hi guys, i am dieing for an untethered jailbreak, and i was just wondering if i can replace my iphone 3gs's bootrom with the one in my ipod touch. are they the same size and shape? are they compatible? this information would be very much appreciated. i am probably not going to do it cuz i dont want to void the warranty or screw anything up...so its just for educational purposes. thanks in advance?

View 12 Replies View RelatedI have T-mobile for the next year at least. Got a really good condition iphone 3gs with new bootrom and ios4. So I can't use it at the moment cause its not unlockable. What are the chances an unlocking process will be developed in the next month or two? Did Apple put a stop to unlocking with the latest setup for good? My options are just re-sell this one and try to get a decent shape 3g that is unlockable or wait and hope an unlock process becomes available. I really would like to keep this thing, its like brand new condition.

I have a VERY new iPhone. I was wondering what hacks are available to me at this point in the hacking community. I have tried countless times and nearly bricked my phone half a dozen times now. Thank god for DFU mode. Anyway, I would love to jailbreak it (no need to unlock) but what I'm really after is tethering. Nothing works on 3.1.3 unless it's jailbroken and i cannot do that, or so links from google tell me. My phone is pwning me. Please tell me if I've lost the battle or there's still hope for me yet? im running vista (unfortunately) only thing i can think of is that 3.5 netframework didnt install but snowbreeze ran fine and i am assuming i already have 3.5 hence why it didnt install properly.So whats error 1600 whats the work around?iphone is in DFU mode still and wont be taking it out of it until i know what to do next.
I sold my 3GS to someone, unlocked with Ultrasn0w, I told them not to update the phone and what do you know, they update it.Does the bootrom get update if the phone is update through iTunes? Or in other words what I am trying to find out if there is a way for me to put back the IPSW with 4.0 (w/ Cydia) back on the phone?
