View 3 RepliesI recently upgraded from a Droid2 to a Droid3. My Droid3, when connected, via USB cable to my laptop (running Ubuntu) will charge (lightning bolt on the battery, etc), but no notification sound/icon allowing selection of USB mode. I have a cable I bought from the Verizon store. The same cable works with the droid2 still. I can swap from the droid3 to the droid2 and it would connect and my laptop would mount the sdcard (in usb mass storage mode). I have also tried at different computers at work. I had Verizon send me another refurbished droid3. It wouldn't connect either. Motorola Tier 2 tech walked me through the basic checks again, and had me do many combinations of turning on and off, and unplugging the battery, and factory resets to no avail. I asked the tech support to try it on one of their models and she said it worked there, coming up with a notification.
Next I went into a Verizon store, tested with a new cable and multiple computers there, and had an employee try with their droid3. Still no notification message with either of our phones! They said I should wait for update. I have 90days of warranty on this phone, should I wait for an update or maybe even ICS? or return it with hopes I just have seen three droid3's in a row with this problem, and they are not all like this? Or even possibly a different phone? (i like the droid 3 otherwise).
I just received my D3 today and this afternoon an icon showed up the in the notification bar.It is located between the clock and the battery icon, it looks like a box with a check mark in it.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm noticing that my battery life isn't what it seems to be after the upgrade.asically, I rarely check my battery status other than looking at the icon in the notification bar. Today, it clearly showed about 75%. I thought that was pretty good considering the phone was off the charger for about 20 hours (extended battery).I took a look at the battery status details and I see my battery is actually at 50%. The icon obviously is a limited indicator but I don't recall it being so far off prior to the upgrade. Has this changed or is it just that I'm remembering it "differently"?By the way, 73% was used by Android System and 50% (extended battery) after 20 hours of standby is still not good and not even close to specifications. Clearly this needs more work.
View 12 Replies View RelatedI love that Motorola has built in unread counts to certain icons (email, text message, hone, calendar, etc.) but I noticed that there isn't an unread count for the gmail icon. Was this done on purpose? Or am I missing a settings option where I can turn this on?Also, I don't know if the calendar app on Moto phones did this before, but it's a nice touch that the icon changes with the current date.

View 5 Replies View RelatedMy wife and I both have the Razr Maxx. On day one, we attached our Google Voice accounts to our new Verizon accounts. A couple of days ago, a Verizon voicemail notification showed up on my wife's phone, my phone is working fine.
When I click on the notfication icon, it dials *86 and I just get the voicemail greeting from Voice and it allow me to leave a voicemail, which is very strange. The icon "New Voicemail(1)" will not go away. There is no delete option. I tried hitting 7 in call to delete the message. I even tried to force close the app and clear cache. I have searched Google and several phone forums. I even unregistered her Voice and registered it again.
Does any of you would know what the strange icon on the notification bar means? It is the second icon from left to right on the screenshot
View 13 Replies View RelatedI installed 5.1 without issues but I have noticed what appears to be a bug with voicemail. I had a voicemail left for me, listened to it, and deleted it yet the icon persistently shows up in the notification bar. I also have no voicemails in Google Voice. I can clear it in Settings>Apps but it reappears every time I start the phone. I have rebooted the phone, and cleared the cache partition to no effect.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI started to download the daily free app from amazon when for some reason it failed. Now the amazon icon is stuck in the upper left part of the phone in the "notification" area. How do you get rid of this. I even went back and downloaded the app again then deleted it. It annoying the heck out of me.how to remove the icon?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI hate to ask this, but I did not find an answer while searching through the forum. Is there a way to turn off or remove the Status Bar / Notification Bar battery icon. I have found that I like Battery Monitor Widget's icon better, but I do not want two icons in my status bar.
View 7 Replies View RelatedSo on kitkat i had the voicemail icon stuck. i use google voice, and i think this is just a standard verizon voicemail icon. I've checked and there are no new voicemails.
I figured when i upgraded to lollipop it would go away. well guess what, it didn't. so i did a factory reset, and now it's back.
I found that by deleting the data and wiping the cache on one of the 4 phone apps, i'm able to get rid of it, but then when i reset the device it comes back.
I can't figure it out, and tapping on it simply tells me there is no contact associated.

But it keeps flashing although I have no messages. The only way to get it to go off is to receive a message, this is bugging me a bit.
View 3 Replies View RelatedPreviously I had to format and factory reset my nokia e7 , after the format I found out that when I send and SMS and I receive the delivery , the notification light start blinking , and as soon as I touch the touch screen or press on any of the phone buttons ( like the home key, volume or unlock ) it stops blinking , I'm sure it only has to blink when I receive an SMS , not when I receive a delivery.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI began the day yesterday with coverage, but into the evening and through today so far, I have had zero connection. My family members have verizon phones and are able to connect to 3g. I have pulled battery, sd card, and sim card, to no avail. I am updated to 5.5.893, and the connectivity issues are not any better.
View 2 Replies View RelatedAlright I have a Droid RAZR, It just sits on my bed until Sandisk Releases the High speed microSD card for it, in a week or so. I cannot install the larger apps, and hence cannot use it. Now I keep it charged, and it just sits there with no service, but on. Now for the last day or two, the screen comes on and brings up the lock screen, like I pressed the unlock button, all by itself, then it turns off again, now wifi and all data connections are off, it just sits there. It does it if I had to guess 3-5 times an hour, but possibly more. And when I got home today, it was FLAT dead, plugging in the usb cord to the computer wasn't enough, I had to plug it into the wall (genuine charger) Let me know if you need any additional info
View 6 Replies View RelatedJust received my second replacement phone today and already I am back to having issues once again with this phone. Within two hours of it being up and operational my phone has froze up on me and is making noises as it's connecting to the dock when it's not near it. I called Verizon and they told me to do a master reset of my phone. After explaining to them several times I have done this twice already they said that there was nothing that they could do for me except send me another phone yet again.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm using the email app for my work email. It's using the IMAP protocol. I'm not using the corporate sync functionality. After doing a manual sync by pressing the refresh icon, I would get emails pushed to my phone fine. However, after some time emails stop getting pushed to my phone. The period of time when push seems to be working varies around a few hours. When it stops working I have to do a manual sync again in order to get push to work for another few hours.
View 7 Replies View RelatedWhy does the "Updates Available" icon in the alert notification bar disappear if it isn't selected immediately? And once it's gone, how can I get it back? (This applies to all types of updates: Android system, service provider's software, and installed apps). The Android User Manual seems to address only relatively simple update-related questions, and I'm not sure whether this notification behavior is a general Android system characteristic, or just unique to Motorola phones, or only to the Photon.
Often, it's not practical or convenient to drop everything else and install updates immediately when the notification appears, e.g., if you're on a phone call, in the middle of writing a somewhat urgent text or email, changing the baby's diaper, etc. The user might especially want to wait until later to download and install updates that are quite large and time-consuming and those labeled "manual," which seem to require monitoring individually in order to accept terms of service, etc., vs. just being able to select "install all."because some of the updates are large and time-consuming, I'd like to be able to turn on 4G or wireless, if they're not already on. (And they usually aren't, to conserve battery power, as recommended by "Remy" in his excellent post on "Android Tips & Tricks.") But at least on the Photon, turning on 4G or Wireless often causes the update icon to disappear, and there doesn't appear to be any way to get it back.
True, the "My Apps" section of the Android Store supposedly tells you which apps have available updates, but it's much more time-consuming to have to connect to the store and check manually instead of just selecting the icon in your notification bar. Also, the App Store won't have info about system updates.BTW, even when you select "install all," you still need to monitor the installation closely. When the update process finishes, you usually get some notification, like "Updates successfully installed." But if your screen has timed out and is off when the update process finishes, you don't get any information about the updates, so you don't know whether they all installed successfully. (Maybe if your screen is off, you only get a notification when an update isn't successful -- but there's no way of knowing that until it happens!)
I have a Droid Razr and have had a non-stop Motocast synching icon in my notification bar. The first time it happened I went to Verizon store. The only way they removed it was to power cycle my phone. The second time it happened I power cycled the phone. Now it is happening again. Is anyone else having this issue
View 1 Replies View Relatedhow to make the voicemail notification icon go away? After checking and deleting all my voicemail, the icon remains in the toolbar. Hitting the Clear button does not work. Rebooting does not work. Turning the phone off and removing the battery and all cards does not work.
View 1 Replies View RelatedOn my first Photon and my wife's Photon the email icon is a bright red icon looking like an envelope.
When I updated my Photon I now have a gray borig @ sign icon. Where is the other icon? That seems to come if you set up email with another provider (I was initially using comcast). I tried creating comcast account again but it did not change the icon.
Is there a way to get that notifiacation icon back? Obviusly it can be done without being root.
Icon notification support for apps?

I recently bought a Z5 compact. I was using Android KitKat (on Nexus 4) and I had a notification from the Alarm 2 hours before it rings (which also allows me to switch it off if I was already awoken for instance). It seems to have disappeared with Android Lollipop, and in spite of my searches, I couldn't find a solution. Is there a way to stop an alarm without desactivating it ?

I just got a Motorola Milestone in the mail today. I liked the Moto Droid that Verizon has but I have no interest in going to Verizion again. (America's most reliable network does not work in my basement or in other parts of my home and yet Sprint, AT&T and T-Mobile do )
So I got the GSM version of this phone.I have always liked that Droid! notification that alerts you to a new email in my mail box.Is there anyway to get that on my Milestone? Also is there anyway to access the apps store for the free apps without having to sign up for a Gmail account?
