I lost my backup file password, how can i restore my new iphone from backup?

This is for a iphone 4s.
I have located the backup files on my PC, which is under some geberrish file name in my hard drive. I have two backup files, one from 1 week ago, one from this week. How can I choose to restore from the file that I backed up a week ago?
I tried plugging the phone in and go through itunes, but itune only gave me the option to restore from the backup file from this week (which is no good because the new backup file has nothing in it for some reason, 0MB of file ).
I click restore and my phone doesn't restore the last backup file?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to restore my new 4s (16g) to my backup, but it will not sync with iTunes, shows I have too much "other" taking up memory and I can't change the settings. Can't restore from backup due to corrupt file??
I've tried soft reset, restarting my computer, restoring the iPhone...exhausted and tired. Ready to return it.

I have a new iPhone 3GS and the only way to jailbreak is to have it be a tethered jailbreak. I want to jailbreak my phone right now, but I also want the option to restore my iPhone to exactly how it is right now and delete the jailbreak. I sync my Iphone to my MacBook Pro right now. So is there a way I can manually save a backup file to restore my iPhone to how it is right now and reverse the jailbreak? I know after I jailbreak it will automatically erase the current backup and replace it with one that has Blackra1n or whatever on it.
Sorry if this has already been asked. I am an iPhone newbie from the Blackberry world and AT&T.
Apple really screwed me up! Did an update to iOS 8.1.2, got stuck in the white restart screen. Recovered the phone via DFU for like 6 times to get the phone start up correctly in factory settings only to find I am unable to restore my backup due to "corrupt backup or incompatible device"!
How can I recover my backup to my iPhone 6?? I really need the photos and messages...
My iphone was backed up this morning with half the contacts missing. Is it possible to restore to an earlier backup file?
View 2 Replies View RelatedFor reasons which are now irrelevant, I had lost some photos through attempting to sync with iTunes. (I clicked off the process before it had completed-hence why I only lost a few) In order to get these back, I tried a 'restore from backup'- unbeknownst to me, this back up was from a few months ago. I have now lost 300+ photos (among other, less important things). I am on Windows 7 and have found the backup files in windows explorer as suggested in numerous forums but have no idea what to do with them now...I understand that these photos may simply be lost. But at the moment I'm refusing to believe that they have been deleted from the face of the earth as NOWHERE along the line did I press 'delete' or any other such commands.

How do i get a password hint to restore iphone backup?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI mistakenly selected restore backup on my computer with my iphone 5S plugged in and little did i know it was going to delete all of my photos and contacts that I had from the past year and send me back to my last backup which was when ios 7 came out (LAST YEAR!!) I really need these photos and contacts back, so I did some research about recovering deleted files on my phone and turns out applications like these exist. I just don't know which ones to get. Most of them range from $50 to $100 so i really don't want to have to buy two of them. Some of them are called PhoneRescue, MobiSaver, Wondershare Dr. Fone...etc and i tried all of their 'free trials' and none of them worked.

I was at a Genius Bar earlier today and they gave me a replacement iPhone 4. I had my laptop with me to transfer everything over and the guy working commented that I shouldn't use data encryption on the backup, so I said fine and he deactivated the option. I believe it was at this point that I was asked to enter the password, which I did. After a long time processing, there was an error message at the end. I wish I could remember what it said, but the guy said it should be fine. He wiped my phone I was returning, and then we set about to restore my new phone from the backup. Only problem is now iTunes doesn't recognize the password from my encrypted backup (this is the only one available). I don't know if something was corrupted during the attempt to deactivate encryption, or if this could be something else? I am positive I know the password—I entered it earlier in the process, and besides, it's the same as my passcode.
I was basically ushered out of the store because the guy said he didn't know what else to do. He just muttered some stuff about third party programs which Apple doesn't support which could retrieve data from a backup. I asked how those could possibly work on an encrypted backup and he didn't seem to have an answer.

my phone tried to upgrade to 5.0 OTA today and it got all messed up. Long story short, it auto reverted back to 4.7, but a bunch of my settings were changed, and the very annoying problem of my BBM Group calendar being my default returned, so I decided to wipe the handheld entirely. Before I did so, I created a backup file using Desktop Manager in case anything went wrong.
So I wiped the phone, upgraded to 5.0 via DM, and then re-configured all my settings, 3rd party apps, etc. The only things I am missing now are my memos and task list items, which are contained in the aforementioned backup file. I'm afraid to do a complete restore on my phone using this file because some settings I don't want may get restored...so is there a way to just restore the memo and task list data contained in the backup file to my phone? I messed around w/ DM a little bit and wasn't able to figure it out, but then again I don't use DM too often, so I'm hoping you guys know something I don't.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI went to the Verizon place a couple of days ago to see if they could get my phone to stop freezing and running slow. Well they accidentally deleted over half my pictures and my phone is the only place I have those pictures. Well luckily, I thought, I have a backup file and my pictures will be on there. But whenever I try to run it I get the error "data not recognized by desktop!" Some of these pictures are really really important to me and I want them back. Is there anything I can do to make the backup file work? Will it even contain the pictures? I have a blackberry storm and the verizon place said I have the most updated software.
