Motorola Xoom :: Get Rid Of Some Of "recent Apps"?
Dec 7, 2011
Is there a way to get rid of some of the "recent apps" that are in the rolling line-up without turning the Xoom off? There get to be too many of them andd most are only needed once. I am new to the Xoom and the forum so sorry if this has been addressed before.
Does anyone know of a way to get a list of recent notifications? There has been a few times when I will get rid of a notification, and then want to see what it said. I haven't been able to find an app to do this. I know, don't dismiss them, but some apps dismiss the notification automatically when you look at it.
Ever since LP lag/stutter/hitch when swiping away apps in the recents menu. I've restarted and cleared cache but nothing has worked. I do not want to do a Factory Reset unless it's my last option.
After upgrading to Gingerbread I noticed that when I go to the recent apps screen and I try to open Tweetdeck (seems to be the only app that does this) I get a "Application is not installed on phone" error message. Which makes no sense because it's running in the background and opens fine. I've cleared my cache and uninstalled and reinstalled TD and still get the error. Assuming this is a bug, but it seems weird to only happen for a specific app.
Dropbox (which I have already moved to the SD Card), Pocket Legends (can't find this App to move. Where are most Apps located (especially the Amazon Fre Apps).
After installing the bookmarks app, I logged in with my Google account email address and password. Then, I saw a prompt to "Sync" and I clicked on it.After that, I expected to be able to access my bookmarks, but each search comes up with a blank page. What have I missed?
Is there a way to rate apps on the Xoom FE through the Market? I've looked and looked and I can't seem to find any "Rate & Review" section. I'm aware that I can rate apps through my Droid X and on my PC, but it seems odd that this functionality is missing from my tablet. Maybe I'm overlooking something obvious?
About 3 days ago my applications on my xoom stopped updating. I have 15 apps right now that say they have updates available. I click update, the app shows to be downloading, finishes and then shows 'update unsuccesfull.' New applications will not download either. I have rebooted several times. i have stopped every application that i felt could be affecting this.
Recently, I have tried to install newly updated/created apps on my ICS XOOM WiFi from Tivo and from AMC Theaters. Both apps tell me the same thing when I go into google play, and also when I use a direct download QR Barcode. I get a message saying that my device isn't compatible with this version of the software. Could this possibly be becuase the apps are not tolerant of ICS yet? I figured that since the apps were newly released/updated, that they would be compatible with the latest.
Is the Xoom f.e. capable of moving apps to an sd card? I've tried several such apps, but none seem to work. Is this a hardware issue / limitation of the f.e or can someone recommend an app2sd card app for the f.e..?
I am trying to update my device after the 4G upgrade. When I first got it, i did not do a factory reset and it downloaded some apps but not all.I then did a factory reset and it shows all the apps to download, but it is not downloading. The apps are just stuck on "downloading."I left it on over night and no movement. I tried both WIFI, 3G, and 4G.I tried 2 more factory resets and nothing.I tried going to the market web page and click install on device.
My son is in the Army stationed overseas. We've skyped on my laptop but I really have my Xoom with me far more often. Is it possible to set skype to always run so he can find me whenever he's on?
I have the Google Music beta on PC and the Xoom music player is syncing nicely to it.However, when playing, it will skip and sometimes stop playing altogether. I have 3.1 update, and 9.5 gb free on internal storage. It happens with on device MP3's as well. Not a wi-fi issue as it happens with wi-fi off. Any thoughts fellow Xoomers? I did search the forums already, and saw some mention of Andro Explorer causing this
Just want to know if anyone else is having this problem or is just on my Xoom. I can access Market but when I try to access My Apps I regularly get a FC. What it says is (process.com.android.vending) has stopped unexpectedly.
I have tried the Vol-Up-On start and cleared the Market cache with the same result. Would uninstalling an reinstalling Market be the next step.
Searching through the thread I have found many questions about office apps but almost none devoted to drawing, painting, diagramming (visio), and/or other graphics creation (other than camera pic aps). That being said, one know of any good ones for the Xoom?
Recently my Xoom has begun to take at least ten seconds to switch to another app when I select it from the recent apps menu. This happens maybe 10% of the time.
xoom: i have been unable to download apps from the market at all. they continue to download endlessly and never actually install. especially flash player.
I've never been more excited to get something in the post, and when my Xoom arrived today I was ECSTATIC!However, my initial joy has turned to pure frustration, as NOTHING on the market is working correctly!
1] I can't install ANY apps from the market place, free or paid (they download SOMETIMES, then just hang with thart green status bar that slides to the left)
2] I can't update ANYTHING (not even Google Maps!!!)
3] I can't install/update ANYTHING from the web version of the Market place
I am in London, UK using a password protected Work Wifi network
Unable to install or update apps. While attempting to update, received the following msg: "Update for xxxxxx could not be downloaded due to error(921)". Xoom WiFi only, Android ver. 4.0.4, Build # IMM76 Android phone is able to install and update apps on my home WiFi network.
i bought a xoom (wifi) while in the us a few weeks ago. after arriving back to vietnam and setting-up my google and android market accounts a number of apps that i tried to download advised me that they are not available for download in "my country". how can i get these apps (e.g., amazon kindle; riptide, etc.) loaded in to my xoom wifi?also ... the android market doesn't even show "books" or "movies" within my android market, nor can i access google books for purchasing! do i have to change my location on my android market account to the us ... can i even do this after its been set-up?i did some further trouble-shooting including the following:
i have contacted various app developers .... all of which have confirmed to me that they allow and support free & paid app downloads in vietnam.i have had multiple friends in the us attempt to access and download numerous android apps to my android market account from their us-based web servers, but they receive the same comment i.e., "this item cannot be installed in your device's country", even though they are on a us server.
it is therefore clear that the problem is with my google/android market/xoom set-up, so can anyone assist me to confirm whether i can either:delete my android market account from my google account and "re-start", setting my location as the united states. (while retaining all my gmail; Internet; etc. account settings and files.) fix my current google/android market account settings to indicate i am in the united states so that i can download apps?
I have not been able to update my apps for 5 days now because I keep getting a force close. I have cleared every cache and history, restarted and rebooted 3 times and I still can't get my apps to update
i have the timeout for my screen set for two minutes. this is normally good as my major use is checking e-mail or surfing the web. if i am watching a Internet video longer than 2 minutes or using navigation the xoom shuts off and i have to press the power button and then play (if i was watching a video) to continue for another two minutes until it shuts off again. here's my question.. am i missing something in settings or do i just have to adjust the screen timeout time every time i want to use an app that doesn't require me touching the screen for 2 minutes?
I have a WiFi only Xoom, purchased and being used in the UK.I am unable to purchase and install Paid Apps at all, which is something I expected as an advertised feature. The symptoms I am experiencing include:No "Best Selling Apps" displayed in the Market App.Unable to find any Paid Apps at all through searching.o "Books" tab displayed.Attempting to buy via the web version of the Market I see the message "This item cannot be installed on your device."Most Free Apps install ok.A few common Apps that I can find via search (e.g. Flash, Blogger) claim they cannot be installed "in your devices Country".I cannot find the Kindle App at all even though Amazon have confirmed it is Free and available in the UK.
If I use a VPN to connect through our USA office, I see slightly different results:I can see "Best Selling Apps" and "Books". can search for Paid Apps.If I attempt to purchase a Paid App I receive the message "The item you were attempting to purchase could not be found."I am able to search for and install Flash and Kindle without a problem, although Blogger still complains about devices CountryI have attempted a number of recommended fixes, including:Clearing the Market cache and data;Reboot;Factory Reset. do not want to root my device at this point and so would rather avoid the use of such workarounds as Market Enabler. This is very disappointing and I'm not exactly happy about this situation, even though the rest of the tablet seems to be an excellent device.
I downloaded three different file shareing apps on my Xoom and I can't get any of them to work. Then I downloaded a ping app and I noticed that I can't ping any devices on my network even tough I'm conected to the internet just fine. I've looked at all the blogs and can't figure this one out.
For some reason good for engerprise and tapatalk have an update butnwhen i select it downloads goes to install then failssaying appname failed to install..
