Apr 19, 2012My iPhone 4's sleep/lock button is stuck in. (From wear and tear) It's out of warrantee so apple won't fix it, a genius did tell me to replace the button, so i ordered the parts from I-fixit and followed their guide. (http://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Installing-iPhone-4-Power-Lock-Button/4332/1) After reassembly the new button is still stuck in! What am i missing here? is there a part that needs to be fixed other than the actual button?

May 20, 2012I have been having this bro;em yesterday and also today when i woke up. My Verizon iPhone 4S touch screen is un responsive sometimes then it workes other times. My Sleep/WAke button also doesnt work. My phone thinks that my sleep button is always being pushed so if my touch sreen is working i can do anything becuase my phone puts it self to sleep when i unlock it. I was on IOS 5.0.1 and then updated to IOS 5.1.1 thinking that this would help me but i didnt.

I tried fixing it myself with the paper solution that I saw on Youtube. this last time I tried fixing it. the button started to work and when I started putting the phone back together. the phone shut off and I cant seem to get it back on. is there any way besides sending it somewhere to get the button fixed to get it to turn back on? or do I need to get it replaced with a new one.

Apr 30, 2012Ok. So my lock button stopped working on my iPhone 4 yesterday. It was 'sticky' (not clicking very well) for a few hours now it ceases to even work.
I also have a cracked screen (which occured 3 months ago now) that I tried to get replaced. Unfortunately they weren't happy that day or something and didn't grant me the one time free replacement that they seem to be giving out everywhere else. Anyway, so I decided not to pay the $180 because the crack isn't too big and it doesn't stretch too far onto the actual LCD screen.
So my question is... If I go to the Apple store regarding the lock button, will they deny me a free replacement because the screen is cracked and they will just pin the blame on that? I am still within the one year warranty too.
Also, for future reference, does a cracked screen void the free warranty replacement for any problems encountered, whether it be hardware, software or mechanically related?

Jun 24, 2012I have the Iphone 4s, my screen has been cracked since 2 months after i got it in November 2011, 3 days ago my lock button started acting funny, now it is completely stuck. I went to apple store today and they will NOT replace it because the screen is cracked and the damage could have affected the button. How could all of a sudden a cracked screen make a button stuck completely? I have read alot of reviews about how some apple techs will replace your phone, and others make you pay the 200$ to get a new one. Why should i have to pay 200$ for something that is apples error? The screen crack isn't even bad?

But today my lock/power button randomly stopped working for me. My fone wont lock at all. I did shut it off by holding the home button and the lock button, but then I couldn't turn it back on, with the reason being my lock/power button will not work. It is not jammed nor loose.

May 11, 2012Recently my iPhone 4's lock button collapsed and it is now longer functioning. In reaction to this I visited the Genius Bar and they informed me that it could not be repaired and that I was required, due to my warranty being up, to pay £120 for a replacement. This was as much as I expected at the time. However, shortly afterwards the wifi connection stopped working and my iPhone can no longer sustain connection outwith 2m from the router.
I then phoned my insurance company with this problem, and they informed me that I willbe unable to claim for a replacement as it is a manufacturing defect and not damage. Despite my warranty being up, is there any grounds for argument that such a hardware defect, outside of my control, is reason to claim for a free or reduced price replacement from Apple? I am unsure where I stand. I have had this phone since May 2011 and it seems ridiculous that a phone that comes with a 2 month contract cannot last, without accident, for the same duration.
BB Bold :: 'Lock/unlock' Button Not Working?
Feb 24, 2011I just got my Blackberry Bold 9780 last night and the 'lock/unlock' button on the top left doesn't work at all. It feels somewhat sticky - the mute key on the right side makes a clicky sound when pressed down whereas the lock button just presses in without making any contact. I understand that you can set a password but that is rather inconvenient as you have to wait 1 minute for it to lock and every time I want to use the phone I have to type in a code. I can lock the phone by holding down A/* but then there is no way of unlocking it again. the phone came with the holster because that seems to unlock it for me - but this is obviously less than ideal.What can I do? Is there a shortcut to unlocking like on the Curve 8520 (a/* and the call button)?

Jul 31, 2012I have been using bold2-9700 for the past 2 years and till today I havent faced any problem with it but recently, like 3 months back I bought a new bold 4-9900. It was working fine but by the second month it started giving me hangs and it got a bit slow, I know that was expected so I dint really care much but from the past 2-3 days I have been facing a new problem; my bold 4-9900 lock button is not working at all, I have even checked the settings but I could not find any thing related to it, I am really tensed as it has just been 3 months and it has given me problems.
The second problem I have facing is my scroll is not working properly as well, If I am on the menu then I am not able to scroll up or down unless and until I touch the screen. I went and checked the settings as well but no luck, but I did notice that when ever I open something on the right corner EN box appears and I think that is the thing which is not allowing the scroll to move. Please help me out as I dont want to give it for repair.
