Motorola Atrix 4G :: Contact Marked As Favorite Not Visible In App
Jun 28, 2011
I have noticed one contact (from my Google Contacts) that I've marked as a "Favorite" that absolutely will not appear in the contact list when I open the Contact app. If I get a call or message from that person, All of the relevant contact information shows and in fact I can go directly to a Contact card for that person from either text messages, call log entries, and email. The only way I cannot see the contact is in the contact list with one small exception. The only time I can see the contact in question is if I go to the dialer app and select the "Favorites" tab.
The contact appears in the favorites list. The contact record shows a link to a Google profile, but the contact never shows up in the contact app. I've tried various things to try and get the contact to show in the contacts list, but nothing seems to work. I'm not running any special apps for email, or texting. I do not have Facebook or Twitter included in Motoblur (in fact make minimal use of Motoblur). I use the "official Twitter and Facebook apps. Last night, I did a factory reset as a last resort, but it did not change anything.
I've got a very strange problem. When I try to set a contact as a favorite by pressing the star it flashes a couple of times and then goes out. When I go to the favorites tab a different contact is now the favorite. No matter which contact I try to make a favorite only that one contact becomes a favorite. The same goes for ringtones. If I try to set a ringtone for a contact it remains the default ringtone and the same contact that always gets flagged as a favorite gets assigned the ringtone. I have tried refreshing my phone and starting over to no avail. This used to work even after upgrading to GB.
My single favorite thing about my Atrix 2 on the new ICS software...I tried all sorts of things before to get it to do that including factory resets. If there was not any other "fix" or "upgrade" I would still be thrilled with just this one. Luckily the phone just runs so much smoother, faster, and less "buggy" as well. The only thing that gets me is why my phone is at 1.0Ghz and my wifes is at 1.2Ghz. They were bought at the same time from AT&T in the USA, have the same apps, have tried resets on both since discovering this, have the same processors, serial #'s are nearly identical except for 2 numbers.
Since upgrading to ICS, my daughter's cell phone will not show up in the "favorite contacts" widget, even though her contact entry is checked when I select Add Contact function. How can I get this to be added? (WOrls fine in Android 2.x that originally shipped with my Droid Razr Maxx from Verizon).
Many names in the address book not showing up. Hence, when I get a call or make one, the name doesn't come up with the number. After the call, the number with the name is visible in call log as outgoing or incoming or missed. In the database details it shows my address book having 238 numbers (these are the numbers currently visible). So how is it that the names are visible in the log and not in the address book and also not visible during a call.
I recently purchased an Atrix and on the second default page of the phone is four icons to add what I call quick call icons. I had no problems adding contacts to those icons but I would like to have more that 4.
1. What is the proper name for those "quick connect" icons?
2. Can I have more that 4 and if so how to I create more?
I am unable to send a contact detail to another mobile via SMS. Tried going trough contacts, select contact, menu, share, selecting text message. MMS gets selected automatically. After adding recipient & touching send an icon appears in the notification bar & disappears after some time. After some more time a message apears in the notification bar saying that the message was not sent.
When I go to edit contacts I see that motorola services contact has the same contact replicated 10 times or more. How can I solve this if I want to edit the contact information?
I am trying to make a contact group...when I add the contact how do you select which number it uses if you have muliple numbers in it. I have contact with land lines as well as cell...I want to only send to cell
I'm trying to change which photo is displayed for certain contacts. Right now it automatically puts facebook photos, I'm trying to change it to a different picture. I go into the contact, click edit, tell it to use an existing photo, I crop the photo how I want it, click save, it shows the new photo in the edit screen, I click save again and it defaults back to the facebook photo.
I am unable to add the new contact. As I try to add any new number through dialer or directly from add contact, it won't be visible in my contact book. But if I add through dialer, and dial it, It will be visible in my Recently dialed number, but not in the contact list.
I tried to resize the widget into a 2x2 with a larger area for the picture so I could see my girlfriend's smiling face. But when I did that, it actually makes it into a 1x2 with HUGE buttons and a really wide, but short, picture. Is there a way to make the picture larger, and the buttons smaller?
I just recently performed the 4.5.91 update on my phone, and it has altered/edited my contacts. The older software allowed for birthday/anniversary information. Cannot figure out how to add this information back to my contacts. For the "few" that actually still showed the birthday/anniversary information, either the dates are off or they just appear as a group of numbers. When I try to delete the incorrect/altered information, it doesn't give me the ability to do that.
If I assign a picture to a contact using the gallery i.e. pictures that I took and store on my SD card. Then I say delete the picture(s from the SD card do I lose the picture assigned to the contact? Or is the picture assigned to a contact 'special' and also resized and kept somewhere else?
I am using Gmail Calendar. I have subscribed to the "Contacts' birthdays and events" calendar using the Gmail web interface. The Android Calendar App lists this calendar as synchronized and visible. Unfortunately, the anniversary, birthday, and other events from the calendar do not display. I purchased the CalenGoo App to troubleshoot this issue. CalenGoo also fails to display the the "Contacts' birthdays and events" content via the Android account. However, if I manually add my same Gmail account to CalenGoo and allow it to sync independently, then the events appear as expected. This indicates that Android is not actually synchronizing the events from this calendar, although the UI reports that it is.
I have tried deleting the Calendar Data from the phone, removing and re-adding the "Contacts' birthdays and events" calendar in Gmail, and re-syncing on Android various times. These actions had no effect. Is anyone with a Motorola Atrix HD seeing this behavior, or getting the contact birthdays and anniversaries to display?
i went to at&t store to get my contacts added to my new Atrix and when i got home i could not change anything on them i went to edit and they all said "PRESET CONTACT from at&t (name of contact)! Preset contact information is not editable on this device.(Phone#)"is there any way to over ride this or what should i do?
How can I delete all of the contact data, without doing a complete reset of the phone? This needs to be done, occasionally, in order to freshly repopulate the contacts, and not end up with duplicates in the phone. The phone gurus at Best Buy and AT&T were also frustrated by the absents of this "Delete All" contact's feature.
So i just updates to the gingerbread 4.5.91 update on my Atrix and now when i go to change a picture from contacts, edit contact, press pic icon... i cant choose what part of the picture i want to use it just uses the whole picture but this way the picture isnt so blurry... if i go to my gallery select a pic, hit the menu button, set as, contact icon i can select what part of the pic i wanna use but then its very blurry... and the original pic is clear as can be..
I imported my contact via phone portal with a Motorola backup file (*.bak) and selected Motorola Services for contacts storage. However, as time passes, my contacts keep growing with hundreds of copies with each entry. I mean when I select a contact an choose "Edit Contact" list shows me hundreds of same entries, as a result phone becomes unresponsive while trying to open "Edit Contact" activity. At the same time this causes general unresponsiveness on the phone because I think it fills memory and tries to garbage collect for a long time (I inferred these by looking "adb shell logcat" and "adb shell dumpsys meminfo". When I run "adb shell dumpsys meminfo" command while trying to open "edit contact, it became hung in that process)Can Turkish characters in my contacts cause this problem?
Is there anyway to change the picture of a contact group? I like sorting my contacts into various groups and use the feature a lot. It would be nice to give each group a different picture instead of the grey head outlines that are next to each group. When I go to Edit Group, it only lets me change the name. Is it possible to change the picture or at least turn the picture off?
Is there any way to add contacts' birthdays and anniversarys in Gingerbread? In Froyo I could edit the contact and they had a field for this near the bottom of the contact info. Now all I see are generic "notes" and "nickname" fields. While viewing the contact, it still has all the birthday information I put in while on Froyo. I know I can edit this information in Gmail, but it's much more convenient to add it in through the phone's contacts
I'm new at this so I apologize in advance if this has been asked. I'm not even sure where or how to search for the answer.I am a former Blackberry user and, as with my Atrix, my phone can be turned on but is non-accessible without a passcode, finger swipe, etc. However, with my Blackberry, as soon as the phone was turned on, I had my name and work telephone number typed on the wallpaper, asking to be contacted if my telephone was found. I haven't found a way to put the same info on my Atrix. Perhaps creating my own wallpaper?
one change i noticed on the gingerbread was that i now have limited ability to edit contacts. here's the situation:
I got a new number of a person who was already a facebook contact (because of motoblur syncing my facebook to my contacts). But i go to the contact and select edit so i can add the phone number and the phone says "facebook contact information is not editable on this device." i really dont know what to do.
I just went through with the newest update (system version 4.5.91.MB860.ATT.en.US) and I am now unable to assign ringtones for contacts, and can't change my regular/universal phone ringtones to anything other than the defaults. Anybody else having these problems, or know how to get around them?
I am unable to add contacts or edit contact groups. I can create a new group and get as far as checking the check boxes in add contacts to group but it will not update.
I recently upgraded to GB, lost all my phone numbers in my contacts, but thankfully the special app worked and I retrieved them. I want to sync with gmail, but I must of choose the wrong default option, when you add a new one, it asks you gmail or motoblur, always use this choice.
I added a contact and it looks like its a motoblur contact, when I go into accounts motoblur has a lock symbol next to it (odd).
anyhow to the questions:
1) How do I change add contacts to use gmail, now that I do not have a choice when adding new contacts.
2) Is there a qucik guide to remote wipe.
3) Someone mentioned they used motoblur to find their phone, how can I do that?
4) How often does my contacts/books etc sync with gmail, can you increase/decrease it?
I cannot transfer my phone's Contact list either automatically or manually from my Atrix 2 to my new Toyota Camry. Any chance Motorola has a patch or software update in the works? FYI, my wife's older cellphone will allow manual transfers to the Contact list so I know its not the car's problem.
