Motorola Razr :: Abnormal Battery Usage Distribution
Feb 29, 2012
In any other Android phone that I've seen the Android OS drains at most 10% of the battery, being the Display the most power hungry component. So I guess that something is really wrong here.
Today she showed me that her lock screen was lagging every time she swapped to unlock it. This is kind of annoying especially for a dual core phone. We did find out that a quick reboot fixes the lagging for a while. Is there a fix for this besides rebooting the phone?ssue #2While looking at the battery usage on the Razr, I noticed that Android OS is using the majority of the battery this seems incorrect. I have checked my original droid and other android phones, yet I have never seem the OS use more or anywhere close to the display usage.
Android OS keeps using 35 to 45% of the battery. My droid, DroidX, and Thunderbolt never used that much. This is the culprit for such a horrible battery life. I have the wifi off now and gps off when im not using it and it still has issues holding the charge for awhile. I wish I could delete the motocast account to see if that is the issue but I cant. Could it be smart actions that is causing the thing to continually search for triggers and wear battery? Or is it motocast? I don't use motocast or the stock music app ever and my mac is off too. So I want to know why the android OS is eating this battery up. Is there some fix on the way? I deleted every app and it still will show that android OS as the main battery hog by a lot. I only have gmail I don't have facebook updating anything so I really don't know what's going on.. I do know that when i used cpu spy the 300 megahertz was used for longer than the phone was in deep sleep. So something is using the CPU in that range non stop it seems.
I've been having problems with my battery monitor constantly showing wifi usage while it's never even used on my phone. There will then be sporadic times where it will show that wifi is "off" and then kick back in.
I suppose I never paid too much attention to this Data Usage app in settings and it's accuracy. My bill resets on the 9th of each month meaning i run from (BOD) 9th-8th (EOD) of each month. I have the app set to begin on the 9th of course, but it continues to display 8th-8th of each month. Is this just the way it is or am I missing something? Shouldn't the tally show date begin to date end? This configuration effectively adds one extra day to the count. It's a small inconvenience I suppose due to my unlimited plan and that I can wait an extra day to move the slider over by one day, but I'd like to keep a rough record so that I know approx data used just in case one day I have to tone it down to a shared data plan.
I installed onavo a few days ago and have noticed this process called «Android OS + others« using like 50 mb of data in just 3 days.....so what is my phone doing that its using that kind of data?? Can anyone help me figure this out? Im pretty sure all my social apps and stuff arent set up to auto sync and if thsy were it would be listed under the apps name not android os...
With ICS, under System Settings, we got this new nifty Data Usage graph where you can move sliders around to look at usage during different periods of time and set mobile data warning and mobile data limits and also see data used by individual apps. However, it has a disclaimer on it that says that this data usage graph is as measured by your phone and that your phone carrier's data usage measure may differ.
My data usage graph on the phone currently shows 643 MB for July 1 to July 17 whereas the VZW data usage widget and when looking at my account online, it currently shows 1097.05 MB (or 1.071 GB) for the same time period. How can those 2 numbers differ by that great of a margin?
The Razr Maxx lets me operate lock screen controls like the drop-down notification bar and other things like BeyondPod control screen (with Previous, Play/Pause, and Next functions), but operating anything on the screen other than the lock does not prevent the screen from timing out and turning off. I don't know if the ability to operate anything other than the unlock function on the lock screen is a feature of the Razr or Android, but timing out while using other things that are available is annoying and doesn't make sense. Is this Motorola's bug or Android's?
Also, does Motorola development read issues on these forums or do we need to go through customer support for problems like this? I'm not sure which way is more likely to get through.
I got my Droid razr maxx two Weeks ago. Since that time I have used nearly 3GB of data on browsing alone. (all updates are scheduled to wait for wireless connection). Has anyone one else noticed a spike since switching to this phone? Sometimes I get data drop out and it reconnects to a different network than before the drop i.e.(3g before lte after and vice versa) could this be the cause?
Since .893 I've seen the % of battery used by 'Android OS' to be significantly higher than before. Previously (after 12 or more hours of uptime) I'd typically always have Display as the highest %. Now it's always Android OS. Right now I'm at 16 hours on battery and my Android OS is 64% at 44 min. My Display is only 7 min.
All the same apps since before .893 and no new ones. Factory reset has made no difference in this. if this is something known and to be addressed in .901 ?
unlocked MB886, stock (not rooted), ICS 4.0.4, latest updates installedGoal- enable/display the regular in Settings...Battery...Battery Usage features, which show the battery usage % for specific phone functions, and apps.... like the screen shown below(pics taken from web)Current State: the screen shown above is not showing on my phone. Here's what the phone does display:When this phone is directed toSettings...Battery, it shows a small battery use graph...By LongPressing the graph, it highlights blue and then changes to show a larger version of the graph, with info for GPS, Wi-Fi, Awake, Screen On, and Charging..
I thought ICS was suppose to extend battery life? My MAXX wont last very long lately since the ICS, And its suppose to have a very long battery life, what happened?
One minor thing I've noticed after the GB update is line of random blue and white pixels at the top of the battery usage screen. Both my Atrix and my daughters Atrix show this. Both show different random data in the line and it appears to change over time. Anyone know if this is intentional?
My Admiral does not seem to have the fantastic battery life I have heard these phones are supposed to have. Under normal usage It will not last a day without charging. I noticed that "cell Standby" is always the highest on battery usage. It's always above 25%, most times higher than that (30% to 40%). The area where I work has poor cell reception inside the buildings so I often go 25% to 50% without a signal (Sprint). Is there anything I could do to improve any of this? This is a work phone with a work email address conected to it. So I cant use an app that turns off syncing. Will keeping on wifi improve this? Seems wifi uses less power than cell standby.
When I look at the battery use in Settings/Battery Information it shows items such as WIFI at 4+% ( WIFI not even on) or a game I played (today Jewels Star at 25% - only was to make this one disappear is to uninstall the program, this is true with any game I play). My question is, is this information about what WAS running or information on what IS running. or both.
Has anyone experienced large memory usages for the multi-touch keyboard process? When I open the process the specific task that uses the large amount of memory is the "Admin Notifier"... Has anyone else seen the same? Is this normal?
After the ICS update my email groups won't function. When i type in the group name it doesn't appear as an option for me to select. This is incredibly frustrating. What's more, the only way you can use the group is by navigating to contacts, scrolling over to groups, then pushing the group, then clicking "send email" this would be fine if i always selected the group before sending the email, but my primary use case is taking a picture and sending it to a distribution group (pictures of my kid sent to grandparents and family every day). When I take the picture then click the button to attach it to an email, then try to type in the group name, it doesn't appear.
I know this a kinda old phone, but I just had something pop up on the screen and have no clue what it is. It says "My network: invalid battery". I have 4 bars, the battery is fully charged and the phone seems to work fine.
So I was on a road trip today and when I plugged in the phone in the car dock I had full battery. Then I turned on navigation and slacker radio. About an hour travel the battery started to charge according to the battery icon. My question is, why did the battery discharge while on external power? Does the factory charger not have enough capacity to charge the phone while being used? If so something is wrong with the whole designe of the charging system.
Since I updated my RAZR with ICS, it doesn't seem to really go to sleep. It's using a ton of battery power and I've already adjusted my display down to 30 seconds.
My battery lasts good most of the day but when it gets to 50% it will drop to 20% in about 2 minutes. Do I have a bad battery or is it just out of calibration. It has did this twice in the last week. I have not run it til it shuts off so I don't know how long it would last from 20% to being out of juice.
Yesterday I checked my battery usage and Moto cast was at 20%! I did not transfer any files between the PC and the phone and when I do, I still do it by copying and pasting. I did however find some Amazon downloads that were in the phone's internal memory and transfered them to the SD card. When I used "My Files" to move those files, I first used the "move" command which did not seem to do anything. Did this activate Motocast? I eventually moved them by using copy and then paste on the phone. Here's what I got in the battery manager right now. I'm at 90%
I'm currently having an issue with the Droid Razr M where it begins rebooting when the battery is low. After the phone boots back up, it immidiatly reboots again and will continue doing this forever. The only solution I've found thus far is to boot into safe mode and uninstall the 3rd party launcher (doesn't matter which one). This will allow the phone to be booted into normal mode again. However, regadarless of if a launcher is installed or not, the phone will begin rebooting again the next time the power gets low.
Get great battery life on wifi and horrible on 3g. Lose 1percent battery every 1-2 min. Have 82dBm which is good. What might be the issue.Have heard so many different opinions.
I have the option selected, Options>Sound>. to notify when the battery is fully charged.I'm not getting a sound, a blinking LED, or anything in the status bar stating that the battery is charged as I did with GB. The only way I know it's charged is by going into options and checking the battery status under device options. The only change I have that I think could be affecting it is that I have the screen lock function turned off.
My razr started to play up a couple of days ago, i had increased phone usage and it was getting quite warm and then the touch screen wouldn't work - ie couldn't end phone calls, then today the battery died after using navigation - and now will NOT turn back on....
One of the things the custom ROM makers all do is to implement a change to the stock system to enable the battery status to be reported in 1% increments, rather than 10% as at present. They also change the battery icon set so that the correct % charge remaining is displayed in the battery in the status bar.Why doesn't Moto implement this change in their next update? It would be a welcome change to every user, and it might slightly mollify those calling for an unlocked bootloader. (Though after the glitches I've seen in this update I'm on the unlock-the-bootloader side myself.)
