I have had my Backflip for almost a year now. The first three months or so were great! I had no problems with the phone at all. Now there is alot of problems with my Backflip. But the problem about my phone that irks me the most is that EVERY time I take a picture with my phone, it freezes and reboots. This is EVERYTIME!!! It's gotten to the point where I'm really tempted to throw my phone out the window. I also considered whether or not to get a new phone altogether because the camera problem isnt the only problem I have with this phone
I purchased a used Backflip and almost immediately started having the re-boot issue, which I since have learned is very well documented. Next time I'll research the forums b4 buying!My Backflip would spontaneously re-boot and then get caught in a constant cycle by rebooting less than 1 minute after my home screen (finally) appears. It never seemed to be triggered by any specific action, such as pressing the infamous "J" key, or using the camera, as others have stated.Through my research I determined the first thing to do was a reset to factory settings. That took time, but didn't solve anything. Then I went down the loose battery/business card shim route. I have 3 BN80 batteries. None of them solved the problem, nor did any of the various business card shim configurations I tried. All of my BN80 batteries are rated 1380 mAh/5.1 Wh. One poster claims that there are 2 different versions of that battery and the correct one is rated 1320 mAh/4.2 Wh. So I tried my BN70 from my Moto Karma (1140 mAh/4.2 Wh).
I also have 2 SD cards and it re-booted with either of them, and with neither of them.So I mumbled something unrepeatable, and gave-up. :-( I pulled my sim card and stuck it back into my Q1 Karma.Then I thought...could it be? So I re-tried the Backflip and viola! No problems. It's solid as a rock. I can browse the web via wi-fi and use all of the features. I can open it, shut it, use the camera, push any key (hard), including those on the battery side of the keyboard (even with the thinner profile BN70 battery) and I can't get the thing to re-boot! That is until I insert a SIM card. The very same SIM card which works just fine in my other Moto phone.
During an exam, I can get in trouble if my phone goes off, even if it just vibrates.I've noticed that even when I have my phone in silent mode, it still vibrates when I receive a text message. How do I turn this off? I do not use the phone for anything other than calling and texting; I have no apps or email accounts or google or anything else set up with the phone. I wouldn't even know how to use them, to be honest. I just want silent mode to mean everything is completely silent, no vibrating or anything.
Is Rooting of Backflip and Installing Customized Roms Illegal?What kind of effect these roms will have on the mobile? In Many ROMS they have mentioned as Android 2.2 or Android 2.3.4.
My stepmother is planning on moving to Sprint and said I could have her Backflip after she did. I don't have a data plan and don't plan on getting one soon. If I scramble the APN with her disabled SIM card, then insert mine, will it keep those settings so that I don't get caught with it?
whenever i try to take a picture with my phone it makes this annoying clicking sound, like a really old computer trying to do somthing? i dont know how to explain it... its very quiet and clicks whenever i try to take a picture, its not just once in a while. when i put my ear up close to the phone i can tell the sound is not coming from my speaker, it is coming from the camera, i had just gotten this phone new after blackberry was unable to fix my other one, and i had a loner phone for almost 3 months, and i dont want to take it in to my carrier again as i had just gotten the phone back and dont want another loner... the pictures it takes are acceptable, not the best...
Everytime i take a pic with my IP4 and I use the flash, the pics come out with a funny white/blueish tint. is there a way to white balance? Is everyone else having this problem?
My iphone 4 has been dropping calls from my office for the last 3 weeks. I have a signal booster and the signal always shows 4 or 5 bars, even when it drops the call. No one else has this issue and my provider has told me that both towers in the area are working good. When it drops the signal often i will hear a noise that sounds like the camera shutter (click) then it kicks me out to the lock screen.
Can I change it to make a different sound? It is embarassing when I am playing a game on the toilette and then turn my phone off and it makes a camera click sound!
When I open my camera app, sometimes the camera takes 1-2 seconds to initially focus and during that time it makes a loud buzzing sound. It sounds like a focus motor or something in the camera and the camera output on screen flutters while it focuses. Once it focuses, everything is normal and it doesn't make any more noise to refocus. This also doesn't happen every time I open the camera app, seems mostly random. I am already on my 2nd S6 since the first was defective for different reasons and I'm starting to get very disappointed with Samsung quality control.
When i turn my camera on it makes a crackling sound and the image waves. I have to touch the screen a few times to get it to stop. Then when taking a picture the quality is very low, not anything like it was out of the box.
It's been over a year since I posted here, because it's been that long since I had a problem. (And people say the Backflip is not any good). Anyway I tried to add another gmail acct this morning. And got an error msg "unable to establish a secure connection to server". After trying several times over a few hours, I began to wonder if it was Google or not, so I tried a hotmail account, same basic errror msg. Tried to check for any updates, and got the same basic msg.I can access websites through the browser, just not do anything related to system files.Talked to AT&T (No Help of course), as far as I can tell all settings are correct, even though I know there is a setting somewhere that is not right.
My phone was working ok until I had to turned it off during the boot process when an important meeting. I turned it off by removing the battery as I didn't it to wait the boot process. After that the phone just don't finish booting up. I can see the blur logo, then goes into the at&t logo. Sits there for few minutes and reboots.
since i upgraded my backflip from cupcake to froyo 2.1, my phone keeps restarting itself especially when i try to perform multiple operations. it also gets very hot during charging. as it is the moment, i dont enjoy my phone.
What can be done to improve battery life on the Backflip, without turning off Happenings and email? It seems to shut off constantly. Is this normal or does it need exchanged?
I check my 'Happenings' and find there are hundreds of new messages, which is weird because I keep up with reading the new ones as they come in. As I page through them, I find that the 'new' happenings go from current messages to some that are a week old...in other words, happenings that I've already read a week ago are coming back as 'new'. This has happened several times.
i turned off my backflip for recharging earlier today. when i turn the device on now, it just keeps rebooting. i will see the Motorola Blur logo, then the ATT 3G animation, screen goes black, then comes Motorola blur logo again, follows by the ATT 3G animation. it seems like the phone is stuck in a "rebooting loop".I tried to pull the battery out and put it back it, it does not help.
So, I tried updating my phone to 2.1 via the method provided.Using an SD card reader I have confirmed that the .zip is on the root drive of the SD card, and is also the same name as it was when downloaded.However, when I go to About Phone -> System Updates, it notifies me that my system is up to date and no updates are available.
My BACKFLIP will reboot itself every few minutes. I don't have to be using it or doing anything with it and it will just reboot itself. It will reboot during a call, texting, charging or any other time it decides to do it. I have done several factory resets and it still does it. It has worked fine for almost 2 years and about a month ago it just started rebooting. There's nothing I've tried that will resolve this problem. The way it looks on the BACKFLIP page its a major problem with a lot of the BACKFLIP phones. This is the second BACKFLIP my family has had the same problem with. My brother just got tired of messing with his and got a new phone. If I could afford the upgrade charges of a new phone I'd do the same thing!
How can i keep my phone from going over its data plan? Is it connected to the internet all the time? is there a way to disable it when i dont want it to be connected what all things on the phone incur data charges ?
How do you set up a calendar account on the backflip?I ahve it on my home page, but every time I try to use it, it says I need to set up an account first.
My phone was not connecting to the wifi so i did a factory rebst and now when i try to log into my motolur account it says that the blur service is unavailable.
This maybe and mote point but i get a notification that it will not install this due to security issues even though i used the link that amazon sent as text to link it to my amazon account?
Att is suppose to be getting me a new unlock code for my backflip, so that I can switch to Tmobile,Once my phone is unlocked, will I be able to remove the ATT bloatware or compile the android OS released from motorola without it?Will any other ATT restrictions on the phone be lifted once it's fully unlocked?
Many of the reviews and first looks say that the BackFlip has "Voice Memo/Dialing".I've found the voice dialing, but no voice memo.There are Voice Memo apps on the market, but did one really come with the BackFlip or not?
My Nokia N95 can receive a Calendar appointment from Outlook via "Send To Bluetooth". My BackFlip doesn't seem to support the appropriate bluetooth profiles and Windows says "Could not connect..." on Calendar send attempt, even though it is paired.
I just got a backflip... when I first boot it it needs me to create a blur account while trying it fails with service is temp. unavailable and theres no way for me to enter the OS.do I have to wait until servers is ok again??
