When I uprgraded my Xoom wi-fi to ICS, Amazon Prime videos became totally unviewable. I almost gave up ever being able to use the Xoom for viewing streaming videos again. Then I read, on this forum, that Adobe had upgraded Flash and that now the videos should be okay. I have since watched bout 4 or 5 videos and they were very smooth without a single hiccup or sign of dropped frames. However, I tried to watch "Explorers" and it is totally unviewable with jerky sound and blocky video. I tried restarting it several times with no change. Then I picked a different video, also on Amazon Prime, and it worked fine.
What a crummy weekend for the Music apps to start crashing - Memorial Day weekend when I'm driving so much. Google Music keeps crashing as soon as I start navigation in Google Maps. I tried Amazon Prime Music too - same issue. So, I'm thinking it's the recently-updated Maps app that isn't multitasking well.
It seems that Steve Jobs just might be sobbing tonight as the Amazon AppStore slips from his totalitarian grasp. In one of his many recent litigation attempts to stab Android with a wooden stake, it seems he came up empty handed.Today, Apple's preliminary injunction filed against Amazon for naming the Android AppStore was denied in court. I guess Mr.Jobs doesn't own everything he thinks about or writes on a napkin. Here is the press release today:"The court finds that Apple has not established a likelihood of success on its dilution claim. First, Apple has not established that its "App Store" mark is famous, in the sense of being "prominent" and "renowned." The evidence does show that Apple has spent a great deal of money on advertising and publicity, and has sold/provided/furnished a large number of apps from its AppStore, and the evidence also reflects actual recognition of the "App Store" mark. However, there is also evidence that the term "app store" is used by other companies as a descriptive term for a place to obtain software applications for mobile devices."
i have a wifi only xoom running android 4.0.3. yesterday i got the ics update and my ability to watch video from amazon on my xoom in my browser went bad. prior to the update it worked on and off but when it had problems they were never like this, and when it had problems they showed up on all computers i own that tried to use the service. the problem on the xoom tablet continues today. the video is pixelated and very choppy. the audio is very crackly and popping. this is not the way it worked prior to the upgrade.
i can watch the same video on my desktop chrome browser and it works fine. i can watch it on firefox browser and it works. on the xoom i can use the andriod marketplace to buy a video and watch it and it works fine. i can use the xoom browser to view ted and Internet videos and they work fine. is it the browser, the ics update, or is the amazon delivery system antagonistic to ics? also i noticed a very sharp drop in audio volume output of all kinds once the isc upgrade had been done. i simply can not turn up the volume loud enough to hear it easily.
Has anyone had any success with using Wifi that required user certificates? I'm trying to get my Xoom to connect to the corporate network (EAP-TLS) and followed the instructions for the IPad and imported my certificated into Android correctly. But when I connect, it hangs at the connecting state for minutes, before finally giving up.
i went on to the android market to rent a movie using the new google movies application, but there does not seem to be a videos app! i can watch using Internet, but want to be able to download to i can watch it on the plane, etc. where there is no internet connection. according to this:
[code]....
the app should have been pushed out today for all verizon 3g xoom customers, but i can't find the damned app. does anyone know where it is?
I just got a Xoom wifi with 4.1.1 as a gift. I have a droid 4 and many mp4 videos that play on it with no problem. My Xoom will not even allow me to transfer the video to it saying the format is not supported. Why can I play these on droid 4 and not on Xoom. Is there a problem with the software in the Xoom?
i have a xoom wifi and i am aunable to view flash videos, for instance, embedded videos at the bbc website. they just hang while trying to load. i have android 3.2 and flash 11 installed. i have been to the flash website and run a test which shows that flash is installed and working ok.
i tryed playin a video i filmed before 3.1 update and now it wont play....i also tryed taking a picture and i cant see the preview on the screen....but when i press the shooter it takes the picture...but the screen is black completly.
I like to download instructional videos (how-tos) and then burn them to CD or DVD for future use. I bought a Xoom so I could download at a faster speed (4G) but now can't figure how to save them and transfer them to my PC for burning. I have tethered Xoom to PC but can't seem to find any files saved that look like the video I watched on Xoom .
Just received a 32GB PNY Class 10 card and installed it in my 3G Xoom. Everything appears to be working, create directories, copied videos to the Video directory, etc. The same videos I moved to the SD card all played just fine from the default directory.Video app sees the videos, but when I attempt to open a video the screen dims and nothing happens. I've stopped the Video app, cleared the cache, and unmounted and remounted the SD Card.
ive triedflipping the screen when opening attachments in gmail with no luck. the same email sent to my yahoo opened and i could view....im also having problems viewing videos in facebook and on you tube..what can i do?
Got the 3.1 update on my wifi xoom this morning. Looks like im missing the movies tab in the market and im also missing the videos app. i tried clearing the data for the market but it made no difference.
i just recently got the xoom, it convinced me enough on reviews and looks but now i'm frustrated beyond belief. one of the main reasons i wanted a tablet was to use it to view videos online without having to download them and transfer them over.but that's all gone down hill since i brought home the xoom. i love it, my family loves it but it keeps dropping the connection only when i view videos. be it Internet or anything else, my connection will be dropped at about a minute but before reaching two minutes. basically all i have ever gotten to view is two minutes into videos before i get cut off. i can be standing right next to my router with perfect connection on everything but as soon as a video begins to play the connection gets dropped and i'm stuck with a brick in my hand.
i've tested it out with other devices such as my phone, and my 2 laptops, even the family wii and videos play like a charm. the xoom however likes to give me a small preview and then cut me off. i've looked into the problem all over the internet and haven't found any solution. before i get the whole it's your router spiel it's only happening when i try streaming a video. i've updated all i could think off to the latest versions but to no avail. i even focused on looking at the wifi indicator to see that it will have strong signal and be working perfectly but at around a minute and a half it shoots down the connection and shoots back up. this isn't a problem if i'm just browsing the web but the videos don't seem to resume loading after it gets the connection back.
I can listen to music and watch videos on my Xoom2 via Wi-Fi from my computer but when I try the same music or videos from a USB Flash Drive, I can see all the files but when I try to play any of them the Xoom2 goes to "Settings".
I was wondering if anyone is aware how to play Demand 5 videos(http://www.channel5.com/demand5) in full screen mode. The video is in Flash and plays fine in normal mode. Yet, when I attempt to tap on 'full screen' button, I am taken to the advertiser's page and video stops working. The particular video I was trying to play is of latest 'Fifth Gear'This is not only problem with XOOM, I noticed it on Sony tablet too as well as on PlayBook.
I use a Bluetooth headset (Best Buy brand) when watching videos on my Xoom WiFi. However, the sound is nearly a second behind the video. I have the same problem when using the bluetooth headphones with my HP notebook. I understand that Bluetooth requires a lot more processing than hard-wired headphones. However, a fast processor such as the one in the Xoom should have negligible processing delay. I suppose the headphones could contribute most of the delay, but I still find it hard to accept that delay should be so long. I use digital hearing aids that have a 32 channel digital filter. The hearing instruments have to first do an A to D conversion, then process the audio and convert it back to Analog before sending the signal to the output transducer. Yet the delay through the hearing aids is negligible. Why is the delay so long through bluetooth or are the Best Buy headphones just crap? I really like using wireless headphones. Wired headphones are always getting tangled or I forget about the wires and walk away from my notebook and either yank the headphones off my head or come very close to dragging the notebook onto the floor.
I recently purchased the xoom 32 wifi and got it up and running. It is using the 3.2 system and immediately when I turned it on I noticed that the boot up screen (blue honeycomb screen) was very blurry. Once it booted up I went on the browser and noticed that some of the ad boxes on the browser, dolphin and default were fuzzy and grainy. I also noticed that videos that opened and played from web pages were a little blurry. This is not the case with my friends aseus. We did a side by side. Is this normal for the xoom? Especially the blurry boot up screen?
This maybe and mote point but i get a notification that it will not install this due to security issues even though i used the link that amazon sent as text to link it to my amazon account?
I recently purchased a Motorola Xoom and i've been trying a couple of different apps for Twitter on my Xoom the regular Twitter app doesn't seem to work for me on my Xoom and the Tweetdeck App doesn't move or turn on all screens when i move my Xoom.
i tried connecting my fe to my tv tonight to watch netflix. it doesnt work for me. the video freezes up and i only hear the sound. all other aspects of hdmi out works. i can watch my movies i copied to the device or taped using the onboard video camera on my tv, Internet, etc. i was just curious if my netflix problem is a known issue or limitation?
I noticed that I was no longer seeing any updates for apps downloaded from the Amazon app store. To be clear, this is not the Android Market but the Amazon Appstore for Android. After the upgrade, I did have to login to the Amazon Appstore, but could use and download apps fine.I saw some posts in various places regarding people having trouble running apps they had download from the Amazon Appstore. They were told to delete and re-download the Appstore and login again. That didn't seem to have any effect for me.
I noticed that under my account in the Appstore, I had 3 devices registered with names close to 'Motorola Droid X'. I deregistered all of them and signed in again, from the phone, just to clean up all of those devices.Still no updates present when looking at the Update Available option from the Appstore. The last thing I did was go to the Amazon Appstore on the phone, select menu and My Apps, then press the Refresh Icon towards the top of the display. Then select the Update Available option (as I'd done many times previously) and the apps that I was expecting to have updates, all showed up.
I copied over videos from amazon instant to my droid x and it says needs need lisences. How do I go about fixing this so I can watch my videos. It only happenx for some of the movies I tranfered.
When I get emails that have links attached to them and select the link, the tablet just darkens (like when you highlight something) and it won't open the browser to go to the page.
