IPhone :: Why Am I Getting Chinese Characters For 4S
May 2, 2012I've just started getting what looks like Chinese characters and the string 500 in Stocks on my iPhone 4 with iOS 5. No similar thing happening with DOW J and NASDAQ. I deleted and added it back using a search on ^GSPC with the same result.

May 21, 2012I'm based in the U.K. and I'm registered with Apple as being in the UK, but I recently visited China & bought an official Apple accessory from the official Apple Store. They asked if I wanted my receipt emailed to me, which I said yes, and gave them the email address that's registered with Apple. Ever since then, I receive emails from Apple in Chinese and now when I look at the App Store or iTunes on my iPhone 4S or iPad 4, all menus are in Chinese. I've logged into my iTunes account and it says that I'm registered in the U.K.. In addition, both the iPhone & iPad, have there regions set to the U.K.. Does anyone know how I can get my account registered back to British English and/or U.K.?

Mar 17, 2012After updating my Sprint iPhone 4S to 5.1, every text message I send that is >= 80 characters gets split into two texts, often with just the last word in the second text. The outgoing text sound plays twice when this happens. I have comfirmed this with multiple people including myself and it is extemely annoying.

Jun 17, 2012Often when I text somone ONE message that is under the 160 character limit, the iPhone takes it and sends it in two messages. Why does it do this? Is there anyway I can make it stop. It's frustrating because all the people I text always get two messages from me instead of just one.

Jan 25, 2010My bold has this issues in which it only allows me to send 70 characters in a text, the rest is full of random spaces I can't see, and some people end up getting blank texts from me. Randomly, it could be someone on ATT or sprint whatever, what should I do besides send my phone in? Im thinking about doing that since its on warranty for another month, do you recommend another Bold.....or should I get a Curve 8900....or try out a non blackberry device, or see if they have a Bold 9700 in stock?

Apr 17, 2011WIth the update to OS 6.0 (6.0.0.6.00) frmo Sprint, I now have the ability to go beyond the standard 160 characters for a text mesage. It appears that I have up to seven text messages worth of 160 chracters that can be composed and sent. This feature was working fine until last week. Here is what is happening. If I compose a text that is 180 chracters long, only the second part (the last 20 characters) comes thru. The message will say "2/2" and then display the final 20 characters. The first 160 characters never arrive. I have tested sending a message like this to a Sprint user, ATT user and T-mobile user. They all arrived in the same manner, only the last 20 characters.I have spoken to Sprint to no avail.

The first few characters I type into the Google Search bar are always lost. It's really annoying, and it's gotten to the point that I just jab at characters until it starts echoing. It does not catch up or remember those first lost characters.
Really, really annoying. No other app, widget or feature has this problem.

May 22, 2012Since my phone (Curve 9360) was updated to 7.1 Bundle 1133 last week, I can no longer send SMS messages as the numbers are changed to characters. For example, if I try to send an SMS to 63555 it converts it to FRDDD when entered, then when the SMS is sent, it displays (in red) Unidentified subscriber.Is this a problem with the software? I cannot find any setting to disable the search that changes the number to the characters.

Every word with a Swedish character ends up one letter short.Before the firmware upgrade this was intermittent, happening only on about half of my mails.Now I upgraded yesterday, and it seems the problem is now permanent.Have seen similar posts from E75 and E90 owners, their problems seem to have been fixed by newer firmware.Our setup is: Exchange 2003, Portwise authentication.All other phone models work fine, like iPhone, E71 etc.

Jan 1, 2010I cannot type in the circumflex and tilde characters (as well as some others). When using the hardware keyboard, I use the Sym key to get the onscreen selection of symbols/chars and from there, all the characters work except for all those on the row that contains the circumflex and tilde. I also tried enabling the onscreen keyboard and selecting them from there, but they don't work in that either. When touching the tilde button, it turns orange, but does not transfer the character into the text area like it does with the less than character for example.Does anyone know how to get that working please?
