View 1 Replies View RelatedI received my shiny new 3G Xoom (MZ601) yesterday and decided to root it. I successfully unlocked the bootloader and then flashed the rootboot.img file. Unfortunately on rebooting it hung at the Motorola logo. I tried a couple of other boot images, such as Tiamat 1.3.1 and ocboot but all with the same result. Obviously something is different about the European 3G Xoom which makes these US boot images fail.
I managed to "sort of" recover using one of the stock US boot images (can't remember which one!) but my Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are no longer working. What I would really like to do is revert to a completely stock MZ601 image. I see that the Verizon stock images are available on motodev but no mention of MZ601.
can get nice, clean, relockable Canadian MZ604 images released soon as well.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have been trying out different types of internet browsers: the native version, opera, firefox, dolphin and skyfire.Reason being is because I am investigating the cause of the random reboots my device is facing.I've tried to reduce all settings: No bluetooth, removed syncing, no location information.Now the device is able to do most basic things and not experiencing any reboots. However as soon as I start web surfing it's just a matter of minutes before the whole tablet crashes.What web browser do you think (or know) will provide the most stable experience for the xoom 2?

In certain forums, and on some sites where I am asked to input data, the keyboard appears, but when i type nothing happens. I did some playing and found out that although nothing appears to be entered, the text is in fact entered, just invisible. have password text set to visible in the settings, so that isn't it. And in most applications the text entering works fine.

The only way it shows the correct temp is to reboot the Xoom.. I open weather bug and the temperature is right but isn't what shows in the taskbar nor does it update it in the taskbar.

How can I get Motocast to play the tracks on an album in the correct order?
I have been copying data over to a 32GB SanDisk MicroSDHC (Class 4) card via the Android File Transfer app via USB. I am noticing that the file sizes do not match between the local HDD directory on my mac and the AFT app. Here are two examples: 1> a text document shows as 2.2MB within Finder, but in the AFT it shows as 2.1MB; 2> a Video file shows as 132.6MB in Finder and in AFT it shows as 126.4MB. I have confirmed that I can open the text file and play the video, so I'm not sure why the file sizes are off. I am also seeing AFT not displaying directories which are indeed present on the SDCard. These directories are not empty. I can access them via both ES Explorer and the Terminal app on the device, but when I plug in the device to USB and fire up AFT, the directories/files are not present.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI would like to show two images on the Xoom side by side as a comparison - can't do this using the current image gallery tool (android 3.2.1 - timely updates by the way Moto!).I had the idea for a concept utilising multi-touch - whereby when views images in the grid - if you touch two images at the same time then after a second both images will be held up next to each other.Maybe this line of thinking could be carried to other areas like file management - each touching two file icons allows a file content comparison or whatever. etc.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a Wi-Fi Only Xoom (MZ604) and finally received the invitation to update to v3.1 last night. After downloading and proceeding with the update the tablet powered off and restarted. A progress bar for the update was displayed and didn't even get 1/4 through when a Warning Triangle and the Droid Character appeared on screen. After waiting for two hours, this image was still on screen.
I held volume up and the power button and the Xoom rebooted. When it reached the lock screen it would wait a couple seconds and then power off and attempt the upgrade again. The bar graph would update a little and then the Warning Triangle/Droid image appears on screen again. No matter what I could not stop this cycle, let alone power off the unit.
I will admit that I unlocked the Xoom, but I have never attempted to root it. Having said that, I was sure that my upgrade problem was related to unlocking the Xoom and as my laptop with the SDK, ADB and fastboot was at work so I had to wait until this morning to relock.This morning I connected my Xoom and was able to get the NVFlash/RSD/Fastboot menu. I entered Fastboot mode and from my PC issued fastboot oem lock and proceeded to select yes to the warning. The device started the lock process.Here comes my problem: After a couple minutes the device restarted and showed the following error on the logo screen:

Starting RSD mode 2
I have been fantically looking for a solution to fix this. If I hold down the power and volume up keys the unit will power off briefly but then powers on again (as it did last night) and displays the same SOS error message.If I hold the volume down key (or even the power on and volume down key) when it restarts, I get the following:
Failed image SOS 0x0002 Starting Fastboot protocol support.Which you would think is great, but if I type fastboot devices on my PC, no device is shown and fastboot oem unlock just displays "Waiting for device" on screen without ever communicating with the tablet. I have tried every key combination I could find on the web and have tried rebooting my PC and I cannot get the Xoom to communicate, power off or do anything than display the previously mentioned errors.
when can we expect to receive the stock image for euro 3g xoom?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI know there is a lot of anger over on the UK forum about why Motorola can't provide even a date for upgrading to 3.1, so I thought I'd share my experience of working round the issue on a UK WiFi only Xoom. What I did was download the stock 3.0 US firmware from the motorola developers site, unlocked my xoom, and installed it. Instructions are provided on the site along with the firmware here; url...When you install, it will wipe your device. You will loose all data. Back it up before you do anything.After install, you will have a vanilla 3.0 US Xoom. The difference being a couple of extra games, but no UK dictionary. This isn't the 3.1 that you are waiting for though. You need to then go to system updates and the tablet will then tell you that there is a new version of the firmware. Let it download and install that, you you will have a 3.1 device.Other than the missing UK dictionary, the only other problem is the iPlayer web site. After a month and a half, the BBC had finally updated the iPlayer web site to recognize Honeycomb as a valid mobile device, but with Honeycomb 3.1 it is back to saying that this mobile device can't use iPlayer. Muppets. You can work round that by putting the browser in to debug mode and setting it to be a desktop device.
Unlocking also voids your warranty, although my personal belief is that a hardware defect would still be covered under UK consumer law if you can show that unlocking and installing Motorola firmware is a reasonable thing to expect to do - in the same way that a washing machine manufacturer can't say that your waranty is void if you use washing powder in your machine. I'm not a lawyer though, so make up your own mind on that one.
I turn on my tablet and the screen freezes saying something about starting troubleshooting or something error. I can not shut off or do anything. it gets real hot and i have to wait till the battery goes dead in order for it to shut off. I bought from Staples and i was 1 day past the 14 day return policy and they refused to help. I only had it 2 weeks and this is the 3rd time it happened

I am using 32GB microSD card. If I connect my Xoom to my PC and transfer files, as soon as I reach 4GB utilized storage on the SD card, all files gets disappeared, and moved into the LOST.DIR (renamed).If I unmount the card, put it into my PC, and copy files to it, as soon as I mount this SD in my Xoom all files that were copied to the SD after it reached 4GB in utilized storage, they just get deleted (nothing in the LOST.DIR). Even if I will mark these files as Read-Only they still get deleted.

View 4 Replies View Relatedi have a xoom 32gb wifi only device that i purchased from woot.com and i received the update notice to 3.1. i have downloaded and attempted to install several times now, each attempt has failed.
see attached image for error I have tried a Factory Reset (Settings -> Privacy -> Factory Data Reset), as well as factory reset at boot. No success.
I also tried the "wipe cache" command at boot and this did not result in a successful installation either. The only other choice at boot that makes sense is to "install update from usb", and when selected it goes to sdcard.
At this point I am seriously considering rooting, unlocking and then updating?
I have just got myself an XOOM 3G, from Saturn electronics here in Germany. This is an device witout contract, and I am using it with my O2 data contract for 3G connectivity.
I was expecting that I would be able to change the OS language from the Standarad German to English... Huummph it seems not to be the case.
It looks like from my investigations that I will need to reinstall the Android OS, because The only language in German android in German SO my question is where do I find the download of the version of Android that has English as a selectable language? BTW the device's current OS level is H.6.3-25-9

I brought it home and it was charging again at home too. I thought it must have been some fluke. Only now it is doing it again. I have tried dozens of outlets, and they work for any other device but not for the Xoom. It won't charge.
