Motorola Droid Razr :: Flash Video Fullscreen Since ICS?
Jul 1, 2012
since ics i can no longer control flash video on the web (sites like blip.tv). the video plays fine but i can't full screen it nor can i access the video controls (pause, stop, position)on the web, when you go to you tube, the video has controls at the bottom (play/pause, volume, and the status bar showing where you are in the clip) and when you full screen it, they're still there. on gb when you went to a flash video and hit play, the video would automatically full screen with the status bar on the bottom (status bar being the time counter showing how much you've played, what is left and your position.) on ics now when you play a video it simply plays on the page with no access to the controls or the ability to full screen the clip.
with Internet i obviously have an app but with web content (news, and blip.tv) it not possible as far as i can tell. sometimes i wanna pause and fast forward or rewind and that ability is now gone.lip.tv is the big one for me, i watch a lot on there. but when i go there now on my phone, chrome won't play at all and the stock brower shows the little cinema logo. when i click the logo, the video plays fine but small and still embedded in the web page. i can't pause or stop without leaving the page, i can't fast forward or rewind and i have have no time counter to know my video position. it's extremely frustrating. and double-tapping does nothing. on gingerbread this was simply automatic. you hit play and it goes fullscreen, you have the video position bar at the bottom (slider that let's you ff or rewind) and a ply/pause button. they would disappear after while and come back with a tap
Whenever I play a flash video and make it fullscreen it stutters. It's fine if I zoom the browser so that the video covers the entire screen.I tried both Dolphin HD 6.1.0 and the stock browser using flashplayer 10.3.186.3. And I'm on Gingerbread 2.3.4
How can i uninstall adobe flash from my razr maxx? I don't want it be because it eats up memory, increases data usage, slows down web pages, has security holes. Many web sites work better without flash.
I am not at all happy with ICS. To me, the upgrade to ICS is a nothing more than a bunch of pretty colors and a few new animations. In actuality, however, I think that the upgrade delivered little in terms of improvements. In fact, I wish I could undo the upgrade and go back two weeks, to a time in which I felt the Razr Maxx was virtually flawless and was the best phone I ever had.Elsewhere in this owner's forum I have written about the way in which business contact names are now scrambeled in the contact list. Others are having problems with battery life, overheating, poor navigation, etc. However, the biggest failure of the ICS upgrade, as I see it, is the loss of the ability to view Flash encoded videos in either the native browser or in Dolphin.
With all of the hype about the upcoming release of ICS, why didn't anyone warn the customers that Flash would no longer work with ICS and that this upgrade would essentially hobble their device? Motorola did mention this fact buried in a pre-release notification, but it was easily missed:Due to Adobe's discontinuation of Flash development, Flash Player is no longer preloaded and is not available for download from Google Play to this device. Existing installations of Flash Player may or may not play Flash video properly. Alternatively, the new HTML5 standard is supported for Web video.
I know ...Adobe is pulling Flash Support from Android devices, BUT since all the other 4.0.3 and 4.0.4 Devices i tried work with flash i think its something motorola could fix (With help from Adobe maybe).bout the Problem:Every ICS Version (Even the new "leaked" EU versions...) for the RAZR has working Flash Buttons/Menues ect. but embedded Videos don't work (Check for yourself on southpark.com or ESPN). The Videos Buffer/Load but the screen stays black...maybe some hardware acceleration thingy.Flash does work on Samsungs SIII and the Nexus...as well as some 4.0.3 Tablets i tried.Since the Nexus has about the same hardware (cpu/gpu) as the razr there must be something wrong on the motorola part.Oh, and about flash: Latest Version from the market ! Same on the other devices.
Does anyone have any ideas about why Moto might have decided to kill Flash on our phones before it was necessary? It's not an ICS thing, because my GNex still has Flash and it works well. I know that Adobe will not be allowing new downloads from the Play Store starting on 8/15 (but they will still be providing bug fixes for those who already have it) & that Flash Player is not supported in Jelly Bean, but what gives with Moto killing Flash in our ICS update? Now, whenever I visit a page that has an embedded Flash video in the browser, it crashes the browser. :(
Addl. details: Basically, when you upgrade, the Adobe Flash Player app gets uninstalled from your phone. If you reinstall it from the Play Store, it won't work for embedded videos on websites. Unfortunately, many websites still use Flash for their embedded videos. :( Hopefully websites will start switching over to HTML5. This isn't just a bug.. there is an actual process running on the phone called FlashRemoval that Moto slapped in there. I expect to get Jelly Bean ASAP, since Moto prepared the phone for not having Flash so early. ;)
Upgraded three family DX's this weekend to the RAZR MAXX's and so far pretty pleased. My wife's phone has an interesting "feature?" which I haven't been able to figure how to turn off. When she has an unread email (either GMAIL or or local internet provider mail) periodicaly when the screen is locked and off the screen will turn on for a second and then turn off like a reminder notification. Obviously a battery killer. I've looked through all the reminder features including the add-on we use "Light Flow Lite" which we use for missed calls and cannot find where to turn this off.
I am stuck in fastboot after the phone went dead. It says:
Invalid flash mode (s) (root failure) 0a.74 eMMC info:size 16g To return to normal mode - first press power key to power down Device is Locked. Status code: 0
Battery low Cannot program Transfer mode: USB connected

Since the M does not have an HDMI port nor support MHL, I was just pondering another alternative. My televisions are not DLNA compatible and I really don't care about HD quality, so I was wondering if the 3.5 port was an option for basic video out. I know some devices used to have a compatible adapter for this process, but thought maybe it was terminated because of new technology. In most phones the 3.5 seems to only be an audio port, but just figured I'd ask.
I want to see the labels of the videos and pix's when I go to My Gallery. All I get on the videos is a picture frame with a big Play button in the middle. I want to see a label of the video and the picture when i open the My Galley, how can I get this done.
been meaning to look into this for the longest time. i know that our providers must compress our media messages for speed and size. i'm not overly stressed about photo compression, but video i wonder about. where can i find the best info on which resolution is the happy medium between quality and posting speed? i know at full hd that Internet is gonna take quite some time and that g+ doesn't compress either, but video messaging always compresses even when i go down to vga and so. also, i'm always asked to resize the video but i have only 2 options, qcif and qvga. those are my specific questions, but if there is a site with answers to a myriad of other concerns related to media compression and posting i'd love to see it.
Since ICS, which i just noticed recently, my razr won't let me attach a video file to an email. I realize the file has to be less than 25mb which they have been. The phone keeps saying "file size exceeded" Can someone out there tell me how to get videos attached to an email?
When ever I try to play a video on a site called worlstarhiphop my RAZR maxx does not play the video. A friend of mine owns a tablet and his tablet plays the videos on that site his tablet opens the video player to play the video but my DROID RAZR maxx doesnt do anything do I need flash player to play the videos or my phone just can't play the videos on that site.
I'm having a big problem recording video with the Motorola DROID RAZR.I can record about 1-2 minuts and then it freezes.I notice that is seems some audio is still being recorded (as I can hear it on the playback), but the video just locks up.Also, I notice that it boots me out of the camera and back to the home screen.I've tried recording when saving to the micro-card or internal. Both ways are still ineffective. Also, I've noticed that sometimes, when call are coming in, the screen is unresponsive and cannot pick-up the call. I'm not sure if this is related, but I thought I would mention here anyway.
Just got my phone yesterday but there appears to be no support for video Skype. Does anyone know if this is to force you to use Google Talk or will Skype eventually be working with RAZR.
I was running short of space on my MicroSDHC card. I had about 1.5 gigs of storage left on the card. I went to take a video and noticed that I could only take a video in DVD quality or worse. There was no longer an option to take video in 780p or HD+ (1080p). I thought that happened because I didn't have much space left on my SD card. I later purchased a 32G Sandisk MicroSDHC. I thought that I would get back my HD and HD+ video options back after I installed the new card. This did not happen. I no longer can take HD+ video anymore. My settings in the video record mode no longer list HDor HD+. how to get the HD settings back? I tried clearing the cache and data in the camera app, but that didn't help.
I came across a largely unpublished spec on Motodev, which is that the Razr can not only capture 1080p at 30fps but also 480p at 120fps. Link:[URL] how to actually achieve this video capture mode. A Motorola live chat rep just told me to check out these forums. Basically I'm wondering if driver support exists to the point that apps can take advantage of the functionality immediately, or if the ICS update might address this, or if it is being swept under the rug indefinitely.
i have a couple of video players on phone.I use to have the option of which one to choose.now videos always start with default player. How can I change this setting
I am trying to find out which of the follwing uses the most data or if it is the same: Watching a sporting event on the app Watch ESPN on the phone or using the phone as a hot spot and viweing the event on my laptop?
What is the size limitation for these attachments? I recorded a 23 second clip in MMS mode which totaled 368KB. It won't go. I had one rep. tell me the limit was 15 seconds regardless of size. I thought I had read on VZ site it was 500K but may have dreamed that.
Or is it neither size or length but something else? And finally is it the same for GMail?
I just purchased a DROID RAZR. I have installed the desktop client on two different machines. I can view pictures and listen to music but when I try to play any video format I receive the following error:
Error during video playback
MotoCast was not able to playback this file; it might not be in a supported format.
I tried to download several files to test them on the phone's storage, but I am also unable to download any video using MotoCast. I can download pictures and documents. I have tried doing these operations through the Gallery app, as well as just browsing using the directory structure.
I've had ice cream sandwich for about two weeks. Since then I can't stream video when I'm in desktop mode. Android mode is very limited. I called verizon, they called motorola. Motorola said streaming is no longer supported on desktop mode with ICS. The crappy part is she could not report the problem, I was to explain my problem on this forum so the software poeaple could read this. I've got better things to do than registering for a forum so someone might read this and get streaming back. Not a happy camper with ICS.
My issue is this, I cannot "fast forward" a video during playback. I can select a "fast forward" spot in the video using the slider or control panel but as soon as I let go it reverts back to where it was before (usually the beginning). The really weird part is when I download a player app it initially works, it did this trying RockPlayer, GeekVideo, BSPlayer and others, but as soon as I exit and re-start the apps they revert back to this behavior. My videos are 2.5 hours long and I need the ability to start, and re-start them at differnt points.
I tried MoboPlayer and it behaved the same. I noticed that the file type that does not work is the .WMV, the .MP4's work as they should.
Is this an issue with 2.3.6 that would be fixed if I go back to 2.3.5? I did not see any posts on the internet about this specific issue so I am confused. I received my RAZR MAXX a few days ago. I did the OTA update to 2.3.6 before checking this issue on 2.3.5.I am not rooted or modified in any way.I do not have this problem with the same applications with .WMV files on my old DX running GB 2.3.3 or my tablet running HC 3.2.1
I'm unable to take a portrait photograph or video on my Razr. If I hold it in portrait mode, the icons don't rotate like they do on the Galaxy Nexus, there's no option to set it to portrait mode, and every picture ends up in landscape. Even if I disable Auto Rotate, they're all in landscape. This is a real pain in the butt because sometimes I need more detail on something that is taller than it is wide but I have to settle for the extra space of landscape. The Galaxy Nexus and Droid Bionic allow portrait photographs and video, why doesn't the Razr.
i keep my phone in portrait mode but whenever a video plays (except in the Internet app) it switches to landscape and i see no option to use portrait anywhere. how do i get it to just go with whatever orientation i'm in? the iphone does this just fine.
I want to know when will motorola razr be released in india ?I'am currently using xt720 and also fire xt. Though both have shortcomings like xt720 does not have official froyo/gingerbreadand hence cannot move apps to flash and view flash based websites and though fire xt is gingerbread i could not view flash based sitesas it is powered by a armv6 processor. Inspite of these i'am addicted to motorola phones because of thier excellent sound quality particularly
