A friend of mine wants to get an iPhone 4 but was told by an att rep. to wait after the free case program cause after is when the new and improved iPhone 4's will be shipped(antenna issue fixed).
After recently buying a new Milestone outright I'm looking to protect the hell out of it. I currently have purchased a hard case for the phone itself (seidio innocase) as well as a screen protector. Now the next thing that I am looking for is a good Vertical case/pouch.The thing is that it must be vertical and it must be open at the top (I don't want a cover at all.I want to be able to slide the phone in and out easily). I also must have a belt clip on it.I have found a few online, but for what reviews that I have read stated that they are hard to get the phone in and out of when the phone is naked (no case on it). Since I am planning to have the phone in a hard case at all times that particular case will not work for me. I have seen the pDair case and it looks good, but $28 USD plus shipping (to Canada) I want to make sure that the phone (in a hard case) will fit in it. I havn’t found any reviews on it as of yet either.I know that the iphone & Nexus One are about the same size as the Milestone and wonder if anyone has tried any of those cases with success? As I am sure (especially for the iphone) that there is a wider selection of cases available.
Forgetting the issue where you purposely try to make it lose signal (really..who holds their phone like that?), have you guys seen an increase in signal compared to your 3gs? It seems like the external antenna would help. I was at Best Buy (all sold out btw) and a guy had one and I asked him to look at it. My 3gS had 2 bars 3g signal and his had 5 bars 3g signal so this was my only comparison. It seems the *3001#12345#* trick doesn't work on 4.0 anymore? Hows real world usage?
If anyone is still having problems with the signal strength, try turning off 3G and Location via Settings section. I constantly had only 1-2 bars, but once turning them off my signal has improved massively; now getting 5 bars 90% of the time. I reckon it is more 3G affecting the signal, but try with both off just to be sure. If it works, then turn on 3G only when needed.
I tried a search on this but nothing specific to this topic jumped out.I've read/heard about alot of improvements.... and I haven't listened to the entire keynote presentation yet, but was just wondering if there's been any discussion of the new design of the 4 actually improving phone call reception?
I've never been happy with my inconsistent ability to make actual phone calls with my original iPhone or my 3G, but that's not stopping me from getting the 4... however I would be happily surprised if the phone reception, espeically in the low signal areas is improved. Unfortunately in my neighborhood I happen to be in a spot where phone reception is hit/miss and when a phone call can be made actually talking so that I can be heard or hear others is rare.We also have a neighborhood pool and I'd love to be able to surf the net more consistently there while the kids are playing.... again, with my current iphone the signal is so poor it rarely works.
Just wondering if there has been any comments by Apple regarding expected improved reception with the new design or if it is more for freeing up space and for improving rigidity? Also it seems with the pre-4 models people used to complain that the way your held your phone and the location of the attenna was part of the reason for poor(er) reception. I can't say I ever experienced that, but it will be impossible to hold the new iphone 4 without touching the attenna!
I started this thread to discuss phone reception, but another topic I haven't heard specifically discussed is whether to expect the new A4 processor to actually speed up webpage loading? I know its an improved processor and should help with running multiple apps simultaneously (over the 3G or 3GS), but has anyone quoted technical speed of actually running apps being faster? Like running safari, loading apps, etc... And if they don't increase the RAM from previous models I think that's just a foolish mistake! I used to run a JB'd phone because I loved Backgrounder but eventually let the JB go.... but when I did use it, it was quite obvious that RAM limitations really hurt multitasking! Why would Apple add native multitasking and not bump up the RAM???
I was just wondering if anyone has tried this hack? http://lightsandshapes.com/iphone-3g...ory-management I have an iPhone 3G and I have tried deleting unused language packs and deleting launch daemons. However my phone is still so slow and sbsettings shows i have little to no memory free. I was thinking about trying it...is it safe?
Ok so I read the webpage on how to root the Aria. I am still clueless to how to do it though. How do you get the one program on a sd card, where do I get that program? Can anyone help me out. I want to get some of this ATT bloatware off of the phone to clear up some space and also to maybe overclock it safely.
I'm noticing (ha) that there is better compatibility with notifications after my LTE upgrade.
Particularly, Sportacular (yahoo sports) now shows the actual score in the alert and the Cardio Trainer status bar alert fully shows the weekly calendar. Since moving to the xoom from a 2.1 android phone, I hadn't seen but blank notifications for these apps...
I'm not sure if this is the benefit of a wipe and reinstall on both the apps and the xoom, or if it's a feature!
One of the reasons I wound up returning my D2 G during the trial period was iffy Bluetooth performance. I could not get phone to download the address book to my car's (BMW 328i) on board system, it constantly broke the connect, and generally did not work well. The situation seems to be night and day with the D3. Whatever Motorola has changed, is definitely for the better. It syncs ot my system instantly, offers a strong and crystal clear connection, and has been very stable overall.
My WiFi signal has been significantly improved since android L. I used to frequently drop wifi while on my back patio. It hasnt happened once since lollipop.
Getting a battery life increase with the smart actions app completely disabled. Before it was constantly running in the background even with no actions on so yesterday I disabled it completely and saw a very noticeable battery increase.does it really happened due to removal of smart actions app ?
I am wondering if I should keep the iphone case I have which is a white incase for my 3gs on or off. I mean I have taken it off today just to remove my clear screen protector, I have now noticed dust and some tiny items around the corner of the screen and the chrome part, which I am now trying to clean out. Whats the best way to clean this phone? I am careful with my iphone, never dropped it on the concrete ground. Only might have dropped it in the car a few times and next to my bed. However it is always in a pocket with no keys or coins. What do you guys think?
I was also going to say I do have mobile phone insurance too. So if I ever cracked or damaged it without the case. I am covered that way. So what is everyones opinion?
So I bought a used 3GS on ebay. The phone arrived with a hairline crack that the seller had not mentioned in the ad! Long story short, I got the seller to knock off $40 and then called apple who agreed to replace the unit. So I ended up with a new 32GB iPhone 3GS for only $290.
Which brings me to the question: Should I get a case? I know people drop the phones catastrophically all the time, but I heard that these phones, especially with the plastic back cover, are designed to be dropped and survive. For all you owners out there: if you had to do it over, would you still go for the case?
can not download any program from the App and I can not update anyprogramdownloaded in advance .. Seems to me just to wait and remainso throughout the day ..
For all you iphone users, how long did it take for your free bumper case to arrive? My phone is butt naked and im freaking out whenever people oggle it. The iphone bumper app said it would take 1-3 weeks for the case that I want to ship out.
I am thinking about the bumper, but if the iphone falls on not a flat surface, then the screen can crack, and get scratched (also the back). I am thinking about a sleek slim and protectful case, and a screen protector of some sort. How about you guys? Also, if you know which case you are purchasing, state the color as well. If I am to purchase the bumper, i will either get the black, or green or orange on my soon to be black 32gb.
I am thinking about getting Apples bumper case, but wanted to see what else other people are getting. What is yalls opinion on the bumper case? Enough protection?
Posting because I don't know if anyone else has this same problem or not with cases. With my iPhone 3GS, I put an ifrog case on it and an encase. I also used a zagg shield. Worked great! After about 8 months of using that set up I noticed that dirt dust whatever gets in between the case and the phone and scratched he phone up pretty bad. My bezel is scratched, the plastic back is scratched. WTF. Now I am reluctant to use a hard case on my new iphone or iPad. Anyone else experience this?
I've called around to all the nearby Apple stores and checked with my local AT&T store, no one has the bumpers in stock. Do you guys think I'll have luck within the next couple of days if I check with the stores each morning? Ordering on Apple.com has a 5-7 day wait and I'm hoping not to have to wait that long, because I am having some antenna issues and I'm deathly afraid of dropping the thing.
After paying double the price to get my hands on a bumper case (I just wanted some PROTECTION quickly), it seems as though the bumper case can scoot up and down just BARELY.
