Motorola Droid Razr :: How To Configure To Use External Memory
Dec 15, 2012
For some reason my pictures from my camera are now storing to the internal memory and not to my removable memory card and I don't know how to configure my phone so that it stores to the removable memory. How do you do that?
I just set up MotoCast, and it's pretty awesome (I had no idea, because I have been using doubletwist this whole time). I do have two questions about downloading music to the phone via MotoCast.1.) Is there a way to designate downloads to go to the External SD card instead of internal memory? It seems like it will only go to internal memory until you max it out and it gives you the option to move things to the external card. This seems like a silly step, couldn't it just go directly to the external card?2.) My music displays in playlists when streaming from my computer, but when I select download a playlist and disconnect from the computer (in a no-data environement) the playlist disappears and all of my music is just dumped into the app unoragnized. Is there a way to maintain the playlist after data is dropped and you can't access your computer?
Some of my apps have the ability to be moved to the SD card and when I do, they function fine. But if they are on my home (or secondary) screen the icons show up as generic when the phone is started.Sometimes the clear but most of the time they don't.
I have just 'upgraded' from my trusty DroidX to a Droid Razr Maxx HD (what a mouthful). The new device has a nice screen but (apart from the backside) the overall finish / design is nowhere near as elegant as the DroidX. Sigh.My question is this: on my old trusty DroidX the external SD card that came with the device was already pre-configured as the default location for all app data (I'm not talking about the app executables), the camera storage (/DCIM etc), music and my own files (text, excel, pdf etc). On the new Razr Maxx HD there is an internal 'SD Card' (how can an SD Card be 'internal'?!?) and this is the default location for all data files.
After some snooping around I found that the internal 'card' is at /mnt/sdcard and the external card is at /mnt/external1. How does Verizon/Motorola expect a consumer find out this or work with this information?Of course, I can go into camera settings to re-point the camera to store photos on the (real) external SD card. But the screen capture utility (power and volume down) still writes to the internal area - as does the Download capability (ie from email) - and as do all other apps for their 'data' files (remember, I'm not talking about the apps executable files here). Is there a simple way (for us non-rooted phones) to set the true external SD Card as the default destination for all data files? The current set-up is sooo frustrating. I can't just whip the SD card out of the phone and know all my data is in this one place.
I have looked through both email and gmail settings and cannot find how to set DL to my external SD card. I have had several PDF sent of manuals for Frequency Drives and they where stored on my internal. Not what I want.
How do I set my phone to use use my external SD card, 32 gig, for as much as possible so that I can try to use only what is mandatory on my internal storage? I have my camera set to use my external SD card I'm not sure how to set apps, downloads, music etc to use external. I'm assuming there is a recommendation that those of you who know more about using this phone than I that I should use?
Downloading music from Amazon MP3 app to my phone -- filled up the phone's internal memory. Is there an option to download data directly to my external SD card? I don't want to have to move all sorts of things, I just want the music to go to my SD card.
Recently; within the past week, my Maxx is intermittently loosing sound from the external speaker. I've tried rebooting, reinstalling the OS, etc... so I took to the internet: [URL]. Pressing on the kevlar cover works for a brief time; but when I am missing calls or notifications, its a little late to be pressing on the back cover to make the speaker connection. I dropped my phone when I first got it (March '12) so the warranty center is going to claim physical damage and charge me full retail for the phone. I can't go for much longer with a phone that doesn't ring.
The Motorola support page that tells you how to do a factory data reset gives two methods: Settings and External Keys. It also says that using the Settings method is preferable. Does anyone know why the Settings method is preferred? Is the outcome of both methods the same? The instructions (and user guide) say that the Settings method doesn't erase your external SD card, and will only erase internal storage if you choose to. Does the External Keys method work the same way? (I've used those key strokes to clear the data cache, but can't remember what the other choices are).
how can i save contacts on my phone rather than in a google account. Every time i create a new contact, it comes up at the top as Google Contact and when i create the contact it gets saved to google account. If i delete the google contact, all the contacts gets deleted too. I just want to save my contacts to my phone memory and not on google.
Both Motorola & Verzion list this phone as having 16gbs of internal memory. When I go to the storage settings it only shows 8gbs with now only 2gbs available. Using a third party file app called Astro it also confirms only 8gbs of internal storage space.
Does any one know how to configure Corporate Sync Notification for Inbox Sub-folders?
I have an exchange server where the mails are downloaded to outlook mail client, and i have created Rules and Alerts for my folders. I am able to Sync the folders in my phone but i dont notification for it.
How to install applications to external SD-card (not to internal storage - media area) ?Many modern games and geomapping apps have up to 1Gb cache each stored in internal storage. I've bought 16Gb SD card but it almost completely useless, because I cannot store anything but music and videos.Internal 8Gb storage is almost full.I think the problem is that internal storage mounted as mntsdcard , and external SD-card as mntsdcard-ext so applications are installed to sdcard not sdcard-ext, thats why my external SD-card is empty while internal storage is full
Has anyone experienced large memory usages for the multi-touch keyboard process? When I open the process the specific task that uses the large amount of memory is the "Admin Notifier"... Has anyone else seen the same? Is this normal?
I dock my Razr HD (JB 4.1.2) to my genuine Motorola car dock, my music will automatically route to the car speakers, which is what I want but for incoming and outgoing calls the audio goes to the phones external speaker by default. I can touch the speaker button that then routes the audio to the car speakers but how do I make call audio route to the car speakers by default and not the phones external speaker?
I purchased the Moto Elite Sliver because my Plantronics Pro HD would drop its bluetooth every single time a call was answered or placed. I did a little research and found it may be related to a conflict with the 2.0 headset and 4.0 phone. Moto Sliver is BT 3.0 and was working great until this week. Now every single time a call is disconnected, the headset disconnects and reconnects. Reboots galore, problem still exists. Uninstall/reinstall Motospeak, problem still exists. Sometimes the bluetooth will not connect at all (reboot required). The Droid RAZR Maxx and the Elite Sliver are supposed to be state of the art MOTOROLA, I make a living with my phone and headset.
I've tried to connect an external microphone so I can use my Droid 4 to record high quality video podcasts, but the video apps don't appear to allow input from anything other than the internal microphone. Even a bluetooth microphone. Other droids allow allow high quality microphones. The microphone adapters that work on the Samsung Droid Charge (and the iphone) don't work on Droid 4. It appears to have a different microphone wiring configuration.
Is it just me or is the external speaker weak on the bionic? I used to have a D1 original Droid which had a great speaker. It seems the one on the bionic is Not as good of quality or as loud.
I recently bought a 32 gig class 10 micro SDHD card for my Bionic. I removed the 16 gig, copied the contents to my PC then copied them all to the 32 gig. When I go to Settings>Storage it shows that I have 30 gig, but I have moved some apps to it without issue and then I got an "insufficient space" message. I tried running a rescan SD app, rebooting phone, etc, but it still only allows me to put 16 gig on my 32 gig card.
I just got the droid turbo yesterday. I am trying to download my pics from my old phone with a Transcend RDP9 card reader but it is not being recognized. Nothing happens when I plug it in. The light on the reader comes on but nothing on the phone.
On day two of owning my X2 I got a error when it tried to read the external SD card. I called Verizon and they had me format it on my laptop. I did this and then reloaded my 4 gig of music back to it. Yesterday evening it did it again and now Verizon is sending me a new card. In the mean time I am using a 1 gig card that I had left over from my Storm. The first thing I noticed is when I transfered the music from my laptop to the 1 gig sd card via a card reader the transfer rate was near 6 meg. When I transfered my music to the card that is bad the transfer rate never got about 2.5 meg. I now notice after listening to music for the last 4 hours at work it never skipped at all. I had very frequent skipping with the original card. Another thing I noticed is the phone doesn't lag at all when I am listening to music.
When I have my Bionic set to CDMA/LTE and I am around an external pair of speakers i.e computer speakers, stereo spakers, or even my alarm clock I get very loud audio distortion and feedback from the speakers, and it changes depending on where I am in relation to the speakers. When I am on CDMA only there is no distortion? and NOT netflix...
Is anyone else having an issue where their external sound (ringtones, navigation, music, etc) gets distorted and digitized occasionally? It seems completely random and I asked around when I first got my bionic and no one had heard of the issue so I went to verizon and they exchanged the phone for a new one even though they couldn't reproduce it because it's so intermittent but the new one has the same problem.
I want to use an external hard drive that has contents that I want to be able to view on my samsung galaxy tablet or my motorola droid turbo. How can I do this without rooting them? If I have to root is there a guide that is easy to follow for both devices. I have the proper connection type usb connector.
