Motorola Droid X :: "Insufficient Space" Error Message
Nov 25, 2011
I frequently get an error saying there is insufficient space when I try to install or update apps. I then have to go to the market and find the app to try again. (It usually works the second time. Only once have I had to do it there times.) I would estimate this happens once every 8 installs/updates. I have 5.9 GB free on the phone, and 8 GB on the SD card. This started happening a few months or weeks ago. Does anybody else have this problem?
Many of my apps are no longer functioning propery (even email) because the internal storage has filled up. All 8.9 gbs of it. I have an SD Card (32 gb) and it has over 29 gb of available space. I have the media set to save to the sdcard so my pics/movies are there. I have 1.9 gbs of space (out of the 2.9 gb) for apps left so I have plenty of room there. How and what do I move to the SDCARD and how do I make sure this data is saved to the sdcard from now on? When I go to manage the apps I can;t find anything. I can manually move files but what can/should I move and how do I get the apps (etc) to save to the sdcard only?
So I originally tried to update one of my apps that I've been using for awhile when I got the "insufficient space on the device" error message, so then I uninstalled it and tried to download it again and still get the error message.
The app is 20.09MB in size and I currently have 445MB of available space on my Samsung Galaxy S5.
I went through and uninstalled a bunch of apps that I just don't use anymore as well as moved a bunch over to my SD card and yep still getting the message so I don't understand what's going on?
I also tried downloading other apps just to see if it was something within that app or if it's my phone but I get it.
When downloading stuff from the NEW market app, i get the error "insufficient space available" after i installed the radio that comes with gingerbread N_01.77.30P
I don't think i had this issue with an older radio. I will revert to the older market until a solution is available
I've been running into problems trying to install apps after a number of my apps have been installed that I had on my Droid X and X2. About 2/3 of the way through installing my apps, they started failing because of being out of space. Well, I found that moving apps to the media area (a la sd card on older phones) worked to get more installed, but after jockeying back and forth between installing and moving and then running out of space and moving newly installed ones so that I can install more new ones, I've hid a road block. I'm not sure what the problem is, as I had all of these on my older phones without problems and if I go to Manage Applications, my Application storage shows 578MB used, 1.4GB free.
Only recently my telco releases OS5 for BOLD 9000. Initially I downloaded it and tried to install but it says that there is insufficient space, at that point of time i still keep my fav theme ans stuff which free apps space is around 20mb, and the installation still says that I have insufficient space until I totally wipe the whole thing clean to its original factory status BUT it still says insufficient space for update. Do I have to delete the system software of 4.6 before I need to have the "space" required? (I have currently 50mb of free apps space isn't it enough?)
Please help as the previous update from earlier version to version 4.6 was just few clicks away from desktop manager and things are done and for this 4.6 to 5 update takes me 1 whole day, loosing all my setting and data (cleaned EVERYTHING that I can think of and read all the thread in CB still I can't update to OS 5) Its a Real waste of time and pain from head to toe. I have 50mb of free Application storage space and yet it still needs 7mb of space for the update. I'm thinking of sledge hammering my Bold a couple of time through the process of deleting and restarting.
1)i am unable to upgrade my software and also all the time my phones is processing something. please help.
2) there is enough memory space on my phone and media card still it shows unable to download software due to insufficient space. Infact there is only few kbs utilised.
Is anyone else having this problem? When I try to watch a movie with Netflix I recieve :"Sorry we could not reach the Netflix service. Please try again later. If the problem persists please visit the Netflix Website (1009)"I contacted Netflix and they had no idea on how to fix it. I was unable to locate a fix with Motorola either.
When connecting a Droid Razr Maxx to our Mercedes via bluetooth, we get a text message import error every time whether or not we have any text messages on the phone. Any ideas? The dealer worked on this today and found that all the other phones which were owned by employees worked without this message.
I keep getting the unsupported multimedia file error message when some people send pics. Both are from Iphones, but yet I have received others from an Iphone!
I am having a problem with my Droid Bionic. Whenever I try to view pictures, through the camera or gallery, I get an error message that reads, "Phone memory is full, not enough memory to start application. delete some files." Because of this, I have had no access to any of my pictures.
I have deleted many files and do not think there are more that can be deleted without losing things that I need. I have deleted some apps from the phone. How do I clear the cache on the phone?
After upgrading to Gingerbread I noticed that when I go to the recent apps screen and I try to open Tweetdeck (seems to be the only app that does this) I get a "Application is not installed on phone" error message. Which makes no sense because it's running in the background and opens fine. I've cleared my cache and uninstalled and reinstalled TD and still get the error. Assuming this is a bug, but it seems weird to only happen for a specific app.
Why am I constantly plagued with the "Low on volume space: Internal storage space is getting lo"? Nothing in shared folders. Protected content - all any of those things take me to a black screen w/ nothing there. SD card, yes, that's where I keep 29.17GB of 32GB of almost all music - it's the whole reason I bought this phone in the first place. Why does it pester me, and is there a way to make it stop?
SD card was getting a little full so I deleted all my music from it. That space is still not free, but the music isn't there either. I've tried accessing the card via Terminal and couldn't find anything there either. I'm down to 262 KB remaining on a 16GB card that has almost no media on it..
I keep getting a low memory warning and I need to find a way to fix it.I have about 1.3gb left on phone memory. My internal SD card says it has .90gb left, with 7.1gb being used. I have nothing in the media section and I have moved everything I can when presented with the option to make more room on the internal SD.Is there a way to clear more space? Moving apps to SD doesn't work. They just go to the internal SD card. I'm not sure what is taking up so much space. I don't have that many apps loaded up.
Sometimes when I update an app and it tries to install, it says not enough space. This happened a lot before the 875 update, was fixed, and now is a problem again with the 902 update. My phone has 4 GB space free and yet this message still pops up. Most of the time if i just hit update on the app again, it will work, but its annoying when you need to re-download a 40 MB app.
I have very few apps downloaded to my phone, but I am continually running into problems concerning a lack of available space. When I look at the amount of space each application is taking up, none of the apps is using more than about 7 MB except for email, which is using a whopping 191 MB. I only have 11 emails in my inbox.
My daughter has a BB curve and has a problem sending text messages to one of her friends. She gets a message back saying that there are insufficient digits in the number. However, she has the correct number in her contact list and has also tried to reply to a received text from the friend but gets the same message. I have the same number in my BB Bold 9700 and she is able to send messages successfully from my phone. She has also re-saved the number of her contact but still no luck. This is the only number she has problems with.
I can't get D2G to read an e-mailed .pdf document. I have uninstalled and reinstalled Adobe Reader several times. I have removed and reinstalled the battery several times (seems like a pretty lame fix, but it works sometimes). I have unmounted and remounted the sd card. I open the document in page layout and I can see, but can't read, three of five pages. When I turn the phone to view in landscape mode I get the message "Error: Out of memory". I get same error message if I try to expand a page in page layout using the touch-screen. I can view it from desktop computer so I know the file is not corrupted. I have 12 page documents in my D2G messaging folder I can view w/ no problems at all.
I'm currently on pure nexus/ then restored stock and titanium backup is displaying an insufficient storage error when trying to back up an app. Also, I can't download anything from Firefox or chrome.I've reflashed the ROM and it didn't solve my issues. What can I do to fix this?
I was receiving the message "There is insufficient network coverage to process your request; Please try again later" only when I tried to open a New York Times site with my browser--other websites opened fine. I received this message repeatedly whether I was on a good 3G connection with Sprint or a very good wi-fi connection, so I knew it had NOTHING to do with "network coverage."
I have an issue using the "double space to insert period" option on the physical keyboard of my Droid 4, which was recently updated to Ice Cream Sandwich. This is the pegged down description.I want the virtual keyboard default to be Motorola's, not Swype. (Not a Swype fan, evidenced by my desire for a physical keyboard phone to begin with.) I also want the options of auto-correction and auto-capitalization turned off for my physical keyboard.I cleared out the cache/data settings for keyboards several times and tried many combos, and came to the following conclusion: If "Show word correction suggestions" for the Motorola virtual keyboard is on "always show" then I can double-space to insert a period and also have a space between that period and the next word. Everything works fine.
However, any other option besides "always show" means that the double-space/period simply will not work, and I have to put up with the suggestion box always popping up as I type with the physical keyboardFor now, I have to have show word suggestions to be always on as a temporary fix, though I hate it and want it turned off. Hopefully in time I can get the correct fix, which is why I have come here to see if anyone has any suggestions. Even if I've tried a route in the past, I will try it again this time around to doubly-ensure it will/won't fix the issue as we try to come to a proper solution.(P.S. I do not remember trying to use this option on Gingerbread, if it even existed. I just saw it on ICS after upgrading and figured it would be cool to have and ran with it.)
I put a bunch of music on the Ext. SD card and I've got about 400MB left on that card. I'm getting a "Low on Volume Space" notification over and over again. How can I stop this notification? If there is no way to stop the notification (very annoying, the space is there to be used after all), does anyone know what triggers the notification. I could clear music off until it is no longer sending the notification,
I bought my Golf Edition a few days ago. Ran into some issues but eventually resolved it myself (as I ended up in a circle trying to reach someone that could support me from Motorola but without any luck). Just want to share my experience so that if someone ran into the same issue, they probably can try it.I live in Ontario, Canada. My Motoactv came with US maps and I needed to download Canadian course packs.I have my device connected by USB. I followed the instruction on screen to download the Canadian Ontario packs. It gave it a five seconds trial and gave me an error of "Insufficient Memory, remove some music". I have no music stored and i had over 12 Gb of space left. I reset eveything to factory condition and still didn't work.
I went to a Wi-Fi hotspot at my golf club, got it connected and retried again over Wi-Fi. It didn't work and gave me the same incorrect error message.Getting quite frustrated, I was trying one last time at home before makting the decision to return it, placing the device close to my Wi-Fi router at home. This time it works very well, and downloaded everything. So, it looks like that the "Insufficient Memory" message could mean that the connection between the device and the server is not strong or fast enough and have nothing to do with memory. The work around is to retry in a place when the Wi-Fi connection is very strong and fast.
