IPhone :: IMessage Says "waiting For Verification"?
Apr 23, 2012
This morning, my iPhone 4 on AT&T began to give me problems by not sending iMessages. I then realized that it says "Waiting for verification..." and that the messages are being sent through my Apple ID, not my phone number. When I go to "Receive at" it says that they are being received on my Apple ID and that my phone number is being verified.
I keep getting "waiting for activation" on my iMessage. I can only send/receive iMessage from my email address, NOT my phone number.
And I'm not sure if this is connected or not, but under setting > phone > show my caller ID, the ON button is greyed out.
A little history & weird problems I encountered:
My iPhone 4S was stolen about a month ago (I'm still ****** about it).I did a remote wipe on it and I figured the person who stole is has thrown away the SIM card because the number isn't active anymore.
So I just bought a brand new iPhone 4S and a new number again. I synced it to iTunes and upgraded it to iOS 5.1 then I did a restore from my old back up. Everything was fine except for the iMessage. It shows "waiting for actvation". When I tap under Receive At, the email address is listed as well as my OLD phone number (the one that was stolen). It was greyed out and the status was "verying" which later turned to "error". I have no way of editing or removing that old number. When I connect my iPhone to iTunes, the phone # was shown as n/a on iTunes, but after 30 mins or so, it will appear.
So I did a restore again and this time set is as a new iPhone. The old phone number is now gone, but only my email address is listed. I can't input my phone number there.
I have done all kind of fixing suggestions that I can find online, but nothing works so far.
- Date & time set as automatic (I don't know why this matter, but mine was already set as automatic from the begining)
- Reset network setting
- Changing the DNS to 8.8.8.8.
- Restore to factory setting (from back up & as new iPhone)
- Turning on/off iMessage & facetime
- Sign out/in of apple ID
- Change location from apple ID
- Hard reset/reboot
And many others.
Is this an error on my iPhone or maybe the iOS or is it the carrier?
My imessage and facetime are not working it keeps on saying under the settings that the imessage and facetime are waiting for activation but its been like that for a couple of hours now
i have iphone 4, my sim card is working in my country, recieving at my Apple ID email and my phone number.. working finee then i traveled to another country and now there is no service.. and no carrier is allowed.. donno why.. so im using my imessage which is working while roaming to my phone number and my email... but my mistake i turned it off.. and now its waiting for activation.. im afraid that it needs my sims signal to work and recieve at my phone number. coz until now its verifying BUT NO SERVICE.. and i reeeeeeally need my imessage.. it has been for hours.. WAITING FOR ACTIVATION and VERIFYING my phone number.. NOTE:- no service, signal and CANT FIX IT...
After upgrading to iOS 5.1 , my imessage have stopped showing my phone number and shows my email address instead. It is NOT verifying my phone number. Does anyone know how can I get the iphone to show my phone number?
Just purchased my IPhone yesterday and can't send out any text messages. I went into imessage and it keeps saying "waiting for activation". I've done everything that the Apple support said to do. Also what several websites have recommended. I'm almost thinking of taking it back and getting my old phone reactivated.
I put in a password for iMessage, but evidently I am remembering it wrong or something. In any case, it simply hangs at "Waiting for activation..." I don't know what to do. How should I proceed?
I am trying to set up iMessage and FaceTime for an iPhone 4. I have created an apple ID and set up the wifi connection but both show " waiting for activation" so when I select "use your apple ID for iMessage" but when I try to sign in it says there is a problem with my Internet connection even thought the Internet is fine for everything else. Does anyone know how to fix it?
iMessage and FaceTime perpetually show "Waiting for Activation" in settings. When I toggle these features on in settings, they both say "Waiting for Activation" beneath the toggle. Those goes on for hours, but it never activates. I have reset the phone with iTunes, powered off, done just about everything but through the phone at the wall.
I just updated my iPhone 4 and my iPad 2 as well as my wife's iPhone 4 to IOS5.1. No problems with the update process but we cannot activate iMessage. It just says "Waiting for activation ..."
I switched my iMessage ON and it still says "Waiting for activation..." I tried powering on and off, toggling the switch, etc. I have the iPhone 4s operating on ios 5.1. It is stuck on this and will not activate.
i cant get a verification email for my apple id. i opened 2 different accounts with different emails but it still dont send me the verification emails.
Recently (as in the past 2 or so days), when I am in the Music app and selecting a song to play, the little window to type in your iTunes password pops up and asks me to type in my iTunes password. I have already tried many things to remedy the situation. I've pressed cancel, and it goes away, but comes back randomly after a few minutes. I've put my password in [and yes, I put in the correct password] and the same thing happened.
I've signed out and signed back in, through both the Settings app AND through iTunes and the App Store on my device. I've turned it off and back on. I've plugged it in and synced it. I backed it up and did a full restore to that back up. No luck. The only thing that *seems* to work is just signing out and staying signed out. This is somewhat annoying, because now every time I want to buy a song, or update an App, I'll have to sign in, download it, and then sign out. Â
How I can fix this, without losing all of my data? I don't use iTunes Match or iCloud, so it couldn't be those things.
Cannot get Apple to send a verification email. I have tested that the email account works so I know that is not an issue. Have been to the (not so) Genius Bar twice but they do not have a clue as why it will not send the email. When I contact Apple I just get the same links to the same posts but no answers.
I've just bought the Iphone 4s but I am not receiving the verification mail. I have double checked the mail, and the mail name. I am using gmail. (And I have tried re: sending mails several times.)
I updated my iPhone 4 to iOS 5.1 when it was released. My friend updated his iPhone 4S delayed, yesterday. Before yesterday iMessage worked well between our iPhones. But since my friend updated to iOS 5.1 as well, iMessage does not work anymore between our two iPhones.iMessage works well with all other adresses we both use as well. But only our two iPhones cannot use iMessage anymore.
