IPhone :: Syncing It To New Computer And New ITunes Library?
Mar 26, 2012
i am in the process of moving to a new Mac (from an older Mac). Due to some corruption (i think) issues in the old iTunes Library, I have re-created iTunes from scratch on the new computer. iTunes on the new computer has been authorized and I re-downloaded clean new versions of ALL previously purchased Apps, Books, Movies and TV Shows from the iTunes store. I am using iCloud Match to only selectively download past purchased Music. I have also moved ALL personal non-iStore content (PDF Books, Movies, TV Shows and Ringtones) to the iTunes Library on the new Mac. So as it sits now, ALL iTunes content that was on my previous Mac now exists on the new Mac in a pristine folder structure managed by a pristine iTunes Library.
Since I did not transfer the old iTunes Library FILE to the new Mac, is it possible to plug in the iPhone and resume "business-as-usual" without any wiping or transfering taking place? Are there sections of the OLD iTunes Library XML that can be pasted into the new (clean) one to make the iPhone think this is just the same old computer? For further information, the iPhone is TOTALLY integrated into iCloud (syncing, backup, match, etc.).

i am stuck in a tricky situation and would things first i know this is quite a frequently asked question as i have done a bit of searching on the net about it however could not not find anything that totaly matches myproblem, i have recently purchased a brand new laptop which runs windows 7 compared to my old desktop which ran XP, i have tried syncing all of my iphone 4s contents onto my new laptop's itunes library including everything not just music or videos and i got the infamous pop up "The iphone is synced with another Itunes library. Do you want to erase this iphone and sync with this Itunes library" the problem is that my original itunes library does not exist no more as my desktop was completly wiped and had XP redownloaded onto it again because it had a virus, which also wiped all of my hard drive so i cant even get everything i backed up off of my phone from it, i have managed to sign in to the itunes store and allowed my laptop to work with itunes,i have also transferred my purchases from my phone to my new itunes library but this only includes my apps and obviously not my contacts and photos and everything, i still get the pop up if i go to sync my apps from my library anyway, is there any way i can delete my original itunes library without it even existing anymore so that i can just start afresh and sync everything i have on my phone now directly to my new itunes library? or do i need to purchase this iphone rip/backup/store software that everyone goes on about or something? to be honest its really annoying my now as i just want to be able to sync everything like how i used to,
I have got a new computer and want to sync my iPhone to the iTunes library on my new computer. How I disassociate my iPhone with the iTunes on the old computer and sync my iPhone with the iTunes on the new computer without having any content on my iPhone erased? I have already created a backup of the iPhone on the new computer.
I was given an old I phone 3g.I want to use it as an ipod for music only.I followed Allen Sampson's instructions on wiping the content from the phone, but then when I went to my itunes music library and synced, nothing came on to the phone. How do I get my music from my computer on to this phone?
I never use Sync on the iphone but since I got the new iPhone 4 I can't add music to my phone anymore from iTunes. Is there a way to do this without Syncing?
I'm having trouble syncing my iTunes library to my iPhone 3GS with only the checked songs.I went through my library and checked the music that I want. Plugged in the phone and went to the home summary page and checked "sync only checked..." I'm still getting some songs that aren't checked in my library and some of the songs that are checked aren't syncing. What am I doing wrong?
When I attempted to sync my new iphone to my itunes library on the PC only 181 songs of a library of over 2000 synced to the iphone and no playlists transferred to the iphone. Why?
My old PC died and I'm trying synch my Iphone to a PC that I haven't backed up to in many months and the contents of the the two don't match. My Iphone has everything I want on it. The PC wants to replace everything with its old backup when I turn on synch apps and music? Would like it if Itunes would treat this like a new phone and just back everything up, is there a way to get it to do this?
I have two I phones an old 3G and 4S.I use the 4S in the US and I planned to unlock the 3G in order to use it in France.I have itune on my computer and I would like to know if I can sync my two iphones on the same itune?

I added new music purchases on my iphone. it does not show up on my itunes library on computer. If I plug iphone into computer, will it sync new music on my computer?
I am in the process of moving to a new house and had to put my wife's computer in storage. Yesterday we had to replace her phone due to a bad headphone jack. I've been syncing her phone to my PC for several weeks now. When I started doing this it wiped her music and movies, but that was fine because they were all in my iTunes anyway. However, after replacing her iphone, I can't get her apps back on her phone.
Last week I synchronized my Iphone with the itunes, and instead of downloading the photos to my computer it uploaded everything from the computer to the iphone. Now my iphone's sotrage is full and I dont know how to reverse this action.
this is annoying the hell out of me, i have sync only checked songs and videos is that whats causing it? i dont get it.is it possible to have the iphone not sync as soon i plug it in (if itunes is open)?
it is possible to transfer your music library from a 1st gen Ipod touch to your itunes library on a Mac book pro. I have alomost 3000 songs as well as playlists on my Ipod and cant find anyway to transfer theses to my itunes library, meaning i can't add them to my 4s.
I synced my photos from my mac to iphone 4s. and on my iphone photos the pictures are transfered, but there is a duplicate on the Photo Library and also the name of the photo album. i cannot delete on my phone. how can i sync photos without duplicate?
My iphone will not add music i purchased to itunes library because it says syncing music will overwrite phone with library. Since when is that the policy?? How do I sync now?
So my question is pretty straight forward, I have tried searching the internet for a week now and haven't found anyone in the same perdicament that I find myself in at this moment. I have aquired a Powerbook G4 that I am wanting to use to sync my iPhone to. Moving from a Windows desktop I find this solution to be better for myself if I can figure out how to do this with minimum fuss.
I have moved iTunes libraries around on Windows computers before, but those computers have had ample Hard Drive space to store my entire iTunes library and it all worked like a champ. The problem that I face now is that my laptop doesn't have enough hard drive space to store the entire iTunes library locally. The items that I do sync to my phone are able to be stored locally, apps, music, podcasts... videos and tv shows which I only use with AppleTv will need to continue to reside on my desktop.
So now for the question.. I have used home sharing to transfer all of my apps, ringtones, podcasts, audiobooks, books, and music to my laptop but everytime I try to set my phone up to sync with the laptop make it truely mobile I am confronted with the dreaded "All data will be erased" message. I do not want this I have years of data in some apps, dvd collections, auto maintenance on my family's automobiles, financial transactions etc. etc. Is there anyway to accomplish what I am wanting to accomplish without losing this data? Ideally I would like to keep my app folders as well as my settings and logins for all of my apps, but I could probably manage if I lost them. I have no other option than to stay tethered to my desktop for my IPhone management which is highly inconvenient.
My Mac is running 10.5.8, iTunes 10.6.1, iPhone 4s running iOS 5.1. I do have icloud setup and backing up to icloud as well as locally if that makes a difference.
I have pictures on my iphone in the photo library file (not talking about the camera roll file). I have tried several times to sync the phone and save them but I am being told that the iphone has been synched with another computer and it will delete all the pictures with the new pictures from the file on the computer I have selected. So how do I get the pictures off the iphone and into my computer.
The computer we originally had the itunes account on was quite old, so I currently have a MacBook. The itunes library is still under the same account, but there is music on my phone's library that does not show on my computer's itunes library. I want to delete songs to save space, but they if they don't appear in the computer library, how can I get rid of them? The songs I plan to delete are neither on the library regularly, nor when I connect the phone to sync it. Any way to get rid of the unwanted music!
I use 2 PCs and an iPhone 4S I added photos to the phone which appear in the Photo Library, but want to copy them to my second computer (different place).
The hard drive of my computer recently died and with all my itune music library as well as my custom ringtones with it. I have now recreate all my custom ringtones and put them into a folder call Tones on my desktop. However, I cannot add the folder back into the itune library even after going through the itune add folder function on itune 10.6. Is this a known problem for the itune 10.6? The old itune on my dead hard drive has a folder called tones under the library. The itune 10.6 does not have that folder.
