Jun 27, 2012Trying to update iphone 4 from software 4.3.5 to 5.1.1, have tried this twice, but each time I receive an error message telling me that the phone can't be updated because the firmware file is not compatible. I called Apple Support who advised me to restore and update and said this would work. I tried this but after 45 mins that didn't work either, wouldn't even restore, I just got the same error message.

May 30, 2012Never jailbroken my phone, never wanted to. Just wanted to put some songs onto my iPhone 4 and it said some of the contents cannot be read and I needed to restore. So I clicked restore and it started to download the 5.1.1 update. Once this was done the error message:
"The iPhone iPhone' Could not be Restored Because Firmware is not Compatible" appeared.
So, I remembered I had been reminded on my phone that the 5.1.1 update was available through Settings on my phone, so I updated it that way. Successful update. I plug my phone back in and the contents still cannot be read, so I go to restore the phone again. Once again, "The iPhone iPhone' Could not be Restored Because Firmware is not Compatible."
