May 21, 2012My wife's iphone was tied to a laptop iTunes library. The laptop's hard drive died some time ago, and she has since refused to update the iOS version or sync the phone with another computer, for fear of losing access to the considerable amount of non-iTunes MP3s that were formerly on her laptop, and are now only stored on her iPhone.
So my question is twofold:
1) Can I update the iOS for her without syncing the itunes library on the phone? She is currently running iOS 3.1.3 (7E18). If I can update it, how do I do so safely?
2) Is there any way to set up a new iTunes library on her new laptop without destroying the music library she already has on the phone?
My goal would be to simply get the iOS version and iTunes database up to the latest version, so we can subscribe her to the iCloud service and back up all her music.

Mar 22, 2012My brothers computer broke. It was a PC. But he had his iPhone synced with it. So now he wants to get the music he lost in that computer to download to his new computer. But the music he purchased is on his iPhone, and the computer wont let him transfer the music from his iPhone, to his new computer. It tells him this music was synced with a different library and won't let him transfer the music.
Does anyone know a work around for this. I know he is using a PC, but I figure, and Apple user, who brakes his Laptop(I'm not talking about crashing, I am talking about actually braking, it was smashed basically), would run into the same problem, your iPhone has Music that was synced with another Library, and it wont let you move the music to the new library. Even though this music was all purchased with the same Apple ID, that doesn't seem to matter. Now, I know that one of the new features of iTunes lets you re-download music you purchased and may have lost, without having to purchase it again. But none of the music from that broken laptop appears in that list of re-downloadable music. All was purchased from iTunes.

I am trying to erase all the music from my iPhone and then load a new music library. In iTunes I go to Music > Sync Music > Entire music library, then attempt to Sync. I get the "this will erase all the music on the iPhone" message, I say OK. I then get a dialog "The iPhone cannot be synced because there is not enough free space to hold all the items in the iTunes library....."
The new library is about half the size of the library on the iPhone, so it is obviously not erasing.

When keeping all of my music on an external drive, and leaving none on the rMBP, there comes the issue regarding music management on my iPhone. Presumably, in order to add music to the phone using this system, I would have to make sure that iTunes on the rMBP reads from the iTunes folder/library on the external HD, at which point the music files would become visible in iTunes and I could then add music to the iPhone.

Aug 4, 2011I am syncing iTunes playlists plus one WMP playlist. Inspire 4G on Win 7 with latest versions of everything. Every time I connect to HTCSync it thinks it needs to sync all my music again. Takes a looooooong time. Sync's the same songs over and over. Does not sync all of the WMP songs in the playlist. 8GB chip with 2.1 GB free so I don't think room is an issue.

Jun 30, 2012In order to free up space on my IMac, I have moved all my itunes music to a portable hard drive. I ended up deleting the itunes library folder at the same time and consequently changed my defaulted itunes to the library folder within the hard-drive (which is attached to the computer at all times).
When launching itunes from the icon on the desktop, it launches the itunes within the hard-drive.
My issue now, is that I cannot transfer any of the music purchased in my i-phone to my i-tunes as it states the phone is synced to another library.
Is asks whether I want to sync it to the new one but I gather I will lose everything currently on my phone?
First, if I do proceed to sync it will it from now on sync to this itunes library and is there any way I can attempt to save the stuff already on it? Including music I've purchased from the i-tunes store and all my contacts?

Deleting Music Library From IPhone 5s
Sep 11, 2014I am trying to delete the music off my iPhone. I have gone onto my Usage settings and tried to delete them that way, however it says there is no data. I have then plugged it into my PC and again it says no data, however when I go onto my library on the phone itself, it has around 700 songs, all greyed out with either the iCloud symbol or a sign which means they're downloading, however this sign has been there for months now and nothing is yet to download, how do I clear this and start again?!

Songs are present and correct but the folder will not update (i.e. I deleted a song but the number on the folder does not show this change or I removed a specific genre but that genre folder remains)- I have seen this issue with a number of Nokia music player phones and was wondering if anything was ever resolved, There was a workaround for the 5800 (show hidden folders and delete a load of .dat files) but this does not work for my C7 with Belle?
