Motorola Droid Razr :: Webtop And Bluetooth Keyboard Crashes Webtop?
Nov 22, 2011
I purchased a Targus Bluetooth Wireless Keyboard (has the Android logo and claims compatibility). It paired and connected without any issues and works with all of the apps that I have tried (gmail, text client, Docs To Go, etc.). It also works with Webtop apps, including Citrix (which is why I needed the keyboard). The problem is that when the keyboard is connected, Webtop will randomly crash and re-start (Motorola logo appears and Webtop re-initializes). I have tried this many times, with and without the keyboard and it is definitely related to having the keyboard connected. Sometimes it will crash right away, while other times it will last 2 or 3 mins. It always fails with 5 mins.
I have tried it using 4G (mine will go to 3G at times due to my area) only (WIFI off) and did not effect the crashing (though WIFI does seem to have conflicts with Bluetooth being on).Has anyone successfully had a Bluetooth keyboard work? Is there a setting I am missing?
I recently bought the Webtop travel adapter for use with my VZW Droid RAZR and 1080p TV. I have a probelm with the Status Bar atop the display. About once per second it will disappear and then a second later reappear. If a window is maximized, it will be resized back/forth. It is truly annoying. It is happening with multiple TV's so it's not an HDMI issue. During the time the Status Bar is visible, nothing within it is clickable. I am speculating that it is loading then crashing then loading again but never fully initalizes to where anything is clickable and the service is caught in a restart loop.
Fireforx and the mobile view both work just fine on their own so long as they don't cross into the status bar area and their windows will get bumped up/down as it appears/disappears. I had considered a lapdock but can't justify the money, especially if it doesn't work properly. I'll try using aLogcat to see if I can glean anything form it and ship some logs off to Moto support.
I was under the assumption that the webtop app would automatically appear when I purchased and used the hd dock station but it doesn't. The only features that appear are office, bedside, my music, and charge only. I spoke to someone at the verizon store and they told me to purchase the webtop adapter. Well, I received this in the mail today and all my anticipation went down the drain when it did nothingAbsolutely no features pop up so I have no idea what this was for. All I want is to be able to mirror whats on my phone onto my laptop.
How do I get the latest Citrix Receiver installed on my webtop? I have updated the citrix receiver on the phone via the market and it works fine with our corporate Citrix server. But the webtop appears to be a different install of the receiver and it does not work with our Citrix servers. When starting the application the receiver modal appears the windows start song plays then it just goes away.
I just got my laptop dock and love it. I was reading the online guideand saw the about adding web apps to the dock compared to adding a bookmark to the dock from this page: http://www.motorola.com/hc/5871/global/wt/en-us/help.aspx?id=d1e89 in the Using Web Apps sectionI don't know if it has changed since Gingerbread came out but when I try to add an app/bookmark to the dock there is no option to set it as a web app or bookmark seems they all get added as bookmarks.
Whenever I try and run Netflix when docked in the Lapdock 500 I can start and view video, but when I try and go back to my Netflix queue my phone reboots. This has happened to me everytime I have tried it. I love the lapdock and would love to reliably be able to use it to view Netflix content, but this issue makes that very difficult.
Using the Netflix app, going full screen makes movies very laggy. I also notice going full screen causing game emulator apps to lag real bad as well. Is there any way to stop the full screen lag without watching everything in a tiny window?
But atrix users still use Jaunty with Firefox .what i concern is the low memory for web top make me crazy.i have both Lap dock and HD dock. but crash frequently.
I have the Motorola BT keyboard with mousepad, Photon, and HD dock.Keyboard and mouse pointer work fine when phone is in the mode mirroring the phone display, but when in Webtop, only the mousepad works. None of the other keys function. That is, I can go to text messaging with the mouse, but when I get there, can't type anything. Can go to the google search section, and get the flashing cursor, but can't type anything.
I searched for an answer but couldn't find one. I prefer docs to go over quickoffice but firefox in webtop mode never asks but open docs in quickoffice in phone window. Is there a way to default to docs to go in webtop mode? BTW, is there a way to open docs to go in webtop mode
My problem is I cannot use any keyboard in Webtop mode.I have an MB855 Photon 4G with the HD Dock and a Motorola keyboard w/trackpad.I can connect to the dock fine and open the Webtop application, shows up on my TV and looks dandy. Then I turn on Bluetooth and pair the keyboard (Motorola 89507 wireless keyboard with trackpad) with the phone. It requests a numeric code which I enter on the keyboard and hit enter- presto. Now the screen on the phone changes to a clock and I can control the cursor through the trackpad on the keyboard. BUT no matter what I do the keyboard will not type letters. No keys on the keyboard appear to have any functionality. At this point I undocked the phone, then the keyboard works fine!Plug it back into the dock and -whoop- right back to no keyboard. At this point I decided to try my Logitech mouse & keyboard. I plugged in a Logitech unifying receiver into the back of the HD Dock and the screen flashed- but nothing else.
My lapdock lapdock keyboard goes weird. The d escape key, control key, and several other keys that seem to be involved in the F5 key combination go dead.I have learned to trick it. I do FN-F5 and hit escape and keep hitting the combinations until escape works, then hit control-alt-d which seems to clear the issue. Is there anything I can do to stop it from going into this crazy mode.
I would very much like to purchase an HD Station or better yet, the Lapdock 100 for my Photon 4G. However, I type in the Dvorak keyboard layout which I would require for either of those two solutions to work. I know that Dvorak keyboards exist and those would likely work with the HD Station since no setting changes are required. However, in the case of the Lapdock if a setting somewhere on the software doesn't allow the layout to be changed I'll have to stick with my iPad and bluetooth keyboard
My razr does not charge when on the lapdock 100 and the dock is not pluged it.Is that normal? When I had my Bionic and it was on the lapdock it would drain the lapdock battery but charge the phone.
However, recently, when I switched on my phone, it switched to Webtop mode, even though it wasn't connected to my dock nor to any HDMI cable. This happens every time I switch my phone on, and has been happening for a week now. The only workaround I've been able to find is to go to the Display menu, check and uncheck the "Enable HDMI cable detection". It works perfectly fine after that.
Whenever my Atrix is in the car dock when I'm on a phone call, the bluetooth will disconnect and the phone speaker comes on. It intermittently will reconnect/disconnect bouncing between the car speakers and the phone speaker. I've tried using another car dock, another USB cable and 3 different USB car chargers.
Music works fine on the bluetooth but once I take a phone call is when all the troubles start.
I frequently use logmein & firefox with my lapdock 100. (Bionic)I understand that Webtop3.0 has done away with firefox. Has any Razr (ics upgraded Webtop 3.0) owner tried using logmein.com & lapdock for PC remote control?
Will the next version of the Droid Bionic OS (Jelly Bean) have webtop support? I'm considering purchasing a lapdock, but I'll hold off if the next version (which is promised within the coming months) doesnt support the webtop application. I'm hoping they will atleast add in webtop 3.0 which is currently on ICS, but I'm not sure if thats compatible or doable.
I bought the Lapdock with my Bionic and got it all home let everything get charged up and started to try to use the Lapdock. I get 3-4 Firefox pages up and going and I keep getting a Low Memory error and it wants me to close app's I don't really have many things running but the Bionic indicates that 69% of the memory is in use on the droid and a few percentage for webtop firefox. I can't seem to kill off enough things to keep the error from popping up.
I purchased the Motorola Full Size Wireless Keyboard (model:89451N) to use with my Droid Razr Maxx Hd to make texting and sending emails easier. The problem is that when conneting keyboard to phone the phone will restart 4 out of 5 times. Once the phone has rebooted it is connected but this is becoming very frustrating. This is the only wireless keyboard that I've tried but I hoped to have little compatability issues being that both handset and keyboard are made by Motorola.
After using webtop and pulling the phone out of the dock, my phone consistently reboots. It's quite annoying and feels like the phone is being damaged.
I tried registering and I get a message that my serial number can't be found in the system. Its a 15 digit alpha numberic number on the back of the lapdock, then some space and 4 numbers. The field only let's me put in the 15, not the 4.
I have not been able to get the webtop to launch. I am using a Motorola multi-media HD dock to connect to my HDTV. All of the support pages show using an app called "Motorola Webtop." The only app on my phone is named "Webtop Connector". When I launch it there is a red/white Motorola logo that comes up on the TV screen but nothing else happens. The phone displays No webtop web pages to resume. and No webtop bookmarks.
1. When connected directly to HDMI port (using any of the modes ..ie. mirror, gallery..) if I unplug it, the screen will not time out.
If I go into the settings and switch to another time length..back out to Home and then switch it back to my original timeout setting and backout to Home..The screen will time out properly.
2. If connected to the Webtop Adapter and I'm in Webtop mode and just unplug the adapter, the screen will not timeout. My above fix does not work either...BUT..
If I go from WebTop mode to say, Mirror Mode and then Unplug the adapter..and then apply my fix above..the screen will time out.
I wanted to verify this was another part of the disabled functionality of Webtop 3.0 vs. 2.0. In 2.0 there was a Settings button for the lapdock that allowed the touchpad's sensitivity to be adjusted. In Webtop 3.0 the only settings adjustment I can find takes me to the phone's Settings which has no category allowing for touchpad sensitivity adjustment. A quick chat with a Motorola "support" person online here suggested there was no longer such an adjustment available, and that they didn't work for Motorola, but would "pass my comment along" to them.
When connecting my Atrix 4G to my lapdock, (which I just received today), I get the picker on my phone, which indicates that only HDMI is being seen by the dock, and no USB. I have no aftermarket cover on my phone, have tried removing the Motorola battery cover from the phone and fit plate from the lapdock to get a better USB connection, but just can't get a USB connection, or so it seems. I know when I plug the phone in and open the lapdock it should just go right to Webtop, but I get the red M screensaver till I select an option on the phone. The when I select Webtop I get the touchpad on the phone which works. Also get no audio from the lapdock speakers if I play music, but when I unplug the phone the music starts playing from the phone speaker. One time out of many, maybe 50+ now, I saw a USB devices detected message on the lapdock screen, but only the one time.
I had an issue yesterday when using the WebTop. Firefox became completely unresponsive when browsing this forum. I was able to close the app by clicking the X at the top right. WebTop continued to work, and if i loaded a link defined as a web app it worked, but if i tried to load Firefox or a link defined as a bookmark i got an error message indicating the Firefox was already running and had to be closed.
It occurred to me that there was no WebTop task manager that I could use to Force Close a process. I tried a few things including force closing the WebTop connector in Mobile View but nothing worked. I ultimately had to reboot the phone to get it operational again.
I recently got a lapdock for my Atrix. After using firefox for 10+ minutes the webtop freezes: the cursor is non-responsive and no response from key presses either. The frozen cursor occurs for both the touchpad and when a mouse is connected. How should I debug this problem? I am on the stock 4.5.141 build and rooted (to install Swype). No other root related changes.I am using the incipio feather case. When I undock the frozen webtop the phone is working fine. I can dock again to get a working webtop...not an ideal solution though.
More than a month ago my Razr Maxx upgraded to ICS and converted my Lapdock 500 from a machine I could use for business to a poorly functioning keyboard and magnifying glass for my phone. Motorola's support site still has NO support documents for Webtop 3.0. The support site still has all documentation for 2.0 - describing how to use Firefox, file manager, etc - all the functionality that I lost. WHY is there not even any support for 3.0?
Update: Webtop works fine on my LapDock but will not start (i.e. will not give the menu item) on the HD Dock. This has only been the case since the latest upgrade.I have not been able to use my dock since the latest update - Webtop is not on the selection list when inserted.
