**** complete edit by fletch33. just too much to edit out to save this post. please see our house rules in regards to dicussion and links to information that alters the system or requires root.there are plenty of forums to discuss this however the Motorola corporate forum is not one of them.
I've an m8 from Verizon unlocked and I need to change my son because I'm using it on t mobile and I've found that I can't change my apn settings in order to have a better internet access I'm uploading a pic of how the setting looks like , and also I've found that there is no option called apn protocol which is the one I am more interested about ....
i have a xoom 32gb wifi only device that i purchased from woot.com and i received the update notice to 3.1. i have downloaded and attempted to install several times now, each attempt has failed.
see attached image for error I have tried a Factory Reset (Settings -> Privacy -> Factory Data Reset), as well as factory reset at boot. No success.
I also tried the "wipe cache" command at boot and this did not result in a successful installation either. The only other choice at boot that makes sense is to "install update from usb", and when selected it goes to sdcard.
At this point I am seriously considering rooting, unlocking and then updating?
I didn it once. I deleted most of the default bookmarks, but now that I have too many and want to delete more bookmarks I can't, for the life of me, figure out how to get back to that edit screen.
It's driving me bonkers.
I don't have my bookmarks synced with Chrome. I'm just trying to delete some dupes that I have in the list. It must be so simple that no one else has had this problem because I can't find anything on the web or even this forum.
Just holding down on the widget just pops up arrows to resize. I can't find anything in the settings of the browser to do it. But I did it before and have no idea what i did.
Not sure if my Xoom is a "family edition" but its model is MZ601.Anyway, I am trying to replicate the functionality of Google Maps' My Places from my PC to my tablet.I can see my saved pushpins but can't make it so the left panel opens up, allowing me to see notes as well as pins. I also cannot edit anything in my saved Map.So far I have tried this in the default browser as well as with the default Google Maps app that came already installed.
I was wondering whether anyone has tried to use skydrive on Xoom, I have tried the stock browser and Dolphin HD, am not able to edit MS word documents, the keyboard doesn't toggle.
So I had music on my xoom but accidently deleted it. I tried going in my computer files to copy and paste songs from my itunes into my folder on xoom called music but says wrong format. I don't know what to do.
I know there is a lot of anger over on the UK forum about why Motorola can't provide even a date for upgrading to 3.1, so I thought I'd share my experience of working round the issue on a UK WiFi only Xoom. What I did was download the stock 3.0 US firmware from the motorola developers site, unlocked my xoom, and installed it. Instructions are provided on the site along with the firmware here; url...When you install, it will wipe your device. You will loose all data. Back it up before you do anything. After install, you will have a vanilla 3.0 US Xoom. The difference being a couple of extra games, but no UK dictionary. This isn't the 3.1 that you are waiting for though. You need to then go to system updates and the tablet will then tell you that there is a new version of the firmware. Let it download and install that, you you will have a 3.1 device.Other than the missing UK dictionary, the only other problem is the iPlayer web site. After a month and a half, the BBC had finally updated the iPlayer web site to recognize Honeycomb as a valid mobile device, but with Honeycomb 3.1 it is back to saying that this mobile device can't use iPlayer. Muppets. You can work round that by putting the browser in to debug mode and setting it to be a desktop device.
Unlocking also voids your warranty, although my personal belief is that a hardware defect would still be covered under UK consumer law if you can show that unlocking and installing Motorola firmware is a reasonable thing to expect to do - in the same way that a washing machine manufacturer can't say that your waranty is void if you use washing powder in your machine. I'm not a lawyer though, so make up your own mind on that one.
I turn on my tablet and the screen freezes saying something about starting troubleshooting or something error. I can not shut off or do anything. it gets real hot and i have to wait till the battery goes dead in order for it to shut off. I bought from Staples and i was 1 day past the 14 day return policy and they refused to help. I only had it 2 weeks and this is the 3rd time it happened
Well I wanted to start a poll, but the forums wouldn't allow it.Anyways lets send Motorola a message why us "The consumer" would like the bootloader unlocked.
I am using 32GB microSD card. If I connect my Xoom to my PC and transfer files, as soon as I reach 4GB utilized storage on the SD card, all files gets disappeared, and moved into the LOST.DIR (renamed). If I unmount the card, put it into my PC, and copy files to it, as soon as I mount this SD in my Xoom all files that were copied to the SD after it reached 4GB in utilized storage, they just get deleted (nothing in the LOST.DIR). Even if I will mark these files as Read-Only they still get deleted.
I have just got myself an XOOM 3G, from Saturn electronics here in Germany. This is an device witout contract, and I am using it with my O2 data contract for 3G connectivity.
I was expecting that I would be able to change the OS language from the Standarad German to English... Huummph it seems not to be the case.
It looks like from my investigations that I will need to reinstall the Android OS, because The only language in German android in German SO my question is where do I find the download of the version of Android that has English as a selectable language? BTW the device's current OS level is H.6.3-25-9
I have a European Motorola Xoom 3G/WIFI and i have unlocked it. Currently i have the Team Tiamat Xoom Rom 2.1 Hammerhead on it.I want to get the original software on it again.
just buy a Xoom Wifi French model (MZ604).Is it planned to put online images for recovering Xoom to stock using fastboot ?Actually, there's only these images for US Models (Wifi and Wifi/3G). But no images for Wifi only EU models.
A couple weeks ago the Xoom stopped charging. I took it to work to look at it and then it just started charging at work. I brought it home and it was charging again at home too. I thought it must have been some fluke. Only now it is doing it again. I have tried dozens of outlets, and they work for any other device but not for the Xoom. It won't charge.
Why has Motorola stopped uploading the IMG files to the Moto Dev site, the latest update is 3.1? I know Moto for some reason decides to always wait until the files are technically obsolete when they upload them, and 3.0.1 was a "minor" update, but its a pain having to flash back to 3.1 just to start totally fresh.
As the stock wifi image for the US is now available when will the UK version be released please?I understand the us stock could be used to re-lock the UK version but what would be different?
Hi, help me to determinate what type of images Xoom i must download to my device? I I asked Motorola support but they do not know. I know tha i have MZ601 device. But what i must use to reflash from this page: [URL]
I have XOOM MZ601 3G(maybe HongKong vversion I bought in Taiwan). Now I need Software Image of XOOM MZ601 3G(H6.1-17_CN-40) but I cannot find.I tried to add some language to XOOM but I mistook, after that my XOOM never boot any more.So I want factory reset following this method [URL] and want to get image files. But I cannot find the same with Software image of my XOOM in this site.how to get Software Image of XOOM MZ601 3G(H6.1-17_CN-40).
I received my shiny new 3G Xoom (MZ601) yesterday and decided to root it. I successfully unlocked the bootloader and then flashed the rootboot.img file. Unfortunately on rebooting it hung at the Motorola logo. I tried a couple of other boot images, such as Tiamat 1.3.1 and ocboot but all with the same result. Obviously something is different about the European 3G Xoom which makes these US boot images fail.
I managed to "sort of" recover using one of the stock US boot images (can't remember which one!) but my Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are no longer working. What I would really like to do is revert to a completely stock MZ601 image. I see that the Verizon stock images are available on motodev but no mention of MZ601.
Using iOS 5.1.1 on iPhone 3GS. I was browsing through my pictures in the photo album and noticed the edit feature, I wasn't sure what the buttons at the bottom were for so I clicked the red circle and realized it is the red eye edit tool. But it took me to a full screen of the picture and tells me to click on the red eyes and to click twice to undo, but after lots of clicking I can't seem to get the screen to go back to my normal photo album. How do I close this feature? I can access my camera roll through the camera but not through the photo album. Even after hitting my home key and trying to get back in it still takes me to the picture that is in edit mode.
My WiFi Xoom cannot boot due to Error "failed to boot lnx 0x0004". I use the following command to update MZ604 image, after reboot, there is red line "failed to boot lnx 0x0004". PC cannot find the device when I use fastboot command after boot in "Starting Fastboot protocolsupport".
I purchased my Xoom a month ago and haven't had any problems except when i turn it off it ma or may not start again so i leave it on all the time. I hold the on button and volume high button on for three to five seconds . sometimes this works and som times it don't. If i hold the two buttons for longer a message appears about start protocolect. I have no idea what this means.
