Lumia 950 :: Hard Resetting - Can Restore From Backup

Quick question on build 71 and I am having all sort of issues with batteryand emails not syncing. I've done the hard reset but i reinstall everything from scratch or do i restore from a back up. or is that encouraging more problems.reset done so back to where i was, went in to windows account and cant see the apps which have downloaded in the past, im sure in the past you could resend it to the phone maybe i'm thinking of the 8.1 software. so not really sure if i should restore from a back up of yesterday or download apps all again, massive pain if its the latter.

I just bought a new iPhone and my computer which had the back up from my old phone broke. I have the hard drive from my computer inside another computer. How do I access my old phones backup from the hard drive, through iTunes and onto my new phone?
NOTE: it's not an external hard drive, it is a PC hard drive that I installed into another PC to access it.

My Lumia 800's battery went dead and for more than 2 hours the phone was stuck on the red battery picture! My friend performed a hard reset without myknowledge and I lost everything! I tried connectin my phone to Zune and it took it as a new phone I lost everything my contacts, msgs, apps and I can find a way to get them back!As far as I know I can restore the phone but I am not knowing how! The thing I care about the most r my contacts! Is there anyway that everything I had on y phone can be restored from the backups that the software would do everytime I would connect my phone? Or at least anyway that I can get back my contacts?

I upgraded from a 1520 to the 950 and had the developers preview on my 1520. Low and behold my 950 was getting terrible battery life. draining 10% every hour at idle and more when I was making calls or browsing. It was locking up and having trouble with various apps freezing at times. Before I returned it I thought I would try a wipe and then setup the phone from new and it has fixed everything. I'm at 80% after 6 hours of light browsing and 1 10 minute phone call!

My friend is a repairman at a Sprint repair store and he was gonna put the latest rom with sense 2.5 on my TP2. Well apon arriving, he warned me against it due to the fact he woke up this a.m. and the phone had done a hard reset overnight. Anyone else have this annomoly? I want to wait till all the bugs are out. Other news is he was told by Sprint that our version of 6.5 upgrade would be ready soon. I asked why the long wait. He said our version was the 6.5.3. I hope this is true as it would be worth the wait.

I'm trying to restore a 1520 from a backup that was created on a 1020. It's not working and I can't explain why. When I restored a back up from a 920 to the 1020 it worked flawless. So here is more information ....
Lumia 920 with firmware Black and WP8.1 to Lumia 1020 with Black and WP8.1 works.
Lumia 1020 with Black and WP 8.1 UP 1 to Lumia 1520 with Cyan and WP8.1 does not work, backup doesn't show up, but the old backup from the 920 shows up.

I got a new phone and set fingerprint password. It didn't really work so I got rid of it and just used a PIN. Now that I got my scanner fixed I want to use it again but it needs the backup password which I don't have. I tried scanning my finger and it didn't work. It will not let me scan again and is asking for the backup password for it to be able to open. I am not locked out of my phone rather I just need the backup password to change some settings. I would like to know if there is a way to reset the backup password without resetting my phone and keep in mind I am not locked out and still have full access just not the backup password? I have tried android device manager also the samsung one and cannot seem to find it. I do not want to reset my phone and am rooted.

My 'backup and restore' app won't back up my text messages... it backs up the other things on the list for example the contacts, call logs, brower history etc. I would like to save the messages before I update my phone.Or unless there is another way of saving my messages, i.e. saving them onto a pc or something.I have a Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Mini Pro.

I had faced this issue when i last updated my phone when the 2.1 had come out.. I installed the latest Backup and Restore application as recomended by the SE update site.. Then backed up my files onto an already existing backup (which i think has corrupted the backup), hence overwriting the file.. After that i upgraded to 2.1 and restored my files, which failed because the contacts were not successfully imported (even though the Backup and Restore app said that the import was succesful.)
i was asked to repair the firmware using PC companion and hence want to backup succesfully without any problems. I cant risk loosing my contacts again. And i want to know from others in this forum if they have faced this issue on normal backup (not overwritten on an existing backup). [URL]

I have lost ~20 pictures I took during my family's 4th of July event this weekend. It was the first time they have met my 17 month old daughter. Normally I wouldn't sweat loosing pictures, but these are very important to me.It restored every picture up until the backup I did before I left Sunday morning. I have tried A few different backups, one I made before I erased and synced my phone(new computer, old one was my work computer, no access to it).

I'm planning to restore my iPhone while updating to iOS 4 since I've bee using the same old backup for 3 years or so now, installed a bunch of thing etc... so I want to start from scratch.
The only thing I don't want to lose are my SMS.I also don't want to jailbreak my iPhone.
What are the solution to backup only my SMS (so not regular iTunes backup) and then restore that only to my freshly installed iOS4?

I finally updated my iPhone to 5.1. I waited so long because of the fiasco updating my iPod Touch when 5.0 first came out. I thought it worked, I was pleased Apple worked out the bugs. Lo and behold, all of my apps and folders disappeared before my eyes. No problem I thought, I did a back up. Restore from back up. Fifteen minutes later, it looks exactly the same. Isn't a backup supposed to be of everything on the system so that if something goes wrong, you just revert back to the back up and either try again or wait for the process to be fixed? Seriously, get your stuff together.

I am wondering if there is a way to back up EVERYTHING on my iPhone as well as my Missus iphone but save it all on an external hard drive. The reason for this is my phone recently died beyond repair and I seem to have not backed up my movies songs and apps, needless to say it was extremely annoying.On top of this I am hoping to set it up so it backs up both phones daily over wifi automatically.I have looked on the Internet and can't seem to find the answer I'm looking for.

I just updated to iOS 5.1.1 on my 3GS phone, previously using 5.0, while plugged into the computer and iTunes 10.6.3. I had the phone set to backup to iCloud, and ran a sync operation before updating.Does that not also create a backup?When the restore process began, it asked if I wanted to set up as a new phone or restore from backup. However the list of available backups did not have anything from today.The last one listed was from October 2011.So I cancelled that operation, went through the new phone setup and then it asked if I wanted to restore from iCloud. So I chose the most recent iCloud backup which was from around 6 AM this morning. Now it is in the process of downloading all my apps, pics, and perhaps music as well. I don't know but it's going to take HOURS to finish this.
Anyway I opened some apps that have already downloaded, and some app data appears to be intact. But other apps have nothing after October 2011. And I'm talking apps that have tracked my fitness and workout progress over the past 6 months, bike rides in the past few months, car fuel fillup and maintenance history since October, I'm talking LOTS of data that appears to be gone.What did I do wrong here? Did I not do what I should have done regarding backups? What is the point of backing up to iCloud if it's not going to back up all my app data?

I have been using my iPhone 4 as an iPod for a while because I'm waiting for AT&T to unlock it. I wanted to restore my phone to backup in my computer, but the restore button only restored my phone to factory settings, and it now tells me to activate the phone but I don't have the original SIM. Is there a way to restore to backup without activating the phone?

To recover my notes written in my NOKIA N97 as I've loist them cuz I had to hard reset my mobile due to Start up failed contact retailer error was originated and it hanged my phone and I was unable to create backup of notes and after hard reset all of those precious notes i.e my articles for journals ,poetry and scripts etcs were deleted So please help me ! and tell me the way to recover phone memory or even only those notes ! I have been religiously doing auto-backup on to a remote hard drive. But now I cannot seem to access any of those files at all. It keeps saying I have no administrative permission to view the files. Even when copied to my desktop, I can't use them to restore.The issue that started this all is that I switched computers. And every time I sync, the desktop program wants to add or delete about 1200 past calendar items. I have been reticent to allow the sync to continue because I did not want to lose data, but today I said, "what the hell" and let it continue. It deleted everything from BOTH the handheld and computer prior to May, when I started using the new computer. So when I try to reinstall the older backup file to retrieve the lost data, now the program won't let me access the files I saved so religiously.

I purchased the Nokia Lumia 920 just under a month ago, a few times it's blacked out and i've done a reset (hold volume button and power button down) and it's worked, this time however when I done that reset the screen is not working, the side buttons are working but the touch screen is not working at all, I've tried reseting it multiple times, with holding both volume buttons with the power button and holding down one or the other the with power button and camera button, I've tried removing the sim but with no resolution and I don't know what else I can do. I know chances are I will have to take it to a store but I thought I would try on here first.
