Motorola Droid Razr :: Volume Rockers Don't Work While On A Call
Jul 19, 2012
I have noticed that if I am on a call and the display is blank. The volume rockers will not respond. If I move the phone away from my ear the volume rockers will respond once the display comes on.
Is there a setting that would allow the volume to be adjusted while in a call without taking the phone away from my face. the volume key should not lock out when the screen turns off during a call.
For those few of us who actually use the RAZR to make phone calls, ;-) have you noticed a change in the sound volume of the ear speaker? On mine, it seems to have become quieter, and even with the volume all the way up I can't hear callers as well as before.
So, we've discussed this in other forums. There are hundreds that experience this problem. The volume will not raise or lower when the screen is off. (Such as holding it up to your ear.) You have to take the phone away from your ear and turn on the screen before you can change the volume. So, will they be fixing this any time soon? I know that theyre working on the hotspot, but this affects more users. Some have thought that this was put in by design to keep someone from inadvertently raising the volume while talking. If th the case, then Motorola needs to give us an option to turn this setting off. Many owners are upset about this. e heard that the volume will raise if you repeatedly press it. m on my second Razr and I can honestly tell you that neither worked this way.
In call using the ear peace (no head set or Blue tooth devices) I am unable to hear the caller unless I turn the phone to speaker phone. (have tried adjusting volume during call with no result it like the caller is muted).I can't find any setting that I may have bumped to cause this also speaker still works cause I can hear the caller in loud speaker mode.
I got my Razr Maxx replaced under Asurion warranty, got sent a "Certified Like New" from Verizon, and I can't hear people through the earpiece. It's way quieter than my other phone, even at the loudest volume, and then it crackles at that volume. Can I fix this myself or do I need to take it to Verizon and demand that they give me a good phone without having to pay their crap replacement fee?
Has anyone else noticed a crackling noise (like bad reception / interference) when placing calls? I want to say what I notice is when I'm getting the ring back while waiting for someone to pick up is the "only" time I hear it. The audio in calls seems to be ok. It's sounds like a weak signal or interference. As far as I know (though I use my phone more for data than voice).I haven't noticed anything horrible as far as reception/call audio in calls, aside from when calling my mom, but I think that's her (she's famous for leaning on the mic or mumbling and trailing off). I start to think I must be old (I'm not) and losing my hearing (I'm not) but then I just realize it's herI don't know if it's because usually when I make a call I just unlock the screen and make the call and it was trying to re-start any data sleeping modes and such or if it's something else...
Is it just me or with the upgrade to JB has Moto taken the colume controls on this phone and downgraded the performance of the speaker?
Having mild hearing loss I loved the fact that with this phone my ringtones and notification sounds could wake up the dead. For normal situations I would have to slide the volume controls to the mid point of the slide bar, but when I was in a noisy environment I could slide the controls all the way to the right and be sure I wouldn't miss a call. Now after the upgrade it seems like even with the slider controls all the way to the right the volume is no where nearly as loud as it used to be.
Is this just me or did Moto make a change with the update? If so is there anyway to get back to the pehnenomal speaker performance we had under ICS?
Frequently when I am using my bluetooth (I use more than one Motorola BT Oasis and Motorola H710) and when I end the call the Razr does not drop the call until I wake the Razr up.
Has anyone found a setting for the volume of the shutter sound that occurs when you take a screenshot of the RAZR MAXX on ICS? It seems much louder than any other sound effect on the phone.
This makes the volume rocker and frame look "rough", when I think that's just the camera and flash accentuating ribbed nature of the volume rocker Anyway, does anybody else's look like this around the volume rocker? I can actually push it back in just a tad on the top side of the rocker, but not on the bottom.
If this is the way it is, well, so be it. If it's not, and nobody else has this issue, I'll be exchanging it later. I've done nothing to this phone but hold it in my hand and set it on my bedside table. The VZW rep put it in their black hard-shell case, which is very tight and hard to get off, but other than that, this has been babied during the whopping 16 hours I've had it.
Recently, when I unplug my headphones, the media volume level indicator briefly comes up and shows that the media volume has been set to zero. I can't imagine why this is happening.
I've noticed this happen several times before, but if I'm connecting/disconnecting to headphone jack or bluetooth, all media volumes will go silent (resuming a podcast, music, etc), and turning up/down the volume has no affect. The only fix I've found is to pause everything, go to the homescreen, turn the phone volume (which appears automatically) down, then go back into the app and press play. However, sometimes I can't turn the phone volume down on the homescreen because only the media volume appears, even after I close the media apps (even from the recent menu from holding the Home button). Even going into Menu > System Settings > Sound > Volumes and adjusting everything there made no difference. I had to make a phone call, hang up, then go back to the homescreen, turn the phone volume all the way to mute/vibrate, then turn it back up and go back into my media app and the media sound would be restored. It's really frustrating and considering how often I use media apps and how often this happens, I'm considering ditching the Razr Maxx and getting a non-Motorola phone.
I have found that the earpiece volume after the JB update, when you pick up a call is very loud and can't be lowered unless you rock the volume buttons during the call. Even if you leave the volume low during the call, on any subsequent calls the volume reverts back to being very lound and you have to do it all over again. I didn't have this issue on ICS. I did notice it on the leaked OTA before the official OTA also. When I reverted back to ICS after the leak and before the official OTA, the issue fixed itself.
My phone received the Jelly Bean update which is awesome and it runs very smoothly. The only issue I am having is when listening to music in Pandora or Songza and i get a notification, the volume is approximately half until the song changes or i exit the app and restart the app. Also, if the phone is on silent or vibrate this does not happen.
This is the only phone that i've had that does not allow the option to link the notification and ringtone volume together. it's really inconvenient to use the volume rocker to adjust the volume of the ringtone, only to have to go deep in to settings to adjust the notitication volume as well.At least on my nexus 7, there's a mini setting when you hit the volume rocker that allows you to adjust the playback and notification volumes from your current screen. i hope that gets added to the JB build of this phone, if we cant link.
In GB we used to be able to link our ring tone and notification volume. Doing that allowed me to use Smart Actions to lower the volume of my phone when at work, or make it go completely silent when at school. After upgrading to ICS I no longer have the ability to link the two volumes (see attached photo). How can I link the two volumes again and continue using Smart Actions. (note I want to try and not use third party apps to do something that was an included feature, ex: using another profile management app to disable notification sounds.)
So I bought my wife a new D2 in December. A month ago it suddenly no longer saw the memory card. Verizon replaced it with a USED D2 Global. I hate Verizon. The replacement immediately had low in call volume and only a power off would fix it. They then sent another USED D2 Global. I hate Verizon. The replacement D2 Global arrived and guess what....low in call volume. Went back to the store and they're sending yet another. Really? How much of their shipping costs and my time are they going to waste? I'll keep taking it back and maybe after 10 replacements they'll realize how much shipping costs they've wasted.
I just got the Razr HD on Thursday when it became available and I love it so far. I connected my Sony Bluetooth stereo headset (url...). So, not the typical one ear peice just for answering calls. I got them because I listen to music on phone while at the gym and the wire from my old headset kept getting in the way. So, these worked great with the Droid X, never had a problem. I connected them to my Razr HD and the volume instantly goes the the max and cannot be turn down. I use the volume rocker and the volume stays at the max volume until I turn the volume all the way down at which point there is no sound. I can't find a bluetooth volume slider in the sound volume settings and the "Music, Video, Games, & other media" volume control isn't doing anything to adjust the volume for my headset. The headset does not have a volume control of its own and right now I can't use it becuase it is way too loud. I know there ways to be able to adjust the volume for each device independently on custom roms and rooted devices why can't these simple things be added to "stock" roms? Anyone know how to get the volumes to work without having to go to a custom ROM?
I upgraded a few days ago to the Razr from the X2. I noticed that the boot animation sound volume is so low I can barely hear it. Is this normal? Is there any way to increase the volume of the boot animation sound?
My Razr has suddenly started the ringer volume bar coming up on the screen by itself. I can only get it off the screen by turning my phone off and then back on again. Then after a period of time, it comes back up again. This is killing my battery life.
I picked up a standard dock for the Razr today and I noticed something odd about the volume. If I have my headphones plugged directly into the dock itself the volume is considerably lower and have to have the media volume all the way up. When I have the headphones plugged directly into the phone the sound levels are normal. Would really like to be able to just keep my headphones plugged into the back of the dock - how to increase the dock volume?
Took away the wonderful feature of the stock alarm starting out at low volume and increasing to full volume....I want it back! The wonderfully useful & simple Sticky Note, and the neat & simple Weather widget, and I just discovered the Alarm-Timer is now just an alarm (no timer) and is without the increasing volume feature, they are all gone in JB.
Does anyone else notice a delay in volume adjustment when you try to raise or lower the volume via the side buttons while playing music? my razr seems to hate doing so, the media volume bar will appear and disappear several times before the volume is raised all the way. my droid 2 took only about a second of holding the up button, holding the up button on my razr doesnt move the volume more than one or two clicks.
I have the droid turbo 32g. If I am listening to something on headphones and someone calls, the in call volume will be wake-the-dead loud. I can try to adjust the volume either before answering the call or after answering, but it makes no difference. It is loud enough that is uncomfortable to keep the speaker against my ear. I'd say this happens about 75% of the time. I can't figure out why it occasionally works correctly.
I seem to recall on my D2G that there was a setting in either Sounds or the Phone settings that would allow you to set a default in call volume. I can't seem to find that on the D4 and it would nice to have as the phone's default in call volume seems to be 100% which leads me to be continually turning down the volume on every call.
