Motorola Droid Razr M :: Automatic Brightness Not Available Since Jelly Bean Update
Nov 21, 2012
Since updating to Jelly Bean, the automatic brightness feature is downright terrible. It makes using my phone on a daily basis extremely frustrating. It is too aggressive when switching between bright / dim modes, and tends to make the brightness "flicker." I also wish the phone didn't bump the screen brightness up / down rapidly. Why can't it gently fade it?
The jelly bean upgrade wiped out all my speed dials. I went into phone settings and there is not an option for assigning speed dials (as indicated in the manual). How to set them up.
I have a Razr Maxx HD. Before I upgraded to Jelly Bean I could press and hold the power button for a second and it would bring up a menu that included "Power off", "Airplane mode", "Sleep mode" and some others. Now after upgrading from ICS to Jelly Bean there is no "Sleep mode" selection.Did something go wrong with my upgrade or has "Sleep mode" been removed? Also, I was using the live wallpaper "Grass" and that is gone as well. Did that also get removed with Jelly Bean?
I'm currently with Rogers in Canada and looking to jump ship to another carrier. Can I still get the Jelly Bean update if I'm with another mobile provider once Rogers comes out with the JB update? Would Motorola have the update online to download?
how to get into recovery mode on the RAZR M with Jelly Bean loaded? I would like to wipe my cache.I am able to power down the phone, hold both volume buttons, power on the phone, and choose "Recovery" from the black & white (bootloader?) menu. The phone proceeds to the screen with the Android character lying on his back with the red triangle showing. However I cannot get any menu options to appear as I could with ICS by holding down both volume buttons.Has anyone been able to get the "cache/date wipe" menu options to appear on the red triangle screen?
My issues since Jelly Bean upgrade. the email client that came with my Maxx HD does not auto sync anymore, my AOL email does not sync at all even after i double check for the right password. I keep getting an error "The password and username you entered did not authenticate with your email provider." I never got this error prior to the Jelly Bean Update. I even changed my password for my aol account and entered the new password in the phone. where the hell did speed dials go.
You have upgraded your android software upgrade page with the following information for Asia/Pacific, MOTOROLA RAZR ICS (Android 4.0.4) rollouts began in July 2012. Upgrade to Jelly Bean (Android 4.1) planned for select countries and carriers, Can you be specific about which countries you will cover ?
I don't care if its not an HD resolution display, or if some apps are not compatible because of the Intel Chip. But I can't really buy a Razr I if I will not be able to install/move apps to the SD card, I can't have only 5Gb for Apps! Specially now that some apps/games can take around 600mb-1gb of space. I know some apps need to be on the internal memory, but most not.
So my question is, will this be addressed with the Jelly Bean update? If so, I think this is the phone for me, if not I guess I'll have to keep looking for another one.
Yesterday I found that my Razr I can be updated to 4.1.2. I was very happy about that and updated the phone. After that I found one missed feature. Cannot move your applications to SD with Razr I. But it was the feature to move pictures and videos and some docs to SD automatically (in "settings - storage" area). So I could use this feature to move pics made by some apps and stored in to main memory automatically to SD card. Now it is not available any more. How can I perform this action with Jelly Bean? I have to do it manually now, connected phone to PC.
Will the next version of the Droid Bionic OS (Jelly Bean) have webtop support? I'm considering purchasing a lapdock, but I'll hold off if the next version (which is promised within the coming months) doesnt support the webtop application. I'm hoping they will atleast add in webtop 3.0 which is currently on ICS, but I'm not sure if thats compatible or doable.
I have tried to update to Jelly Bean 4.1 but every time after I download and try to install after the reboot it says "Update Software Failed" I have tried resetting the phone back to its factory settings clearing out all data and still the same issue.
i have heard that sony gives a list of devices that going to upgrade to jb and knows that 2011 xperia wont get jb upgrade.but i heard some rumors that sony i continually investigating 2011 xperia with jb and will add some 2011 xperia models to the list which release in 2013.i wish sony will not make 2011 users cry with the buggy ics and upgrade to jb like other companys....if i got a jb i sure ill be an active customer or if we stay on buggy ics i will defenitly never buy sony products its sure....other brands are working hard and they suceeded to upgrade even their low end devices to jb.then why a powerful hadware cannot meet a smooth os.
Which is really annoying because I often found that it was useful to force GSM because several of my phones (including my current HTC One) favour a weak WCDMA connection over a strong GSM, which is pointless when all I want is a phone conversation with a good line!
Really kinda loathing this update... an unwelcome change that hasn't really brought me anything good that I've noticed. Also since this update, I've been really missing being able to unlock the phone just by pressing the button (swiping the screen feels pointless on the HTC One and is slower when I want to frequently just check my location of Maps or something)...
Since the last automatic Droid Razr update a few weeks ago it is very complicated to mark all unread emails as read! It was easy to do before but after this update it seems not to work! If go to my main email account I can sort the email by date, unread, or other options. I select by unread. I then press the menu key and select "select all". Then some iconw appear in the bottom: a trash, a mail, and a flag. I select the mail one and it opens up and the word "mark read" appears but the messages don't clear as read. It used to work without issues before the update.
When Jelly Bean becomes available either OTA or via Kies will I have to go though the same procedure I had to when I updated to ICS i.e. back-up, factory reset then download and install ICS then another factory reset?
I updated my phone with the new android jelly bean and it is running very smooth, but it installed more than 10 apps in Japanese or Chinese which are useless for those who don't know the language.
Tapping my way through "Go to all settings" > "Accounts" > "Google". I see my gmail account shown, and under that it says "Sync is OFF". Before the update to Jellybean I could find where to turn this on and off. Further tapping on my account name I get to a screen titled "Sync" at the top-left. The options icon gives me "Sync now" and "Remove account" options. The screen is filled with a list of Google things I can sync. Tapping any of those syncs that Google thing. But, none of them are configurable.
There is a setting to enable the RAZR to automatically keep its time correct by syncing with a time server somewhere on the internet. When I checked the time on my RAZR against my PC, where I have a service that sets the time from an atomic clock, I found that the RAZR was off by more than 14 seconds. I disabled the option and instead installed an app called "ClockSync" that sets the correct time. Unfortunately, the automatic time update setting is required by Verizon in order to login to My Verizon Mobile, so I either give up checking my data and call usage or I give up accurate time. This is very annoying. Can we get Verizon to use a reliable time server instead of whatever they are using now?
This has only happened twice since I've had the Razr but sometimes when I power on the phone the brightness is super bright and the colors are way off - like it is over exposed. Turning off the screen and on again resolves the issue.
Wondering if anyone else if experiencing this. I've replaced it in the mm dock several times and it is so dim I can barely see it. I have tried setting the display brightness to max and setting it to auto with no effect.I've set the night mode brightness on the mm dock setting to as bright as it can get with no change. BTW it is 1:30 in the afternoon. Interesting that at night when it should be dim it is as bright as it can be. Checked the clock and the DX2 knows the correct time.
It was ironic that ICS was launched on motorola RAZR just when Jelly beans was around the corner. Ignoring the fact that we were promised ICS in first quater of 2012. I would like to know does Motorola plan to release JB 4.1 for Razr/ Razr Maxx and if yes by when ?
