I'm new to the icon and am loving it so far. My family mostly has iPhones, when they send group texts I get the message "get media content now". When I click on it I can't get the content of the message. My family has tried enabling SMS on their phones but it has had no effect.
View 4 RepliesSuddenly, I am not receiving group texts on my iPhone5. It appears than I can send them, but I don't receive them. I haven't had this problem in the past. The group text that I am not receiving is between 2 people that I have sent and received group texts from before. T-Mobile suggested turning the settings on and off again, they wanted me to delete all my old text threads, which I don't want to do. I'd rather save that as a last resort.

I switched from an iPhone to the S5 in mid december and have had issues with getting texts. I have read a lot about it, so I shut off iMessage on my mac and even disabled my number with iMessage on Apple's site. However, I am still not receiving some texts from iPhones. If they send a text just to me i get it fine (even though they may have to click send as a text message) but I won't be able to get it in a group text. It is frustrating because I can see some texts but not all of them. This has been happening for over a month now.

I then wont receive messages until hours later when I guess it finally has sent? Also, in my messaging its showing messages from years ago. I dont want my texts to save or to be backed up or restored.

View 8 Replies View RelatedReceived my Lumia 920 a week ago, I have been fighting with Vodacom in South Africa for 5 days now around getting MMS working. Vodacom say its Nokia who have to provide me with the MMS settings but I cannot find any solution to getting MMS working on the Vodacom network. If I try send a MMS, I get an error saying my message cannot be sent and when I receive a message it says "Get media content now", if I click on the message, the phone reports "getting media content" it plays a sound but nothing further happens, I then receive repeated notifications saying "Get media content now" about 10 or 15 times over a period of an hour?

I receive all other people's group texts without problems (I've got a 1020, AT&T), but one friend (android, Verizon) texts the group and I can't see her texts. I see her name come up in a bubble, but can't see the text. However, she can text me pictures in a group text - go figure!

View 3 Replies View RelatedMy Vivaz no longer alerts me when I get a text, there is no sound or vibration, it is not on silent mode and I've checked in my message settings the volume and that a sound is supposed to play when a text arrives. The envelope that used to show at the top of the screen when I received a text no longer appears either. The only way to know if i've got a new message is to go into my inbox where it appears; the side of the phone will then flash but still no sound. I ran a software update, then a reset and software update, but neither have made any difference.
View 8 Replies View RelatedBeen pretty happy with the ICON. Noticed a problem with sending group messages to Sprint Android users from Verizon ICON. They are getting a blank group message. Tried an Android on ATT and it worked. My friend tried it from is WP on Verizon and he gets the same results. Tried to talk to VZW and "We'll look into this" and now its marked as resolved but the same issue exists.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI've decided that I'll use a local SIM card when I get there, but I was wondering about what happens to the texts and phone calls that my US SIM card will receive while I'm away. Is there a way to set up an "auto reply" message to incoming texts that lets them know they won't be getting a response any time soon?
For my voicemail, I use ISeeVM, and don't know how to change my greeting there either--I tried, but it wouldn't let me preview, and I didn't want to save if it didn't actually record anything, so I just canceled out of it. I have the free version, so maybe I can't even record a new VM message anyway?
Upgraded to newest build, all photos, etc. have sync'd, but not a single text message has downloaded from prior to installing this preview. I've changed every setting I can think of, but nothing works....I've never had this issue with 8.1. I let it sit overnight on wifi, and , I'm having no luck at all. Not trying to be pessimistic, but I hope my texts aren't gone. I really don't want to have to go back to 8.1 to get them back, as I'm digging WP10.

Is text messaging. If I try to send an outgoing text at the same time that one is incoming it will not send the outgoing message. It will struggle for about 30 seconds to 1 minute (or even more) and eventually time out with a 'text was not sent' error message. For someone like me who sends thousands of texts a month it's the most annoying thing ever! Other phones do not have this problem.
Also the time stamp for texts does not work if the phone is powered off. For example: I turn my phone off at midnight and someone sends me a text at 1:00 AM. I turn my phone back on at 8AM. The text arrives but does not have the correct time stamp as being sent at 1:00 AM. It will be shown as 8AM. So I have no idea what time the message was actually sent. Once again other phones I have used did not have this problem.
I send a lot of group texts and the groups vary quite a bit. I have not set up the various combinations of recipients as actual "groups" in iMessage. Let's say I sent a text to Tom, Dick & Harry. Then the next day, I sent a text to Tom & Dick. Then the next day, I sent a text to Tom, Dick, Harry & Jane. If I now go to send a new message to just Tom, his contact now appears fourth on list of contacts when I type "Tom" in the "to" line, behind:

Tom, Dick, Harry & JaneÂ
It's even worse because in some instances, I've included names like Tom in over a dozen random texts involving many people. It's like iMessage is claiming I want each of those group texts to be saved as an actual "group" or at least saved in the results when I'm typing in someone's name for a new text. I DON'T want that. I may have sent a text once to Tom, Dick, Jane, Mary, Ted, Bob & Homer to meet me by the third base line at Cellular Field but obviously I'll only actually need to use that group once because everyone knows with a group that large, there's only a slim chance everyone will get out of the Cell alive anyway. I just want to send Tom a text, after he lost a bet and had to go to a White Sox game, and I don't want to have to scroll past all the random "Groups" he's been in just to find his contact.

So a buddy of mine included me in a group text and now I'm getting never ending texts from people I don't know. I told my friend to remove me, but I'm still getting them. I also unchecked the option in MMS for group conversations, but still getting them.

My daughter took her sim card out of her iphone 3gs, but the phone is still receiving text messages. The phone works, but is pretty beat up, and she is now using an older phone she has till she can upgrade.
