Dec 30, 2015A feature that I used to love on my Lumia 920 on Win8.1 was that I could just tap the screen in the camera app on the spot that I wanted the focus to be on and the camera would focus and automatically proceed to take the photo. On the new Lumia 950 camera, I now need to focus and then separately press either the physical camera button or the soft camera button on screen. Any way to snap the photo in a single step by tapping the screen like I could do with the Windows 8.1 camera?

Oct 25, 2014For some reason today when i opened up my camera to take a few shots it had problem auto focusing on items close to me, as you know when you tap the screen to focus on a point in the screen you get the circle and a small beep to let you know it's focusing ok, it seemed to have problems getting to this point and there was an audible high pitched buzzing or clicking sound coming from the lens itself and the screen image would not come into focus
the phone has not been dropped or roughly handled so i am 100% sure it's not an issue caused by being knocked, i have tried a reset and a reboot but the issue still remains, also i have done no recent updates and there are none showing so that's not the issue either
IPhone 5 :: Rear Camera Continually Moves From Focus To Out-of-focus
Aug 26, 2014When trying to FaceTime with my iPhone 5, the rear camera continually moves from focus to out-of-focus. I'm FaceTiming with absolutely mad because the picture moves from blurry to clear almost constantly.
I had to replace my first iPhone 5 after only 15 months because the rear camera couldn't auto-focus anymore (a well-documented problem), and I had to pay for a replacement phone. Now after only 5 months with the replacement iPhone 5 I received from Apple it seems like I'm having more issues with the rear camera.
Motorola Droid X :: Camera Will Not Focus
Jan 3, 2012Back in August 2011, shortly after an OTA Update, I noticed the focus function was no longer working.Sometime around October, I finally was fed up enough that I tried to do something about the problem. Unfortunately, my warranty had expired in Sept. Verizon Tech Support suggested a factory reset, so I did this.With no apps installed, I first tested the camera, and the focus still did not work. I reloaded all my apps and set up the phone, and, of course, this made no difference. At this point, I gave up and assumed this functionality had failed.
In November, I realized that the focus feature had begun working again. The only thing I'm aware of having happened is that the phone fell off of a coffee table onto the floor the day before. The phone was in a case and the table was about 18" high. I am sure that I did not load or unload any apps during that time. I may have recieved an update to an app, but since the focus did not work after factory reset, I doubt this to be a factor.The focus feature has been working up until today! I used the focus on NYE and all was well. No changes from then to when I discovered focus to be dead again.Here's a list of what I've done after the 2nd failure of focus:Shut down/battery pull Uninstall Shop Savy (uses camera), shut down/battery pull Install Vignette Demo to see if that app could access the focus. Nope.Uninstall Vignette Demo, shut down/battery pull Clear Data for Camera App under App Management, shut down/battery pull Force Close, then clear data for Camera app, shut down/battery pull.Lighting, ambient temperature, with/without case, inside, outside, upside down (j/k) doesn't seem to help.Can one of the Motorola guys (or anyone who knows for sure) tell me how the focus works? Is it a mechancial thing or is it all digitial? My theory is that either something mechanical is stuck or some sort of electrical connection has lost continuity.

Nov 13, 2011I purchased my Photon at the end of September, and for the most part it has been the greatest phone I have ever used. That is, until my camera stopped working correctly! I launch the camera app, and the screen switches to landscape and the camera initializes, but it will not focus!! I have to tap the screen very hard and rapidly for it to force focus, and any situation other than bright daylight will not focus at all. The phone does not even make that little clicking noise that I think it made when going into camera mode, which I believe meant that the shutter is activating (right??).
This happened once before to me, and I took the phone to a Sprint store. The rep simply toggled the image resolution from 3mp to 5mp and back, and it worked. I then left the store feeling like a dope.....until the next week when it started happening again. Now, I've tried everything to get the camera to work again, but nothing.
Motorola Atrix 2 :: Camera Won't Focus And Video Is Jerky
Nov 7, 2011I called moto this morning and told them the phone is awesome, but the camera can't focus on anything, and the video is jerky. The customer service guy told me he is sending the problem up the latter and is confident that it will be addressed with the next firmware update. He said there were a few people having the same problem. I'm not ready to get rid of this phone, but the camera/video camera are not on the same level with other 8mp/1080 p recording devices.

Apr 24, 2011The camera on my Droid 2 doesn't autofocus anymore. For the first couple months, I was taking crystal clear pictures without any problems, then one day the camera refused to autofocus and now all my pictures turn out blurry. I can say without a doubt that the lens does not need cleaning because if I take an extreme closeup (just a few inches from the subject) the pictures are clear. Any further than a few inches, the pics come out blurry. Holding the shutter button down a little only causes a red box to come up, not green. Using the touch screen shutter button doesn't make a difference. I tried factory resetting my phone and this didn't solve the issue.

Then I open the barcode scanner again, wait for the auto-focus stuff, press Back and "click" again.
Now I open the camera app, wait for auto-focus completes, press Back and "click". This happens every time auto-focus finishs and I quit the app.

Oct 2, 2012I bought my wife the Razr M from AmazonWireless and she loves the upgrade from her Droid X, but we're having problems with barcode scanners.
When taking pictures using the built in camera app, autofocus works fine. However, when scanning a barcode using any app that supports barcode scanning, the camera never autofocuses and since the barcode is out of focus, it can't be scanned. We've tried it using ZXing Barcode Scanner, the Munzee app, and the walgreens pharmacy app.
I haven't been able to find any reports of others having a similar issue which makes me think it might be a hardware issue.

Sep 17, 2014Is it possible to use the depth data saved by the dual camera outside the phone? For example in Photoshop, or in a compositing app like Nuke?
I find the one in the phone hard to use as it overwrites on the original image, etc. Also I could control the blur and apply different effects based on the depth data saved.
I checked the images outside the phone but they are jpg and couldn't find an extra channel or layer in them.

Feb 29, 2012I have OCS pushed to my device (WiFi only) in late January. It's been working well.But today I noticed when trying to do Skype that the front camera no longer works. I deleted Skype and a number of other apps thinking they might be the problem but no change.If I start the camera app it just presents a blank screen and then Stops. I deleted all the application data for the camera and the cache and restarted it. Now the camera works and shows an image from the rear camera. But as soon as I try to switch to the front camera, the app hangs as above and won't start again until I Force Stop it and delete the application data.

I took a few pictures and then hit the power button to shut off the screen, When I later hit the power buttom to wake my wifi xoom, the xoom awoke back into the camera app, however, the screen for the picture was black. Aug 27, 2012I am trying to understand how I can do an indoor activity without getting speed and distance data in the results.I have used the Motoactv primarily for outdoor training for hiking, walking, mountain biking, and inline skating. Additionally, I am using for various indoor activities including plyometrics, weightlifting, indoor cycling, and indoor inline speed skating.I have been able to understand the use of GPS for speed and distance calculations (albeit with a number of accuracy impacting calculation concerns as noted in other posts in this forum). What I do not understand is the speed and distance calculations for the indoor activities. Nor do I have any idea on how the accelerometer (or pedometer) capabilities are used in speed and distance in conjunction with GPS for outdoor activities.
Specifically, for indoor activities other than those which are directly correlated to running, walking, cycling, or an elliptical, how are the speed and distance calculated? For example, when I did an hour of weightlifting using that category, the workout results showed that I had travelled over a mile with various speeds. It seems sensible to me that only a few of the indoor workout categories make sense for speed and distance data. I would not expect yoga or weights to track distance. Additionally, in a pretty intense indoor speed skating practice yesterday, I used the Motoactv for the first time to track my HR data. It produced some speed & distance data for the times in which I was skating, but the accuracy was in no way close. I expected no speed & distance data & I would not expect accurate data for inline speed skating (although that would be awesome). how the various indoor activities use the pedometer for speed calculation? Failing that, does anyone know how to stop an indoor activity from tracking speed & distance? Or finally, do any of the indoor activities NOT generate speed & distance?
The Motoactv device has a lot of functionality over & above competitive GPS watches in it being able to intelligently use the GPS or the pedometer for distance calculation for the specific activity. Hopefully, it also has the software logic to NOT calculate speed & distance for certain activities. Recent Garmin devices allowed you to "Use Indoor" if it could not find a GPS signal which turned off all speed/distance calcs. To prevent inaccurate non-sensical data on the Moto, we need to be able to specify activities without speed/distance or be able to turn off GPS & pedometer for specific activities.

Motorola Xoom :: 3.2 Update And SD Card Usage With Camera App?

I have 3.2 installed and can confirm that there is native SD card usage however I can not figure out how to take pictures and have them save directly to the SD card. They still get saved in internal memory. How do we change that I don't see a setting anywhere unless I am blind.
