a couple days ago i had to turn the volume all the way up on my phone and when this didn't do anything i thought perhaps I was losing hearing in my left ear! but of course i tried speakerphone and it is fine. is it possible that instead i have simply lost a little left ear earwax and that it has found a nice little spot to nest on the "earpiece" of my sleek little iphone 4?

I just recently am unable to hear callers via the earpiece, but i am able to hear callers via the speakerphone and also music via the bb media player though.

The phone woked fine for a month. But now I can not hear through the Phone's earpiece. This problem developed suddenly one day without any warning. I did not drop the phone or bang it against anything. I can hear through phone speaker, bluetooth headset or regular wired headphones but not through the earpiece.
I then upgraded the phone software thinking it might be a software issue. But it didnt work.
I have nokia E5 6 months used now I had earpiece problem if any one calls me I cannot hear sound through earpiece but when I activate loud speaker then I hear sound.

Everything's fine as long as I have it on loudspeaker or have the earphones in but as soon as I press the handset button I stop being able to hear anything (although the person at the other end can still hear me). Not sure if it's something I've caused by messing about with the settings as it hasn't always been like this, or if something's broke.

I have an iPhone 4 and over the last few days I can't hear anyone when they call me or when I call them, however they can hear me. I have been using skype to call people on the phone via 3g and that works fine. It started as crackling and static on the line initally but now there is no sound at all. I´ve had my Iphone 4s since january and have use a cable to extract audio to play it in the car. A couple of days ago I took the earphones that came with the phone and started using them.
Everything sounded good, podcasts, songs, games. Yesterday I used an application called brainwaves that is a sound generator (alpha, beta, etc. waves). After that, I tried to listen to more music and noticed that the sound on the right earpiece is distorted.
I tried closing all application, reseting the phone, I even restore it with Itunes, and it is the same. I tried some other earphones without the control switch, and the noise-distorition dissapears. I connect the cable to listen music in the car, and the problem is there.
I tried different songs and podcast, and the problem is still there. Is this a problem with the output jack? the earphones? software?
