Can someone tell me how to move data from the internal phone storage to the SD card? Wife's Charm gets a notification that internal phone storage is low (13MB or so). Any way to move some things to the SD card?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a variety of apps that create export or backup files. How can the apps access the SD card storage directly? I recently replaced (under warrenty) my Bionic and it was a pain. I backed up everthing (app data that is) thinking the "backup" was going to the SD card, since all I got was a file address (or name). Once I moved the battery, SIM and SD card from one phone to the other, I realized that all the files were on the internal staroage and still on the old phone, not the SD card. This meant moving all of the hardware back to the old phone, finding all of the files stored on the internal storage, moving them to the SD card, switching everything back to the new phone and moving the files from the SD card to the internal storage - all the time hoping I got them in the right place (which wasn't necessarily the case all of the time).

View 3 Replies View RelatedIn my quest to transfer my apps from internal phone storage to my SD CCard I discovered that Motorola refers to (or is it Android) to your SD card as 'media storage'. In an attempt to use the 'Manage Apps' feature and selecting 'Media area' I see apps with check marks and those without. I thought that the ones with checkmarks are those already on the SD Card and those without are those that are not on the SD Card, but might be able to be put on the SD Card. (Another user via another question I put out there indicated that the check marks indicate whether or not an app can be stored to the SD Card . . . is that true?). At any rate I am getting the following message when I select an app and select the 'move to media storage' button.
Failure to move application. There is not enough storage left. Here is the particulars of my current state of storage -
Application Storage - 1.04 GB
Internal Storage-
Total Space: 4.36 GB
Available Space: 4.88 GB
SD Card -
Total Space: 29.71 GB
Available Space: 28.79 GB
*So I have plenty of SD Card space, why am I getting this error? Is the one user correct that just because I see an app in the media area tab, that doesn't mean that it can be transfered? Also, when I select an app and the button to move it to the media area is selectable (not greyed out) . . . shouldn't it be selectable without getting the failure I keep getting? Obvoiusly I have PLENTY of SD Card space, so there is something I obviously do not understand.
Is there a way to move installed apps to the internal 12gb of storage? If I go to manage the app and click "move to sd card" I get an error saying there isn't enough space. I don't have an external sd card in the phone, so this may be why. The problem is I don't want the apps going to an external card, I want to use up the internal storage.
On my nexus s, the button said "move to usb" instead of "move to sd"...
don't say things like, 'why do you need more than 2gb for apps' or 'buy an sd card'.
Is there a way to change storage preferences or just move an app from phone storage to my SD card for my Motorola CLIQ with 2.1 update?
View 4 Replies View RelatedAs it turns out I only have 100mb of internal memory available to install apps. My biggest concern with the Charm was that the advertised 512mb wouldn't be enough and because it has Android 2.1 I wouldn't be able to install on SD Card either.

On my Lumia 1520 (32GB version) I use a 64GB External SD Card for storage of downloaded apps, music, photo's and movies. Recently I downloaded and installed the programms and all the maps for Nokia Here Drive (complete maps of Europe) and CoPilot GSP (with all Europe Maps). I hoped the maps where stored on the SD Card automatically but they are not. I now 'only' have, next to all installed apps, like 2,06GB internal storage space left. I know this could be enough but nonetheless I'm wondering if it is possible to store the maps of both applications on the external SD card rather than on phone storage and if the programms will still work correctly afterwards. On android devices i'm used to that it works like that. The navigation programm is installed on phone memory and the maps are simply stored on the external sd card.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a factory unlocked version of an HTC One M8 on AT&T running 4.4.3. I noticed a week ago I was having issues with Pocketcasts freezing. It stored its files on the SD card so I moved them to the phone storage. It seems to be working fine now. This week I have been taking pictures with my HTC M8 and the gallery freezes and the picture will turn blank with a triangle in it. The camera stores pictures on the SD card also. If I touch the picture the phone locks up.

I have AT&T as the provided but I know even though it is a T-Mobile phone it works on the AT&T network.However I do not have, nor do I want to pay for a data plan. View 4 Replies View RelatedI've noticed recently that my Atrix will no longer unmount the internal storage (either when I select it from SD card & phone storage or when the Atrix is mounted via USB as a USB Mass Storage device). I have no issues with unmounting the external SD card.
When I try unmounting it from SD card & phone storage, it looks like it is going to unmount but doesn't and Unmount internal phone storage turns white again.
Could an app somehow be causing a lock on it somehow? Is there a way to find out which apps are utilizing the internal storage?
I replaced my phones SD card. I thought I still had to format the new card, so went to Menu-Settings-Storage. This is where I screwed up. Instead of selecting the SD card for formatting, I clicked on Internal Storage. A check of the old SD card made me realize many of my photos & videos were wiped.
I've tried Recuva and Stellar Phoenix recovery programs to no avail.
I just didn't realize everything was going to internal storage. Is data recovery a lost cause?

View 8 Replies View RelatedI just got my Bionic Friday night.There's supposed to be 16gb internal memory and 16gb on the sd card.Settings>Storage lists 3.47gb app space available and 8.00gb total space for internal storage.Is this correct? Are the other 4 - 4.5 gb reserved for OS etc and just not shown in storage settings.Just want to make sure there's not a defect on the phone.Settings list sd card space as 14.9gb ( I know format data uses some space).The 'Android System Info' app shows only 4gb max internal with 3.5gb free.Seems like it's only displaying the app storage space.And it only shows 8gb for the sd card.Does this app not work on the Bionic?

It's connected to the computer and I can't access the files, because it says to "insert a disk into the driver".
