Motorola Droid Razr HD :: Bluetooth Keyboard Restarts It
Nov 6, 2012
I purchased the Motorola Full Size Wireless Keyboard (model:89451N) to use with my Droid Razr Maxx Hd to make texting and sending emails easier. The problem is that when conneting keyboard to phone the phone will restart 4 out of 5 times. Once the phone has rebooted it is connected but this is becoming very frustrating. This is the only wireless keyboard that I've tried but I hoped to have little compatability issues being that both handset and keyboard are made by Motorola.
I purchased a Targus Bluetooth Wireless Keyboard (has the Android logo and claims compatibility). It paired and connected without any issues and works with all of the apps that I have tried (gmail, text client, Docs To Go, etc.). It also works with Webtop apps, including Citrix (which is why I needed the keyboard). The problem is that when the keyboard is connected, Webtop will randomly crash and re-start (Motorola logo appears and Webtop re-initializes). I have tried this many times, with and without the keyboard and it is definitely related to having the keyboard connected. Sometimes it will crash right away, while other times it will last 2 or 3 mins. It always fails with 5 mins.
I have tried it using 4G (mine will go to 3G at times due to my area) only (WIFI off) and did not effect the crashing (though WIFI does seem to have conflicts with Bluetooth being on).Has anyone successfully had a Bluetooth keyboard work? Is there a setting I am missing?
I've had this razr maxx hd just beyond the verizon "no worry" 14 day period and now its turning off and restarting on its own. It seems to hapen if Im texting and an email comes in but not totally certain. Is this something I'm just going to have to deal with until 4. comes out and hope JB doesnt hav the same issue? Verizon will replace it but with a refurb...Lets see..I bought it btand new 17 days ago, and they want to replace it with a refurbished phone
I wanted to test booting into safe mode so I followed the directions here. I did get the "safe mode" in the lower left hand corner of the screen. But soon after that it restarted by itself and started back up in normal mode. I tried that 3 time and the same thing happened.
Since the update to ICS I've noticed when I stream audio via Bluetooth from my Bionic that the phone randomly will restart. I have tried three different bluetooth devices (S9-HD, S10-HD, and a bluetooth speaker) and multiple audio apps including but not limited to AmazonMP3, Google Music, and a voice recorder app I use.
It does this spuratily. I can listen for days to something and then it does it and sometimes it even does it over and over again. As an example a few hours ago it did it and then when I resumed listening it did less than 5 mins later. So far it hasn't done it a third time.
I didn't have this issue under Gingerbread.
What I've done:
- Cleared Cache in all audio apps and system recovery
- Tried different versions of music apps
- Factory Reset
- Repaired BT devices
- Formatted both internal and external memory
Is this an ICS bug or did something freaky happen to my Bionic during the update from 2.3 to 4.0?
I purchased the Moto Elite Sliver because my Plantronics Pro HD would drop its bluetooth every single time a call was answered or placed. I did a little research and found it may be related to a conflict with the 2.0 headset and 4.0 phone. Moto Sliver is BT 3.0 and was working great until this week. Now every single time a call is disconnected, the headset disconnects and reconnects. Reboots galore, problem still exists. Uninstall/reinstall Motospeak, problem still exists. Sometimes the bluetooth will not connect at all (reboot required). The Droid RAZR Maxx and the Elite Sliver are supposed to be state of the art MOTOROLA, I make a living with my phone and headset.
Me and my wife both have the MAXX. My wife has recently experienced a bug with the stock Keyboard where it will phase in on top of her screen with out the keys (No letters) for no reason. She noticed it a few weeks ago and because it only happened once or twice thought nothing of it. Recently it has gotten progressively worse and seems to act up the most when her phone is in the Dock(Desk Top). She has not DL any Keyboard APs or any none market APs.
There's a notification that pops up whenever the keyboard is open. Selecting it lets me switch input methods. Has anybody found a way to make this notification go away for good?
From the documentation the Razr is supposed to support USB Host out of the box and allow connectivity of USB devices that do not require special drivers.Specifically mentioned were USB keyboards - which is the sole reason I purchsed the Razr over the Galaxy. I have a standard USB to micro USB adapter that I've used to connect to the phone. However, the input is not recognized. How do I go about connecting a USB keyboard to the Razr so that the input is recognized
My Razr Maxx was updated to ICS this week. After the upgrade, my keys on the keyboard are about half the size they were before. It takes me 3-4 times as long to compose a text or e-mail because it is almost impossible to hit the right key or not hit two at the same time. there any way to get my old keyboard back? It was easy to use. What were the programmers thinking when they downsized an already small keyboard?
I was just wondering how can I get the Voice to text Mic on the keyboard to input words or type with out touching the screen, so far I can only use the feature via pressing the search Icon on the bottom right of the phone.
I just bought a Razr Maxx and tried to type something in all-caps but hitting the shift key twice brought it back to lowercase. I noticed it's using Motorola's keyboard... and is conspicuously absent of the default Ice Cream Sandwich keyboard (I don't like Swype). Is it possible to get caps lock back or do I have to download one of the Ice Cream Sandwich keyboards in the market?
The update to ICS has added some annoying notifications that I would like to turn off, if anybody knows how. I included a screen shot showing them.
Anytime the keyboard is up, there is a notification asking if I want to change input methods Whenever GPS is on, it adds another notification that does nothing more than take me to GPS settings
Does anybody know how to turn either of these off? I would like to keep my notifications as clutter-free as possible.
Before I had the Vehicle Navigation Dock, when I turned on navigation and the radio was on, the turn by turn voice went through the car radio. If the radio was off, it played through the phone speaker. Now that I have the dock, if Bluetooth is active, the voice doesn't play at all. I have to turn Bluetooth off in the phone to hear the turn by turn. This isn't optimal because then I can't use the phone over bluetooth. Is there a setting to have the voice always go over the phone speaker?
My razr connects to my car but will not download the phone book to the car. I have a original motorola droid and a htc thunderbolt and the worked fine.
Has anyone had difficulties or successes with Bluetooth tethering their RAZR or MAXX to a Xoom or other Android tablet? I have been unable to get mine to connect with each other. They recognize each other immediately, pair without issue but just won't connect.
If you've been successful in connecting them, how have you made it happen? Any difficulties or tricks you used to get them to connect?
Since the upgrade to ICS, my Droid Razr won't connect with the factory installed bluetooth in my 2008 Nissan Sentra. It worked perfectly before the upgrade but now nothing. It pairs and when I call using the steering wheel controls it turns on the phone with the correct person and calls them. However, you can't hear the phone ringing in the speaker and if/when the person answers you can't hear them. I was excited to get the upgrade but my car bluetooth is more important to me. Everything else works great but the bluetooth is a major safety issue for me as I drive a great deal. Does anyone know how to fix this or is there a way to undo the upgrade?
For some reason, I have 2 constant issues with my razr. My keyboard force closes constantly. And I get frequent homescreen bugs where the apps are not perfectly aligned.
I have a RAZR MAXX HD with a bluetooth issue from the start. When in my car the bluetooth disconnects every one minute, reconnects immediately and stays on for about two minutes. Then again disconnects, reconnects, stays on for one minute, then disconnects. So the bluetooth is totally useless. It it illegal to talk on a phone in a car without handsfree in our state, so I have a MOBILE phone that won't work while being MOBILE.
When this happens it also disconnects service to the 3.5mm jack, so I have to make sure the Bluetooth is turned off. But when I plug it in the charge and then disconnect to leave in the morning, the bluetooth is turned back on. I'm spending more time resetting stuff on this phone. I've never had such a buggy phone. I've tried turning off Wi-Fi. The car is a 2010 Genisis, which with the old Droid phone worked perfect.
When streaming music to my aftermarket Alpine car stereo via bluetooth I constantly get 1/2 second drops in sound. It is intermittant but happens with almost every song, sometimes 1 or 2 times per song, sometimes up to 5 or 6 times, and some songs it doesn't happen at all. It does it while streaming through Napster or through downloaded music on the stock player, so that doesn't seem to be the issue. At first I thought it could be a loss of 3g or 4g signal or the Razr searching for the signal but it has happened in both 3g and 4g coverage area. So today I thought I would check it while stopped in a parking lot, and it continued to happen, I'm still in a 3g area til Dec. but thought the phone could be searching for a signal causing the drop of sound so I disconnected from bluetooth and the problem goes away, so I'm pretty convinced it is a bluetooth issue, I did not have this problem with my DX, so I do not believe it's an issue with my car stereo'e bluetooth adapter. I do not have any issues with phone calls but do have an issue with connecting to my bluetooth unit sometimes. In the settings it says paired but not connected until I click on the setting then it connects. Also, this does not happen while listening at home through the speakers or headphones whether I'm streaming or downloading via 3g or wifi.
Maybe I am trying to do something impossible, but I would like to pair my Droid Razr with my Xoom FE using Bluetooth. They successfully pair but will not connect. I basicaly want to share my phone's data without paying for the wifi hotspot or rooting the phone.
have a problem with weak bluetooth audio sound? I have the LG HBS-700 bluetooth headset and audio was very full and rich with my Samsung Charge. However, when connected to my Razr, the audio lacks in fullness and bass... In the audio effects option, there is only Phone Speaker and Wired Stereo Devices...
I've been having some trouble with my bluetooth headphones. Usually they work very well, I can listen to music and also make calls with them, but once in a while I will encounter a problem, when I answer a call, it will be completely mute. If I turn the headphone off, it will still be off. Even if I hang up the call, then my phone will now be completely mute (I can't even listen to music anymore). So I reset, and then my phone is back to normal.
New Razr Maxx and Plantronics Explorer 240 Bluetooth earpiece will not pair. The phone sees the device, asks for the 0000 but gives a pairing error as the wrong code.Plantronics tells me they only hardcode 0000 (zeros) into the headset and the phone says it is the wrong code.
I have a new installation of Windows 7 on a new computer and am having a difficult time connecting to my phone by either USB or by Bluetooth FTP Service. It appears that I can connect correctly to the Bluetooth Audio Services, but as I cannot get any music onto my phone I am having a hard time testing it.On Bluetooth installation I had two devices that were not installed correctly. Through trial and error I discovered that these two devices are related to the Generic Access Service and the Generic Attributes Service, both of which I have disabled on my Win7 Bluetooth phone properties.
I HAVE installed Motorola Device Manager with no success resolving. In fact, I cannot see where MDM is even accessible on my system: no system tray icon, no start menu link, etc.I'm new to the forum so I'm not sure if my image upload will work correctly, but in essence the phone Operation Panel in Win7 shows the FTP Service as active but clicking the Browse button does nothing. I do get a prompt on my phone initially asking for permision for my computer to access the phone, but then nothing.
On my Wife's droid razr, every time the phone boots up, blue tooth starts up. It seems to start up right after the phone starts up my wifi. There are no smart action running that should cause the blue tooth to start up. If doesn't automatically start up on my razr, only on my wife's phone. Even when I turn off blue tooth before I shut down the phone, it still starts up on restarting the phone.
My Razr is able to send each file to my other phone (Samsung S2) with bluetooth but it isn't able to receive any files: infact, the device results "paired but no connected" and refuses each kind of file. I turned off both devices and I turned on again, I paired again both phones but the problem persists: Razr sends files but doesn't receive them.No problem with my bluetooth headset.
