My itunes applications page says I have 5 updates available, but when I click that link, it says "(my user ID) has no updates currently available." I can update from my iphone and am running the latest versions of snow leopard, itunes, and the iphone software. Thoughts?

Wife has iPad 1 and I have iPhone 4s. We have one PC between us and very recently updated her iPad with a synch, which she had never done since buying it two years ago. We did the synch through iTunes using her account. Now I cannot perform updates for apps. I can buy a new app because my own Apple ID comes up for the payment authorization part. No problem. But for doing updates for apps, my wife's apple ID comes up in the dialog for payment, and I have no way of switching it to mine. And my wife won't tell me what her password is. Why won't my own Apple ID come up for this? In settings, my iCloud account uses my Apple ID. As I said, if I buy an app, my own Apple ID comes up for the payment dialog. How can app updates payment dialog Apple ID be changed?

However, after clicking 'restore iphone' and the connection to software is stalled and now still have problems with connection. I set up my user Id on my Iphone 2 years ago but 12 months ago I changed ISP and I cannot change the old user ID on my Iphone to my new email address and cannot remember the old password. I have tried Settings>Store but only the new email address appears. If I try updates on my apps it asks for my old Id password and that is where I get stuck, If I go to appleid.apple com it also only tells me that I have only the new user ID. This problem seems to be within the Iphone software, do I have to do a backup and restore to factory defaults and if so are there any problems I may incur?
