I noticed after updating to IOS 5.1 that whenever I play music - it is on "shuffle" all the time - whether the shuffle button is actually enabled or not. Also, touching the skip track skips around, skipping ahead 2-4 songs, or back 2-4 songs - as if it's on shuffle all the time.
I deleted all music from the iPhone, checked my playlist that I sync to the iPhone, and resync'ed all the music - same problem.
Why is it on "permanent shuffle"?
Can no longer shuffle my music content on my Iphone. Looking for a fix

whenever I shuffle, it mixes up the songs like it's supposed to. But, when all the songs have been played, it doesn't shuffle again unless I manually do it. This can lead to me hearing the songs in the same order for hours. How do I make it shuffle automatically after all the songs have played?

When I open my music app, there should be the replay and shuffle buttons on the top of the app, under the song title, but the other day they disappeared after I downloaded a podcast. I have restarted my phone, updated, and restored, but nothing has fixed it. I can still choose shuffle from the playlist screen, but if i choose a specific song, it won't let me shuffle.

Recently, I have been very irritated with my iphone's music playback because the volume is inconsistent. For almost every song, as it starts playing it will start at a normal volume then decrease suddenly to a common level. It sounds like the volume difference created by sound check. Besides this, doing things such as skipping, turning shuffle on/off, turning repeat on/off, and other minor things will change the volume. the most notable is skipping, which reverts the volume back to the loud version (as if sound check was off), while turning shuffle and repeat on/off only changes the volume slightly (barely noticeable unless playing at a loud volume). I have tried to ignore it for all this time. it would be nice if apple had a simple email contact option to ask questions as well, but apparently they either don't or it is impossible to find, and that ****** me off even more.

i'm posting this because someone else posted about it but the subject wasn't precise. on our iphone 4 with 5.1.1 there is no replay or shuffle icon. i just checked my daughter's ipod touch 4g with 5.1.1 and the icons are there. is anyone else missing the icons on their iphone?

I Have iPhone 5s and for the past month when I play my music while running it keeps shuffling. I have the shake to shuffle off and in my playlist the shuffle is off when I start running but after the first song plays it shuffles and on the playlist current song playing has shuffle on so again I turn it off and after one song it is back with shuffle on. It does it only when I run if I'm walking the shuffle does not turn itself back on. since I have had this phone since last year when the 5s came out and have never had this problem during running until the last month.

After Anna update, every time I press back and pick a song shuffle gets disabled. I really don't like that and the fact that it does something I didn't ask it to do. I just picked a song, I didn't pick "disable shuffle as well".
If I toggle between the shuffle on/off it clearly affects my sound volume from a rich bassy sound (shuffle on) to a hollow tin sound (shuffle off)

Like I wrote when i open music player, and choose shuffle play it keeps to play random music.
But when i play music in mini music player (xpress buttons) shuffle works.
I have a Bold 9780, I have added a playlist of 31 songs to the media player using the desktop software. When I try to play the playlist in the media player, it seems to play the songs in a random (or what seems to be random) order. Is there any way to stop or correct this from happening?

From the home screen, I select my library, then the artist (I use artist view), then the album, then the first song in the list. If I let it play to the end or hit the "next" button, a random song in the list plays instead of the next song. I'm probably missing something simple but I can't figure out how to get it back to playing titles in order.

My player got stuck with shuffle enabled and hitting the shuffle button would shuffle the play queue and there was no longer anyway to disable shuffle. After reboot, it fixed itself but the shuffle button still shuffled the play queue. That said, I like the change. The shuffle function had an amazing number of repeat songs. Now you can go through a whole playlist without getting a repeat.

The shuffle feature on my iPhone 4S does not seem to be working. When I select an album and hit the "shuffle" button, it plays the tracks in exact order, starting with track 1. If I advance by hitting the next track arrow, it goes to the next track in sequence.
I have confirmed that the "shuffle" button is on (arrows in the upper right are highlighted), and the repeat button is off (arrows in the upper right are not highlighted).

On all of my iOS devices (iPad 3rd generation, iPhone 5) downloading tracks takes a few seconds on wifi, however having downloaded it takes minutes for it to finish "Processing...". Downloads on iTunes on the mac are fine and finish as soon as it has downloaded the data.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have the iPhone 4 and a new Sony car deck, model CDXGT540UI. It has USB so I can connect my phone and change the songs through the deck (as opposed to changing songs through the phone).
The issue I am having is when I plug it in, through the deck I select the (only) playlist and shuffle the playlist but each and every time I get in the car the songs are played in the same order. It's like it's chosen a set of songs in random order and frozen it. It would be nice to hop in and listen to a different order each time.
Does any one who connect their phone to their deck have any suggestions?
I have only had my Iphone for about 6 months now. It does some things very well.. others not so much. Here is one that I just cant figure out.
I have 80 or so songs in my Gym playlist, from about 70 different artists. (so maybe 3 blue rodeo, 2 Led Zep, 3 VanH etc etc)
When i go into the playlist and hit shuffle it starts playing and seems random but very often will play 2 blue rodeo tunes in a row.
When I say often, I listen to this playlist twice a week at the gym and it happens every time usually in less than an hour.
It is "shuffle" but my phone thinks it knows what I want better than I do? I DONT want to listen to two zep songs in a row.
I have checked the order on my playlist and it seems random enough to me..
