i have disabled Internet, play books, and play movies several times and they always come back after a reboot. how do i stop this from happening? i am sick of bloat i do not want! is verizon, or google, or whoever even listening to us?

I got a new Maxx HD today and have it all set with a lot of apps disabled. I checked the system update and there's the small bug-fix update that was pushed out a couple of weeks ago ready to be downloaded. My question is should I enable the apps again and do the update or is it safe to do the update with the apps disabled?
View 6 Replies View RelatedAt home I am pretty sure it does the same thing. This morning when I got to the office, I noticed it was telling me that I have a wifi available. Open it up and there was the known wifi I have been connected to before, all week. Odd though, it says disabled but when i click it to connect, it says obtaining ip but then does back to not connected and says disabled. So basically I cannot connect to the wifi and I am 110% positive I have the correct password since I have connected to it just yesterday. Also curious why it isn't just connecting automatically to a known wifi. I have checked and others are on it right now.
View 3 Replies View RelatedDoes anyone have any ideas about why Moto might have decided to kill Flash on our phones before it was necessary? It's not an ICS thing, because my GNex still has Flash and it works well. I know that Adobe will not be allowing new downloads from the Play Store starting on 8/15 (but they will still be providing bug fixes for those who already have it) & that Flash Player is not supported in Jelly Bean, but what gives with Moto killing Flash in our ICS update? Now, whenever I visit a page that has an embedded Flash video in the browser, it crashes the browser. :(
Addl. details: Basically, when you upgrade, the Adobe Flash Player app gets uninstalled from your phone. If you reinstall it from the Play Store, it won't work for embedded videos on websites. Unfortunately, many websites still use Flash for their embedded videos. :( Hopefully websites will start switching over to HTML5. This isn't just a bug.. there is an actual process running on the phone called FlashRemoval that Moto slapped in there. I expect to get Jelly Bean ASAP, since Moto prepared the phone for not having Flash so early. ;)
I've noticed that after the ICS update, newly downloaded and installed widgets from Google Play don't show up in the Widgets list until I reboot. Not a critical bug, but annoying nonetheless. I have noticed this on my Acer A500 and A100 tablets on ICS as well, so I assume it's an OS problem, not hardware-specific. Wondering if anyone has found a workaround, and would also like Moto to be aware of this so that it can be corrected in the (hopefully) next update.

View 1 Replies View RelatedDroid RAZR - bought in November from Verizon store. Screen protectors and case are used; phone has experienced no trauma. While in Gmail today, the screen pixellated, became unresponsive, and now is inoperable. The screen appears as a mostly uniform field of slowly shifting color (pink, green) with a perhaps .75 inch bar of white on the bottom; see attached picture (it was hard to get a good shot because of the lighting). The phone still "works" internally - if you call it, it rings; the screen sleeps after an appropriate time and you can push the power button to bring it back; I hear the chime of emails and texts coming in. However, none of the menu/home/back buttons work, and touching the screen apparently does nothing. When I push the power button to "wake" the phone, the previously described white bar appears instantly, and the fuzzy colored remainder of the screen "develops" over about ten seconds.
I forced a reboot via the power button/volume trick, and heard the reboot process - but the same screen issue stayed throughout the reboot.I am at about 15% power; perhaps a complete shutdown forced by loss of battery power will eventually help. Plugging it in to a charger did not help.
So I preorder the RAZR and got it a day before the 11-11-11 launch. I had my phone setup and was about to go to bed and my device started a continuous reboot cycle that made the battery go dead by morning. I went to local store and the looked at it and said that they couldn't fix it will just give you a new one.I got a new RAZR and other that battery life issues which I am not happy about I can deal because I can have it charging in my office during the day. Well last night about 7 it started continuous reboot cycle this time I plugged it in and did a reset holding the power and the down volume. It been rebooting since last night I am not in my office with it plugged in.
View 15 Replies View RelatedOn my brand new Razr (24hrs old!) - I have noticed that when the phone boots and the SD card is mounted, there is an Audible sound "DROID" - and its annoying. (Now, I am not talking about the mechanical sound/video that fires up when the phone boots). In Sound Settings I find a section called "SD Card Notifications". You can turn that off or on and here is the odd part. If I turn it On, it will use whatever I have the "Notification Ringtone" set at. That makes sense. If I turn if Off, it will use my "Phone Ring Tone"! - A long MP3... This does not make sense. In other words, I cannot silence it and I would like to. The phone does have a "Silent" ring tone (internally) but it is not one of the available "Notification Ringtones" I can use.

I checked sound settings and they are all maxed out after a reboot, but still no sound until the second text message.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI put the Motorola toggle widgets on my home screen (e.g. toggle data, wifi, bluetooth, GPS). I rebooted and they disappeared. I tried to re-add them. I can't. I can add toggle widgets from the Android Market. I can't re-add the Motorola widgets, but also, the space where they should be is not available to add another widget either. i.e. I've now got a dead/unusable space on my home screen.

I have seen something with rooting, and I seen something about downloading an SDK and some java stuff, but that doesn't seem secure and a lot of work for something that should be simple if possible.
I don't want to have the phone plugged into a computer, but if I have to, I will. I do not own any docks or etc, otherwise this would be really simple I know.
I was disabling bloatware apps and accidently disabled the stock browser. How to do enable it since it disappears once disabled? Im sure its simple, but Im not having any luck.

We need to be able to disable all apps that is safe to do so. Cause the three that I mention here are running all the time and I don't even use them. I've stopped them and there already running again. At least make these 3 so that they can be disabled.

View 1 Replies View RelatedVerizon was making in JB was to remove their 'Verizon App' bloatware (in exchange for a boatload of Google bloatware). I had it disabled in ICS, but after the JB update (MAXX HD), not only is it still there, now it won't allow "Disable." It does allow a "Force Stop" if it's running, but no disable. The only real effect is take up a valuable icon spot on my app page, but since no one actually uses the Verizon app store, why even include it, much less put a firewall around it?

I am not to concerned about having 4g at this time, my primary use of my current Droid (D1) is so I can have my photo albums with me and organized the way i need them to be (that's why I will not get an Iphone) when I go to conventions as I need to be able to go through them with vendors. My current issue with the D1 is its slow response time when going through the albums and apps, how do you think the Razr is going to perform when dealing with photo albums and opening and closing pictures in a quick manor. The lagging is irritating when most of the vendors I deal with have Iphones and can go through the pictures a lot quicker then I can.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a few apps on my phone that can't locate the sd card. The most important of these (to me) are apps that are designed to read or import csv files and create little databases from the data.
All of them look for files on the sd card automatically and report that none are present (of course, I know they are because I put them there). One of them offers the option of searching for the files manually. When I do, instead of displaying the contents of my sd card, it displays the contents of my internal storage. I suspect that's where the apps that search automatically are looking as well.
I tried dismounting/remounting the sd card. Didn't work.
Yesterday I spoke to a second tier Motorola support agent. He tried various things by taking charge of my phone remotely, then did a factory reset. No joy. He said that in his opinion, the apps (all four of them) are at fault.
One of those apps worked perfectly under Gingerbread. I downloaded the other three when it stopped working after the ICS upgrade.
I had a similar problem with an mp3 player when it tried to automatically find the mp3 folder on my sd card. Did the same thing: examined the internal storage instead, even though I chose the option to search the external card. Fortunately, that app also had an option to search manually, and that function saw the sd card.
These data apps are very important to me. One developer said he's working on an Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade. The other developers haven't replied, though their sites claim that their products are compatible with Android 4.
Is this an operating system problem? A device problem? Is there a way to "tell" apps the path to your sd card? The names of the apps: Panacea Database, Sailforms, Memento, Collector.
If anyone else using a Razr Maxx running Ice Cream has found an app that can successfully import a csv file or read an mdb file (Microsoft Access) on the sd card
There are some apps on my Razor that I don't what or need . Is there anyway to delete them? I've already tried the normal way, it doesn't give the option to uninstall.

Suddenly I can't install apps not from Google Play. I have the setting checked to allow but when the app install window pops up the option to install does not do anything. I can look at all permissions and cancel but not install. I have tried several apps and all have the same result. I have tried from a download and from my app monster backup.

Does the razr have it partitioned so you can only use 2 gigs of internal space max for apps? If it does then I will pass on the Razr.
