do for a phone in the mean time?? Not only that they suggest that it will cost me if it is not a fault they cover.

Oct 21, 2012Like the title says, my 5230's web browser crashes whenever I try and load a forum thread, I was able to do this a while ago and I've not run out of data or anything, there are no music files, no photos, no apps on the phone. I have reset the settings to factory but nothing has helped.I'm starting to get fed up of this phone, it has good navigation properties but that is just about the only thing it has going for it now.

Mar 16, 2010When I use the browser application that came with the phone (earth logo), the internet connection got interrupted randomly. Sometimes it's 20 sec and sometimes it's 5 min.It doesn't really matter where I use it, school, home or other Wifi areas.I was told there's no solution to this problem. it's just a known Nokia issue, but I believe there's got to be something I could do. I tried downloading another browser from Ovi. It worked fine on WiFi without password/security. But when it comes to school's network or other password-protected Wifi, it is not able to connect without using the orginal browser to connect first and leaving it on while using the new browser.

As far as I know, these 2 positioning methods do not require any kind of GPS chip in the phone as these positioning methods decides your location by GPRS connection.But, in the manual, it is given that on the left side of the handest (NOKIA 5233), it has GPS chip?
So, what does that mean? Nokia 5233 does have a real GPS?

Jul 12, 2011Most applications don't seem to have an exit option and the only way I know to close them is the via the "Back" button at bottom right.
In the native Web Browser this button doesn't close the browser but just goes back to the last web page; and then the next last, etc until it runs out of previous pages and then closes.
It's an awful way of closing the browser, going back though all previous pages; and often there are warnings that you may be re-posting data again.
If I press the left menu button I can get to "Windows" and if there are more than one there is a "minus" sign top right allowing it to be closed. But when there is only one window there is no minus sign.
So if I've been doing some interaction with my bank and want to close the single main window I have to select "Menu", "Windows", create a "New window", select the new window, go back to the "Menu" choose "Windows" again, find the minus sign on the original window press to close it, then go back to the new window and press "Back" to close that one.

Jan 24, 2010I'm having a lot of trouble concerving battery life on my Curve 8330.I have done all the usual recommended things to save the battery life.I understand that one can do the ALT + ESC to view a list of open applications. However this can be cumbersome.
My questions specifically is...Does anyone know of any application or setting whereby applications might be automatically shut down when not in use, or when you navigate away without closing?Ideally this would be someting that would only affect apps that you defined as not necessary to be running all the time.
