Motorola Xoom :: Authentication Methods Not Supported By Server
Sep 11, 2011
I'm trying to setup a pop3 email account and have run into a problem.I can connect to the pop3 server okay but when it tries to connect to the smtp server I get the error message "authentication methods not supported by server".I am using a 3G/Wi-Fi Xoom running 3.2 and using the stock email client.I am using the same settings as my laptop and desktop. Port 25, no security.I have seen this problem reported on the internet a number of times but have not found a solution.
I would like to show two images on the Xoom side by side as a comparison - can't do this using the current image gallery tool (android 3.2.1 - timely updates by the way Moto!).I had the idea for a concept utilising multi-touch - whereby when views images in the grid - if you touch two images at the same time then after a second both images will be held up next to each other.Maybe this line of thinking could be carried to other areas like file management - each touching two file icons allows a file content comparison or whatever. etc.
I just got a Xoom wifi with 4.1.1 as a gift. I have a droid 4 and many mp4 videos that play on it with no problem. My Xoom will not even allow me to transfer the video to it saying the format is not supported. Why can I play these on droid 4 and not on Xoom. Is there a problem with the software in the Xoom?
I got my Xoom w wifi for my birthday in April, and it says I have Adobe Flash, but....when I go to a Flash website , it directs me to the Adobe website to get the download?
This just started today. I can't get into the Market app on my XOOM 3G VZW. It only pops up a dialog saying:"Authentication required. Pleas log into your Google account."with an "ok" button.I've tried everything I can think of:restarted the XOOMTried using both wi-fi and 3G connectionsused the browser to verify my Google account appears on the search headerOpened the Gmail app and done a refreshForce-stopped the Market appcleared it's dataensured I can still access the markt using my Droid 1.tried accessing both from my home screen shortcut and from the Apps pageThe version showing in the Manage Applications page is 1.0.27Oh, while I can't go into the market from it's application icon. I did notice that several applications updated in the background, and from the "Updates Available" notification, I was able to go to the "My Apps" part of the Market app.
Trying to setup my email - pop3 goes through fine but, smtp comes up with 'Server does not support authentication'. All full stops etc., are in the right place, why did it set up fine on the Galaxy S and not the S2?
I prefer to hide my wireless SSID but when I do this my android devices don't see the network. Even if I am already connected with my Xoom then switch to hidden SSID mode the Xoom disconnects. Same for my HTC Thunderbolt. My network is shown in the list of remembered networks as out of range. When in hidden mode. This does not affect my laptops.
They stay connected if I switch to hidden mode and they have a setting to connect to hidden networks that have previously been configured. I cannot find a setting for hidden network support on either android device. Hiding the SSID is not a new concept. Is this not supported in the android network stack? I have a strong random PW on my wifi so I am not terribly worried about it but I would be nice to have the option.
My Razr keeps asking for WPA authentication? This does not happen always sometimes it asks several times a day and for authentification password, sometimes it goes for several days with no problem. It bugs me quite a lot to repeat the same procedure again and again. Is there a reason the mobile keeps forgeting the authentification? Is there a way to make it remember?
Since yesterday afternoon getting authentication error on all email account with droid 4. Connection error. [NO mechanism not available] Don't get email notifications, email not updating and won't manually. Was working fine oneverything before then.
Two days ago my yahoo email stopped working and keeps saying "yahoo authentication error" I tried turning off and on my phone and deleting my account then set it up again but still no luck. Any suggestions beside factory reset?
About two weeks ago my yahoo mail stopped syncing in the default mail app with an authentication error. I saw that other people were experiencing the same thing and that it might have been because of a server issue. However, my account still won't sync. The Yahoo app is able to get to my email fine, so I know it's not a password problem. I've tried to delete accounts and clear out all data from the mail app, but it still won't work. My corporate sync account works fine in the same app. I tried to add my gmail account to the email app and it had the same problem even though the Gmail app can connect fine.
When go to positioning methods settings in my E72, there are only Bluetooth GPS and Network Based. Is that normal? Shouldn't there be A-GPS and Integrated GPS as well? How do I activate them?
I bought a X6 16 GB. I could not use my GPS. I Called care line and got nothing. I just saw "waiting for GPS..." and i searched in web and found that i must select "internal GPS" in position methods, but in that menu i just have a "Bluetooth GPS".nothing else exists there. please tell me how can i fix this. I used "Reset to factory setting" and also do a HARD Format. Why i can't see "Internal Gps" or "Assist gps".
I can use GPS from my old N82 phone, AND GPS NOT Illegal in my country.it's my 6 Nokia phone and I so disappoinment
On my Nokia N97 mini the positioning methods are not stored.NO positioning method at all is by default stored in my N97 mini.
Therefore i have to select a positioning method first each time before I can use GPS with the new Ovi Maps. This is really annoying. Is this a known bug and is there a solution for this?
I have a question concerning the different positioning methods that are offered by Nokia Belle and which can be selected in settings>application settings>positioning>positioning methods. So far I have only used "Integrated GPS", because I am frequently travelling abroad and would like to avoid using a mobile data connection. However, I still wonder if all the other options actually require a connection to the internet. I know that A-GPS needs a connection, but what about the WLAN/Network option? Does the device really connect to an available WLAN network, or does it only search for Networks without a connection? And what does the last option on the list, "Network-based" mean (I am not sure if this is the proper English translation)? I tried to choose only this method and disabled all the other ones (also integrated GPS), but then the device couldn't find the position.
i have a nokia x6 with maps 3.04 installed. i have been messing with the positioning methods settings, and i forgot what the defaults were. can someone tell me what the default settings were for the positioning methods?
i have reinstalled the maps, but i still get the same settings i have after i messed with them.Do you want to get all the firmware updates for your phone? Get a SIM-free one!

I bought my Droid X in 2010 shortly after they were released. At that time I bought an extended battery direct from Verizon which has been in the phone constantly since then. It lasts several days which is great,Recently though I have plugged it in to the standard charger only to have the phone shut off (GOOGLE!). Then, after turning it on, it reports that the battery is not an approved Motorola battery and can not be charged.I'll reboot it several times only to have it continue to fail to work.
I tried substituting the standard battery for a few minutes which works fine, shutting down, reinstalling the extended battery which THEN works and charges normally without the phone failing to recognize it and shutting off or not charging.
What's going on here? Is the battery defective or is the phone defective? Difficult to tell. Getting close to an upgrade period for me so maybe it doesn't matter but it's definitely annoying.
So I had music on my xoom but accidently deleted it. I tried going in my computer files to copy and paste songs from my itunes into my folder on xoom called music but says wrong format. I don't know what to do.
I bought the device few days ago and on very same day updated to Android ver. 3.2. I use internet over my home Wifi and have a Netgear - WGR614 router. The browsing speed is very very slow and most sites dont open. The signal strength shown in xoom is - (-105 dBm 3 asu).Is this a issue with Android 3.2 update or my home wifi is weak? Would i be able to reset the tab to the original version?
Has anyone had any success with using Wifi that required user certificates? I'm trying to get my Xoom to connect to the corporate network (EAP-TLS) and followed the instructions for the IPad and imported my certificated into Android correctly. But when I connect, it hangs at the connecting state for minutes, before finally giving up.
I would like to buy the XOOM speaker dock and play music from my XOOM on a daily basis.... I'm worried about having it plugged (and charging) in too much and that I might GREATLY reduce the battery life by charging my XOOM too much.
I have a droid bionic. I have recently had problems with ZumoCast app (i.e. not connecting). I uninstalled the app and re-installed it. Now, I'm getting a message that says "Unsupported Device - This device is currently not supported. check for updates at [URL]"
I've got a SkyTex tablet and when I try to install ZumoCast it tells me it's not currently supported on Android, even though it works fine on my Droid Bionic, which is Android. Is there some problem with ZumoCast working on a generic Android device, and is this something that will be fixed?
Is there a guide as to how USB headsets are supported on the Atrix? Motorola sells a couple of micro-USB ones, so they're obviously supported in some fashion, but a 'regular' Logitech USB headset doesn't work for me when connected.
Does the motorola lazr support a second line? I have a SIM card that has two lines on it. When inserted in the Razr only the first line rings through. The second line rings busy. Any ideas or thoughts? I am on Rogers network. It worked fine in my old Samsung A436.Update Feb 25th. Rogers Cellular informs me that the RAZR does not support a second line. If anyone knows, is this a hardware deficiency or is it an Android OS issue? I was told older versions of Samsung Android phones did support the second line feature.
Can anyone recommend an app that will allow me to show .ppt files diretly on the Xoom non-US model? I had an idea it was possible with an app included in US Xooms but not to us outside the USA.
I'm thinking about picking up a used Atrix 2 and before I do, can someone please tell me what version of GB (2.3.x) is the most current for the Atrix 2?
