Push notifications such as WhatsApp, FB and E-Mail etc all arrive 5-20 minutes late when on a cellular data connection for me. They work fine on WiFi and arrive instantly.
My Lumia 1020 had no issues before my 950. I have strong signal and it happens in multiple areas...
allow us to download large apps via cellular data connection as everyone cannot afford WiFi or internet connection on pcAs windows phone 8is also not coming for current devices.... Please do us a favor and allow us to download large apps via cellular data.
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy wife is on a school trip to the US. Meanwhile, I am at home in Canada. I am texting her, but I found it odd she never replies and vice versa. So, she discovered that her iPhone (latest iOS 5 release) keeps trying to send the message as an iMessage. It is not reverting to SMS after a given time, as it should and as I have seen it do before. I have tried it now also and my wife only receives my messages when she has a wifi connection (she does not have data roaming enabled). It seems like my iPhone too continously tries to send the message as an iMessage and it does not switch to SMS after a certain timeout time. The message that the iPhone continously tries to send as an iMessage never fails, however the status does not change until the next time my wife is in wifi coverage and the message is delivered.

Sometimes I don't get the notification at all, unless I access the app and, in the case of Facebook, refresh the notifications's page. I enabled Automatic email retrieval and the interval time was 2 hrs. All worked fine. I got the notification in first run. I noticed that my packet data connection was active for whole day, in result phone battery was consumed too early.
I just want to know these two things:
1. Why the packet data connection is active all time? Cant it active only on the retrieval hours. Not in the idle position?
2. Why the email alert notifications has just stopped showing NEW EMAIL
I am just missing my important mails due to this problem of notification.
I'm using the brand new Z5 Premium with Active Sync (Microsoft Exchange Online). The E-Mail push notifications come very late, sometimes many minutes later. What could be the problem?

After an upgrade to Lollipop, I noticed my gmail label notifications are delayed, i.e. whenever an email with my label is received in my inbox, my customised label notification is delayed, until I unlock my phone and about half a minute later, the notification will appear.
2. Sometimes, the notification sounds (be it whatsapp, email or messages) in locked screen will sound warped.
3. After I unlock the screen and say I'm at my home screen, when I move to another screen, it does not load up properly.
Im getting terrible slow wifi speeds, and my notifications are extremely delayed compared to my other phones. we are talking 1-2 mins.

The only way I have found to get it back, is to turn the phone off and back on, which is a pain. It seems to happen a lot at night, but has happened a couple of times during the day. Here are a couple of updates based on the AT&T support portal: WiFi vs cellular link: Connecting to a local WiFi hotspot and turning off your cellular data connection will block cellular data transmission and related charges. (Except for SMS messages, which are very small.) There are some gotchas, however: (a) If your iPhone goes 'to sleep' (the screen goes black), it will revert to the cellular data link, unless it is plugged into a charger. (b) Even if your iPhone is plugged into a charger, it will revert to a cellular data connection if the WiFi link drops, e.g. due to a momentary glitch with your internet provider or electric power supply, so.... (c) The only way to completely ensure that your iPhone will not revert to a cellular data connection is to turn it completely off. You (obviously) will not be able to receive calls, however.
Large data transactions in the middle of the night: Unusually large 'chunks' of data that are apparently sent around midnight are a related issue. You may think that you could avoid these mystery charges by making sure you have a WiFi connection running at night. A number of 'czars' on AT&T's site stated, however, that this is are simply an artifact of AT&T's billing system, which "aggregates" transactions that occur throughout the day into one summary charge, which is posted in the middle of the night. If this is accurate, the data connection(s) you use throughout the day will determine how large this 'summary' transaction will be.
Note: Our bill does not appear to square with AT&T's explanation. For example:

I bought an iPhone 3GS off a guy on craigslist and it works great, no complaints. But every few minutes or so I get the alert saying that I "Cannot activate cellular data network - You are not subscribed to a cellular data service", and it's really annoying because it lights up my iPhone all the time and kills my battery. It's also really annoying - it comes up whenever I'm typing a message or playing a game; literally when I do ANYTHING on my phone. I do not have a data plan, but I have used 'unlockit.co.nz' to install a Fake APN to my iPhone to block data. Rogers has also given me a data block. This has been going on ever since I bought the phone, I thought installing a Fake APN would stop it but I guess not. I can't really restore since I have a lot of stuff on this iPhone already.. but if that's the only option then I will be forced to. I used to have an unlocked Fido 3G (about 2 months ago) without data and it never gave me this alert, do you think it has something to do with my 3GS being locked to Rogers?
This phone is a jailbroken iPhone 3GS (model MC143C) running version 3.1.3 (7E18) and locked to the "Rogers 5.0" network. If it helps the modem firmware is 05.12.01.if there are no real solutions, I still have 2 months left on my warranty. Would Apple fix it or give me a new one if I un-jailbreak it?

I have noticed that sometimes the phone downgrades my data connection speed to EDGE and it only shows up the HSPA icon again if I turn off-on the phone. I have tried turing the data connection off and on but it does not work.I noticed that it is more common for it to drop the data connection speed when I go from home to work or vice-versa (it probably changes to another cellular network antenna).But even if I stay in a single location, after a few hours the connection drops too.

I purchased my Lapdock 100 from a Verizon store yesterday, although I have an Atrix 2 through AT&T. When I tried it for the first time at home last night everything worked great but my phone was using the wifi connection. Today at work I try it over a cellular connection and the Firefox browser does not get internet, but the phone browser and any other phone based internet apps do while connected to the lapdock screen. For example I can maximize the phone's browser on the laptop screen and access the internet, but it is not optimal visually, I would much rather have the Firefox browser and other webtop apps working.
Is there something cell provider specific that is blocking the cellular data because I bought the lapdock from Verizon but use AT&T?
So I got my first ever iPhone and it's the iPhone 4. I have the 200mb plan and I plan to switch cellular data off most of the time if wifi is available to avoid overage. Thing is, with cellular data off, I can't do certain things (ex. Receive picture messages via the Messages app) unless I turn on cellular data. So as long as wifi is available, will my phone still use up cellular data even though it can get data off the wifi? Thanks.
