Motorola Milestone GSM :: How To Reinstall The Software If The Phone Won't Boot

The phone crashed one day and now it won't boot. it stays locked on the Motorola logo but stays there and sometimes the screen goes of and back on (is that a reboot?)I can get into the Bootloader menu (90.78) but the motorola software won't recongnize the phone to reinstall the firmware. I can also get into the Recovery mode (2e) by pressing power + X but it says:E: Can't open /cashe/recovery/commandhow can i reinstall my phone so it works again?

I bought my phone in South Korea, I paid the contract fees with my local carrier overthere and she said: "that's all, the phone is all yours" (It seems that she never notice that I was foreigner and I am planning to come back to my country...plop!).when I arrived I found that my SIM was not working, so I downloaded an SBF file for US and installed it with RSDlite, it asked me for a subsidiary unlock code, so I managed to get one (I paid :/) so all was donne, I got my phone working and I even update it to FroYo 2.2.1 with a korean website.BUT without 3G connection.
looking arround I found and app (basebandswitcher V4) that will change my baseband to one that I could use and fix my problem, but it says "this app needs root access" so I managed again to root my phone, everything fine until I pick the baseband (Americas), then reboot and now my phone is stucked in Motorola logo, and it restart over and over and over.I tried to flash the old korean sbf version to it, and after it successfully finish, keeps restarting again and again.

It is seen in the web that Motorola is going to release updates for unlocking the locks in the bootloader in its phones just like xoom from Q3 ,2011 onwards.Is it true?If so whether it will be available to the Milestone(European version) also?And to the rooted Milestone also?Whether this update is available by OTA or through web?

I own a French Retail A953 Milestone 2 and I'm looking forward to android 2.3 update. So, after followed the thread [URL]and it's on ! The update is here.Unfortunately when trying to update my mobile using MSU the answer is "no new update availlable yet for your mobile"...I'm using A953 with Android 2.2.2 and the system version is Version.62.4.24.A953.Retail.en.FR.

is there anything i can do to improve flash video playback? after the 2.2 update i was excited to be able to use flash on my phone, but video playback on it seems so bad that it's unwatchable.it's like a slideshow at best, and at worse i'm only getting one frame every thirty seconds or so. oddly enough the sound never skips or stutters at all.i've tried it over wifi and 3g. Internet videos in the native app and other non-flash streaming media seem to work perfectly.i'm using the stock browser with flash player 10.2.157.51 (the latest one available in the android market), and i've tried several different videos linked from m.flash.com

I updated my Milestone which is UAE version to Froyo yesterday after a long delay, was really excited all evening until i discovered two problems with my wifi.The Device does not connect to the corporate network as my office uses 802.1x EAP and there is no place to enter proxy where as my friends using samsung galaxy s (Froyo 2.2) connect to the network and browse using the wifi advanced settings to enter the proxy in their device.

I have a problem in my milestone. Im trying to update my milestone to froyo from eclair 2.1 update 1 via MSU (Motorola Software Update). But after some minute It restart with a blank screen then reboot to OS and MSU says update failed. My last resort is to flash it via RSDLITE but when im trying to get into bootloader it shows blank screen then reboot to OS. I cant enter to my bootloader.

Have a brand new install of Windows 7 64bit and a 6 month old Milestone 2 which has always succesfully connected to PC/Mac in USB mass storage mode, but when trying to connect to new Windows & PC the PC tries to install MTP drivers that fail.Solution is to select the failed device in device manager and manually install the driver selecting the device as a USB mass storage device and not the default MTP device.

This is my first Android based phone and I have some important questions (based on my personal knowledge of course):
1.Is there a PC program out there that would do the work of PC Suite for Nokia phones? i.e. backup phone through wire, update phone through wire, connect phone to computer and reply to sms�s through computer, synchronize contacts with Outlook and appointments and not wait to get an internet connection?
2.How can I enable alarm when phone is off?
3.I use open home � however it crashes a lot of times� is there another software, or we should stick to the one on the phone with 3 screens?
4.I tried to update my phone however it was saying that server was not responding. Can I do the update through usb?
5.How can I add birthday information to a contact?
6.If I use 3rd party applications for example �better keyboard� would it have any impact on the phone and overall work? Or it is ok to replace the default programs with anything else?
7.I tried to install Talk to ME keyboard, but it says that I don�t have Google voice� Is there another application that would do that work without Google voice?
These for now after 3 days of use of the phone!  I suppose I won�t get a reply for all , but on the other side, I don�t have anywhere else to ask except from you guys that are experts on these things!

I recently bought this generic phone pouch with a belt clip and every once in a while the battery and phone will be completely dead. The pouch covers the phone entirely except for the top which is open and I can slide the phone into the pouch from the top. I am sure that the pouch does not have a magnet ie the phone is not coming out of sleep while in the pouch. Even in Airplane mode and all wireless devices turned off the phone dies. I cannot understand and believe this. The pouch is relatively tight and the only thing I can think of is that somehow the side camera button and/or rocker volume switch combination is being "pressed" while in the pouch and causes the phone to turn on and die.
If the phone battery doesn't die the battery is down by 40% with no use at all during the day ie I always use the phone in Airplane mode while at work. I do not answer the phone while working.What could be causing this? I can just go buy a new pouch but this totally does not make any sense to me.

After spending 2 hours on the forums and 2 hrs on motorola website, downloading the motorola software update and finding that the updater says that your phone is up to date with 2.1 (where as the motorola site says 2.2 is now available) and browsing thru unending discussions, I was unable to update my Motorola milestone to Android 2.2. I last week sent my phone to the service center to ask them to update it to 2.2, they returned the phone saying it is up to date.I am sick of removing applications and always worrying about the remaining ROM availability. [code]
If the official version is not available in Dubai can someone tell me of a shop where I can get it updated, as I dont really understand the concept of rooting and stuff like that.

After recently buying a new Milestone outright I'm looking to protect the hell out of it. I currently have purchased a hard case for the phone itself (seidio innocase) as well as a screen protector.Now the next thing that I am looking for is a good Vertical case/pouch.The thing is that it must be vertical and it must be open at the top (I don't want a cover at all.I want to be able to slide the phone in and out easily). I also must have a belt clip on it.I have found a few online, but for what reviews that I have read stated that they are hard to get the phone in and out of when the phone is naked (no case on it). Since I am planning to have the phone in a hard case at all times that particular case will not work for me.
I have seen the pDair case and it looks good, but $28 USD plus shipping (to Canada) I want to make sure that the phone (in a hard case) will fit in it. I havn�t found any reviews on it as of yet either.I know that the iphone & Nexus One are about the same size as the Milestone and wonder if anyone has tried any of those cases with success? As I am sure (especially for the iphone) that there is a wider selection of cases available.

Trying out Milestone in home. Keeps disconnecting from wifi have to keep checking it and reconnecting. Btw, is there an app that gives a wifi symbol at the top of the screen? Wifi works perfectly with my laptop.

I updated my milestone to 2.2 But it has got very slow, Moreover it hangs itself. Screen shows some lines n then when i press the screen lock button the screen goes black and the shortcut screen still glows.Phone recieves the call and if i press the volume button it correctly vibrates and beeps. I have tried formatting, flashing from the service centre everything. The people here in service centre are dumb. They say that the fone have problem in flex, but My phone used to work fine when I had 2.1.

I'm encountring some problems with the nokia lumia 920 and windows 8. The nokia lumia 920 has been recognized for some days by the "windows phone" app available in the store. Now the phone isn't correctly recognized, I can see in device list "RM821|Nokia Lumia 920" but it hasn't a phone icon it's very strange.I've tested the following approaches:
-Remove windows phone app and reinstall: No changes
-Reboot both phone and pc: No changes
-Uninstall all drivers installed when the lumia 920 is connected: No changes
The mobile isn't recognized by visual studio 2k12 and also isn't recognized by "Windows Phone Developer Registration" app.

Even though the Backflip comes to AT&T in a week, it looks to me that the Droid/Milestone may be the better phone. Bigger but better. But can I get one that uses all the AT&T 850MHz bands? It doesn't seem to be like Nokia, where I could simply buy the phone I wanted from (e.g.) J&R or NewEgg; where does one buy unlocked NAM (North American) Motorola Milestones from?

I have an unlocked motorola milestile that I just bought about 2 weeks ago and had it unlocked for bell. Anyways, recently bell called me saying that I owe them about $250 for tethering my phone, I apparently used about 15mb by tethering. I got pissed and told them I never did that and they said the best they could do is reduce the bill to $100, I took what I could get.
After talking with them, I realized that I always connected my phone to my computer in order to recharge it during the night (it's more convenient and safer then using the wall jack, the wall jacks are in places people can step on my phone). I figured I must have been accidentally tethering with it.Anyways, I still wanna use my computer to recharge the phone when it needs recharging. So how do I disable the tethering to make sure this doesn't happen again? Also, is there a good way for me to confirm that tethering is disabled?

Just picked up a used Milestone today, and for whatever reason, I cannot save an APN. Using this on the Fido network, it's running 2.1 kernel version is 2.6.29-omap1. When I edit the APN and click save, nothing appears. Any ideas?
