I have been pretty happy with my iPhone 4 up until today but I have discovered a bit of a problem.When I touch the bottom left of the phone the signal drops 1 - 2 bars.It has not been dropping calls but I dont think my phone should be doing this. Is anyone else experiencing this issue?
View 19 RepliesI've been experiencing this strange problem for few weeks with my N8. When I'm receiving or making a call,network signal level drops from full to 2 bars. Happens only when i hold my phone from its lower end(where menu button is located). As long as i hold phone from its upper end(where audio jack is located), signal level is maintained to full bars. Such fluctuations don't occur when phone is lying still somewhERE. Signal starts dropping only when phone is held by its lower end. Happens while accessing 3G too. Is this a normal thing? I checked after changing SIM and switching to another network provider. Still the same.

I'm at the end of my tether! My iPhone4 drops calls for absolutely no reason at all, at least 50% of the time.It doesn't matter how strong my signal is, or whether the call is outgoing or incoming. The person on the other end doesn't sound like they are breaking up either - it just goes suddenly silent.Then, when I press 'end call'the phone freezes on 'call ending' - the only way out of this is then to reboot the phone.I've been back to the Apple Store in Glasgow twice, and to their credit they have replaced my handset twice within the last year;
however despite my THIRD handset doing exactly the same, they have told me that no more replacements will be given.I have tried doing a master reset and setting up again as a new phone to eliminate the possibility that something within my back-up is corrupt, but the end result is the same.I have five different Apple devices at home and am a huge fan, but I'm afraid this is making me envious of my friends who have Android phones (sorry, didn't mean to swear

I have recently purchased a Z3 Dual sim D6633 and around twice a day either when receiving or making a call the phone suddenly drops out during conversation and both network strength bars are showing no signal. a message briefly shows up saying no no network signal ( or something to that effect ) then dissappears. A few seconds later the signal comes back for both sims and all is ok again. Why this is happening but its becoming frustrating especially when I have to call clients back.

I routinely call the very same people at aproxmately the very same times and days of the week with the very same phone numbers from the very same locations in my home and shop... sitting in my office desk chair, standing at my shop workbench, seated at my kitchen table, lying on my bed... and as far as I can telI, nothing on my end or on the other person's end has changed... phone numbers, land or mobile, calling patterns... but ever since I upgraded to the Atrix, I've had this problem consistently from the very first day.
I contacted AT&T many times, and they sent a warranty replacement phone; same resulting performance.The signal strength meter on the phone typically reads 2-3 bars in this area, which AT&T says should be sufficient.)It is so touchy and position/orientation sensitive that I can often drop the call from simply turning my head, or if lying in bed at night, switching the phAT&T went through the entire customer service/tech support gamut with me:Power down recycle, remove & reinstall the battery, replace the original SIM card that came with the Nokia (which still works flawlessly under identical circumstances if I put the SIM card back into it!), run network diagnostics on the tower equipment... they even sent out a crew of field engineers to the property to assess the signal characteristics.
After months of evaluation by the engineering department, they finally determined that the San Diego area is very high in signal strength, and the problem is due to the immediate area where I am located... hills, valleys, canyons, etc. There was nothing more that they could do. That was simply the level of performance I had to accept from this phone in this location. (Sorry.)I still don't know why the primitive technology in that old Nokia doesn't miss a beat. I find it hard to accept that the flagship product with advanced technology can't perform anywhere near as well as this dated Nokia.But I like the Atrix so much in every other way, I would even pay for a stationary antenna and/or signal conditioning/amplification equipment at my location to be able to use it here.
I have not found any such equipment offered for sale by either Motorola or AT&T listed on their websites. I know that there are aftermarket companies that sell such items, but I would really like to know if anyone has any specific experience with those items, particularly when used with the Atrix, or at least any reason to advise in one way or another toward a solution.
I need help getting cell tower reception on my phone. Using China Unicom as Network Carrier. I am located in Guangzhou China (a major metropolis). The problem is not with the SIM Card itself because it has been tested and placed in other phones & it works well. Reception Bars fluctuate between 0-2 bars at most, both in and outdoors.Have noticed these problems since upgrading the phone to IOS 5.0 & now also on 5.1.1. No problem with Wi-Fi Networks. I have also tried Resetting the Network & taking out the SIM Card and putting it back in, but this has not helped.

Anyone else experience this? I did th sotware upgrade and a few hours later this happened. I tried manually connecting to the network and it wont. T-mobile asked me to send the phone back but there is a major scratch on the screen so they told me my return warranty was void now.So far I have a $400 paper weight. Anyone fix this issue?

I have found that there seems to be no correlation between the signal strength (in dBm / asu) in Settings -> About phone -> Status and the signal bars that are shown. Often the signal bars will shoot from 1 to 5 or 6 even with really low signal ( ~97 to > 100 dBm) that doesn't fluctuate.
View 3 Replies View RelatedWell I have found a way to easily switch your signal bars on your status bar from regular bars to db's and back whenever you want. Well I'm on the latest beta of 4.1 (8b5097d) on IPhone 4 and it does have feild test (maby it's just because I restored from my 3GS but idk). So go to your phone app and then to the keypad. Then type *3001#12345#* and press call, this will put u in field test app. At the top I can tap the bars and it will switch to db's and if tapped again it will go back. So once u tap to change to db's hold the sleep button till slide to power pops up then let go of the sleep button and hold the home button (this is a respiring). Once u do that u can just easily tap the bars or db's and switch where ever you are in your phone. Good luck hope it works on all your phones. And ps you don't need to be jailbroken!

When i use LTE I get full bars and everything works fine for a couple of minutes. Then I lose connection. I can not open any webpages, update Twitter or anything else. The bars are full and the 4G icon is there. If I run a couple of apps like LTE Discovery or Network Signal Strength, they both show that I am connected with good quality. But nothing on the internet works. I have checked the APN. It is correct.
If I deactivate cellular data and switch it on again, I have connection for a few minutes again.
If I set it to 3G only, everything is working fine.
I have tested my sim in my wife's iPhone and it works fine, no connection drops.
The phone has been laying around for a while. I just started using it again, but I can not get what could cause this behavior.
I am on Android 6.0.1.
The little 'E' that was next to my signal bars has dissapeared and now i can't send texts, make calls or go on the internet.

I have been having this problem a lot since I got the phone. If I am out especially in building where it shows good signal it take it forever to load data. text goes through fine but data takes forever. Much slower than my 3GS why is this? Is it my phone or are others getting this?
View 24 Replies View RelatedI received my iPhone 4 on launch day via a pre-order. I am very grateful to have it and to have received it while others still try to get one. Anyway, onto the issue. I had signal drop issues from the get go, occasionally even a few dropped calls. Per Apple's statement and other blog recommendations I bought a case to alleviate the issue. It's the Griffin Reveal. It is a nice case too. Last night I noticed low signal bars after a dropped call and realized I was holding it over the left corner. I let go and up went the bars.
I called care. They opened a case # and gave me the same as anyone else. I was told that I needed a bumper to fix the issue, that they couldn't guarentee with any third party case it would fix the issue. I responded asking why I should give another $30 to fix an issue they know about. I asked if I would recieve and email or call to follow up and they said they didn't know. I will follow up in 2 days and let you know. Is this a ploy to just get people to spend more money? 1.7 million sold in three days x $30 for a bumper = $51 million more for.
I have been searching for a way to remove or hide signal bars in ios4. I will often have very low bars and keep looking & thinking about it. But most of the time my IPhone 4 works as I need it to. I would like to remove or hide the bars, out of sight out of mind.

All this happens in about the time span of 10 seconds or so. Anyone else have this issue on a 3GS that's jailbreak / unlocked! I've removed the blackrain app off the phone, winterboard and the issue continues to persist.

It looks like it is working, shows it has signal on the bars, for a while, then they disappear.I have tried hard and soft resets and restoring the phone. Usually if I leave the phone over night it starts working again in the morning so I figured it might have been a carrier issue. I am using GiffGaff but the phone was purchased directly from Apple and is factory unlocked. When this happens, if I make a call it looks like it is about to start making the call, but never changes; If you his the end call button it says Ending call... but freezes like this until you restart the phone or kill the phone app. I have tried my sim in my wifes phone and it works fine, I am unable to try anyone elses as they don't wish me to butcher their sims My phone acted exactly like this once when GiffGaff had issues one weekend, once they sorted their issues it has worked fine since.
I am a good 70 miles or so from a Genius bar and never really wanted to send the phone away in the post, as likely it'd take over a week to get it back, how ever, as my phones no longer functioning as a phone, I guess it isn't much of an issue any more If I could fix this myself I think it'd be great but I have started to get the feeling maybe it is some hardware issue with the phone.

I live in Downtown Los Angeles, so reception isn't a problem. I usually always get full bars. However, when talking on long phone calls 20+ minutes with full bars, my phone will just cut off and say call failed. Then I have no reception, then it just comes back.
Is this a iPhone issue or a ATT issue? I have an odd suspicion it's my phone because it occurs so frequently, but Ive had difficulty asking the apple bar to replace my phone just because of reception issues.
My battery icon from time to time moves to the left. I've done some search but couldn't find if anyone else is having a similar issue. I'm on 4.0 iphone 4 stock. Jailbroken, Unlocked. I'm not sure if I remember this occurrence before the jailbreak.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI am having an awful time loosing cellular data - can't send or receive text messages, use Safari or Find my Friends etc. I came into the forums looking for help and found posts about the personal hotspot constantly spinning. I looked at mine and it was too. I did a hard reset and it finally stopped. Immediately I got connectivity back. I don't know if that is causing my loosing internet or not but it seems coincidence that when it stopped spinning I got it back.Simply going into and out of airplane mode and toggling cellular data on and off never restores connectivity. Often it will restore when I leave the building. But I have 3-4 bars of signal and 4G listed as available when I'm inside.Also, something is chewing up my battery. I was at 100% when I left the house at 8 am and at 65% at 10 am with the phone sitting on the desk doing nothing.

just got rounf to updating my iphone 4 to 5.1.1 from 5.0.1. ever since i have experienced a problem with the internet.
the wifi symbol will always show when near the several wifi spot that i visit. but when i try to use emails/safari/Internet/apps(that access the net) it will say no connection or internet. if i turn off the wifi and then turn it back on the emails/safari/Internet etc. will work for a while till i leave the phone for a couple of mins.
when using safari and mail the the circle(next to wifi) cycles around but then shows ("cannot open page...safari could not open the page because the server stopped responding".)
never had a problem before till the update. i have tried reinstalling a fresh copy of ios 5.1.1 while in dfu mode. clearing network settings, setup the iphone as a new iphone(not restoring from back up)

I have the Nokia E71 On O2.
When i hang around with my mates, the have normal Samsung Or LG phones and they get lets say 4 bars of signal on O2.
I will be standing with them and i get nothing. I feel like my nokia phone is just rubbish on this part.
Or would there be some setting i need to change for it to work? - Or is the phone faulty?
