Jun 22, 2010I have missed the 24th preorder date and I was wondering if by any chance even 1 in million manage to get on hold of a payg iphone 4 (uk) from a carrier like orange, 3 etc. Is there a difference having an officially unlocked iphone from apple vs an ultrasn0w etc. unlock device?? (other than any ethical/moral issues ). Any specific stuff that I will not be able to perform with such an unlock?, any downsides like slowdowns (if it’s a 24/7 background running service etc) ?
I know that O2 official unlock iphones for $15, but I haven’t found any certain info on the other carriers. (note: the phone will not be used to UK at all, so some proposed actions from carriers like: “use the phone for 3 months with the carrier and then ask for an unlock” will not work in my case.)

Oct 17, 2012My last Torch died with a JVM. Just got it replaced today and I want to get my Downloaded apps back. After I have restored the device from BlackBerry Desktop, none of my downloaded apps are there. I have a brand new 9860 , running Bundle 7.1. I launch App World. It tells me to upgrade. When I follow the screen upgrades, I reach an error message : Notice: Sorry your device does not meet the system requirements that are needed to support BB App World. I have a brand new phone so first question...can I upgrade App World over Wi-FI. or do I have to get a Data Plan from my Telco first ? I have been running my old phone fine with no Data plan but enjoying BBM and Cell use.

As we are all running the same software I think there is a production problem on some phones. How about Apple release an app you download if you think you have a problem. The app checks the reception when you are touching and not touching it, and if it determines there is a problem with your phone it automatically orders you a replacement. It could also check your GPS and immediately send an Apple courier to your location but that is maybe going to far.

May 14, 2012When I open iTunes my iPhone 4S will not show up as a device. I have tried the advice provided by Apple. I have gone through the iPhone Troubleshooting Assistant. That gave no solutions. I have tried the other solutions offered by Apple. I think that I have possibly identified the problem. As far as I know the Apple Mobile Device USB Driver is not installed on my computer. I have tried to install it but when I do I receive an error message. I repeat the entire error message in the following paragraph. The message appears in a dialogue box with the name: "Update Driver Software - iPhone".
"Windows encountered a problem installing the driver software for your device. Windows found driver software for your device but encountered an error while attempting to install it. Apple Mobile Device USB Driver. Access is denied. If you know the manufacturer of your device, you can visit its website and check the support section for driver software."
How can I get this driver installed? My version of iTunes is current. My PC's operating system is Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium Service Pack 2.
